Mega Rad Gun Thread

Like I said, it's probably me being overly self-conscious. I live in a conservative area, so I've seen open carriers shopping at our store from time-to-time. The laws here permit conceal carrying if I have so much as a driver's license, so I'm not going to run into any legal trouble either.
My non work EDC is a Springfield Echelon, and while im working, due to the nature of my work(being a little too mobile for an iwb) I pocket a bodyguard 2.0, and I adore the thing. I definitely don't feel unarmed with it. When you're just out and about yeah printing isn't an issue, but when you gotta mobile and do shit like heavy lifting, crawling, ladders etc it can become a problem, especially in a non friendly workplace.

I'm two days into carrying my 642 at work, and it doesn't impede me in any way. Mine is the kind of job where I might have to do the kind of activities you mentioned. Haven't tried my Glock for the reasons mentioned so far.

I don't know how "friendly" my workplace is towards the employees carrying, but I have no intention of letting anyone know I have one until the day comes I have to use it. I'd rather be fired than dead.

Anyone interested in historical military long guns? Browsing Checkpoint Charlie's website, there are beautiful late 19thC/early 20th century rifles. Even if not for practicing regularly, owning a "MAUSER BOLT ACTION CAVALRY CARBINE RIFLE" would be nice just to hang on the wall. I'm not a firearm enthusiast but would like to do something to spark my interest.

Lots of us are, and quite knowledgeable in the field.
I have 50+ or so as a collector/autistic/hoarder/30yearoldboomer.

If you don't plan on shooting or not into guns, they sell demilitarized ones for less. It can't shoot anymore but looks like a live one. Depending on your state/nation less cost and paper work.

There's also repos of flint locks if that's your thing for style.

Lastly if you are the kinda guy/gal to say we'll just in case or if I have one I want it to work there's tons of "mil surp" that is still out fighting able to be used today and will kill someone/thing dead. I actually have taken deer with my Krag (the same gun the US rough riders used) to put in perspective.

Hope this helped.

Anyone here have any experience with a suppressors that have an additional "muzzle brake" or "port" after the suppressor?
Sounds like a waste, as the whole point of the suppressor is to slow down the gases leaving the bore, so I don't know if there'd be any energy left in the gas that it'd counteract recoil when channeled through a brake or a port.

Interesting. I'm in the Confederate States of America, where BooRay is a common name and they complain about the goddamn yankees still, so the gun laws are do whatever you want as long as you are white. It's a good hide away for when the next apocalypse happens, so definitely need a fully functional rifle that can be taken to the range regularly. Thank you for mentioning the Krag–Jørgensen rifle, that will be exactly what I seek out.

Super if your state side it's very easy to get demilled things krags if you don't mind sportsrized (cut stock to shed weight) they aren't too pricey.

It's a great deer gun 30-40 still works fine and can be bought but it's not exactly something you'll find at Walmart or other big box stores.

If you want it to work and reasonable ammo, there's many places that used a Mauser base action and manufactured in nations not Germany (German ones pull most from collectors) can get a real nice Turk Spanish or Czech one. If it's in 7.92(8mm) surplus is still around and most sporting good places have it on hand for a buck a shot.

Krags are real fun and handy. Best of luck finding one.

Be very careful on both pricing and condition. Military Surplus in general is rife with overpriced and worn-out guns.

.30-40 is very expensive, about $80 for 20 rounds.

If you want a gun just to have one, please buy something new. Surplus and old guns are a can of worms if you have no idea what you're doing.

Random piece of advice for any and all, do not take a nap in a chair while wearing a shoulder rig. Waking up after sleeping on your gun hurts like a motherfucker.

It depends on what position you sleep in. If you're like me and tend to sleep better sitting up in a chair or on a couch, then sleeping with a shoulder rig is just fine. I've slept with my shoulder rig on countless times. But I could see how that would be the case if you're sleeping laying down in a bed.

Edit: I got my eForm 1 submitted to get my Vector SBR'd. Did it through Silencer Shop. They make it super easy, though they do charge $50 for the service. Since I've already bought through them before and have all my info compiled on my account with them, it was worth it to just do it through them and save the headache. We'll see how long it takes before I get approved. Hopefully it'll be quick.

The Bodyguard 2.0 is such a fantastic little firearm, and is definitely a great buy. Lots of modern 380 acp hollow points work well, unlike a decade ago, so you have carry ammo options, and I think 10+1 jogger floggers is good enough in any situation a civilian would find themselves in.

I'm sure people will celebrate this victory and not just start complaining about not the machine gun registry, or the GCA or that all ATF agents aren't going to be rounded up and executed.
If it actually happens, I promise to celebrate by buying a registry free SBR. Sound like a deal?

gentlemen, i have a 1998 USP .45 that has now reached:

28,150 .45 ACP
9,335 .45 ACP +P (specifically a mix of 185gr golden sabers and 200gr speer)
2,000 .45 Super (mix of 230 and 250 gr, not sure the exactly split but a lot of starline homebrew and winchester loads with like a box of buffalo bore thrown in)
100 rounds of .460 Rowland

original recoil spring, although i have a spare one. just started getting inconsistent ejection on my usual loads (.45 +p 200gr underwood JHP's) so new recoil spring time it is. after detail strip, other than being a bit dirty here and there, it's got a lot of life left in the bore and frame. photo is during the take down to illustrate wear a bit.

Do you know how autistic I sound when I sperg about the indestructibility of the USP and MK23? It's weird, but it's come up like 4 times in conversation the past two months.
