Transhumanism is one of the biggest scams in history.

Ever read actuarial tables?

All the life expectancy gains of the 20th/21st centuries have been about the early part of the lifespan.

Overall, a random baby born in 2000 will live decades longer than a random baby born in 1900.

BUT an average 90 year old in the year 2020 only has a few months of additional life expectancy versus a 90 year old in the year 1920.

It cannot be overstated how minimal the progress in actual advanced aging is. Every "life extension" thing you've ever seen is a scam. We are no better at meaningfully treating the diseases of senescence than we were decades ago. Huge amounts of research money have been flushed down the drain going down blind alleys for dementia treatments and cures, but none worked, and now the fact remains that by age 100, nearly all people are progressing rapidly into senility.

All the "this one specific region has tons of centenarians" regions turned out to be bullshit, and correlated mostly with not having good records of the period from 100-130 years ago. It turns out that likely a lot of the 110+ people were fakes, and the few who weren't, were flukes. We have had no luck making more.

It's all a big dice game. As you start, your dice has mostly clean faces, with a few really bad outcomes for the unlucky. As you grow old, it get's worse and worse, until most of the dice is you dying . Around 80 it's all a matter of luck not rolling cancer or parkinsons or stroke. The people who last to 100+ won the lottery. People like Jeanne Calment kept rolling 20's.

I agree protesting is generally pointless, especially here, but I live in a small city in the north east and thousands of people still showed up. Older on average, and kind of confused on exactly why they were there, but there nonetheless.

It really is just a social event for them.
It's turned into basically "Generic Liberal Protest"--Trump represents everything they hate--not supporting Ukraine, not supporting Palestinians, cutting leftist govt jobs and big govt handouts, anti-trans/gay policies, etc. So it's a melange of weirdos with blue hair, Boomers singing 60s protest songs, Pride flags, whites wearing keffiyehs, DOGE haters, race batters, Forever COVID maskers, Open Borders types, etc all wrapped up in hating Trump as an almost abstract Emmanuel Goldstien.

A lot of unfocused sound and fury signifying nothing but numbers they can use, in certain cities, to proclaim a lot of support.

Yeah, no matter what it just seems to be genetic luck of the draw. Some people can go to 90s and 100s and seem spry, but then one year they just hit a wall and lose it fast, as opposed to others who decline slowly or early. You can do some things with lifestyle to mitigate it--two siblings might have very different death ages depending on diet, exercise, alcohol, etc. But there doesn't seem to be much you can do to prevent dying at 75 or 85 or 105.

Look at famous people in their 90s like Dick Van Dyke, Clint Eastwood, William Shatner. They look good now, Eastwood is gonna direct another movie. This is Shatner walking around in NYC a week ago at 94:

And see how he acts here, how lively:

If you said he was 70, it would be believable. And he might be just as good in 6 months, or a year. But 10 years from now, probably 5, maybe 2, he'll hit a wall that a 70 year old in the same shape might not hit at 80.

I remember seeing there was an old black dude that was like 110 or something who still drive his old pickup truck and smoke and drank. Then a year or two later he dropped dead. Nobody has ever beat Jeanne Calment. 30 years ago people thought she was the wave of the future, but it seems more like she was just a genetic freak in a good way, like Manute Bol.

Jeanne Clement was most likely her daughter pretending to be her mom. The way she aged compared to other people that lived over 100 is wayyyyy different. She was still going like a woman 30ish years younger while more verified people over 100 turned into a Lich
She lived in the same village for over 100 years and was heavily involved in the town running. Nobody realised that she suddenly went back 30 years ? Nobody recognised her daughter that lived there too for a long while? Her husband was perfectly fine with this particular lie for the 8 years he survived after her daughter death?

Bullshit.

How the fuck did we get back to Jew fighting? I have no opinion on the matter and it’s irritating for every political discussion to turn into Jews yelling at groypers and browns.

This is A&N. Sperging is what we do here. Jew sperging is the default when there is nothing topical at the moment to sperg about.

You voted for this. No refunds. Enjoy having Pedro and Chang take your jobs again.

Yeah I won’t lose my job!
I’ve noticed in a lot of modern media that portrays American attitudes during WW2 that hatred for the Nazis is amplified (sometimes to the point of absurdity) and hatred towards the Japanese is practically nonexistent or severely toned down, when in fact Americans at the time hated the Japanese more than they did the Germans considering the Japanese started America’s involvement in the war in the first place.
There was anti-German sentiment, especially after WWI but also because they were associated with immigration. The hatred of the Japanese was a lot more intense. There was less ill will towards Italy in the US.

First a Democrat shoots and kills a Democrat, and now a Democrat is shooting at a group of Democrats. Why is the left so violent?
Brothers and sisters are natural enemies like socialists and fascists. Or socialists and republicans. Or socialists and monarchists. Or socialists and democrats. Or socialists and other socialists. Damn socialists ruined socialism.

Well, the whole "No Kings" bullshit was primarily funded by a jewish couple as another poster dug up a while ago. This time it was kind of inevitable even if the Iran/Israel shenanigans didn't happen.

Van Dyke turns 100 at the end of the year. Eastwood is still directing movies that apparently are good.

Mel Brooks turns 99 at the end of the month and if he makes it to the Spaceballs 2 premier will be over 100.

Disagree, the self-confessed zoomer needs to watch Captain Planet to understand how to operate in a non-topical USPG.

You can't really understand the politics of millennials until you understand that we were raised by television as latch-key kids with no one to talk us out of how stupid fuctional stories could be while we were watching them. And that one of the TV shows we somehow all watched showed "acting like a good liberal about the environment" as a 100% good-vs-evil battle where the only people on the other side were psychopathic villains, and the good guys were a multiracial team whose disparate geographic backgrounds never stopped them from operating in lockstep.

Rule of thumb about teaching kids any kind of way to live or fundamental value: about 80% of kids will just absorb it and be reluctant to move away from it. About 20% will rebel and go to the opposite extreme. Captain Planet explains a lot about a lot, when it comes to how millennial politics turned out.
