Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Then there was the whole "are traps gay?" situation, where he went out of his way to witch hunt and publicly shame a fan for making a harmless joke.
I never followed his content, but I remember this incident and it really soured me on him because it was so obviously performative outrage on behalf of his new e-frens. "Are traps gay?" is one of the oldest memes, all he had to say was 'the dick makes it better' stock response and move on, but instead he decided to clutch his pearls and blow up at the guy who obviously wasn't trying to be a dick.

If I recall correctly he actually got the guy thrown out the con, too.
I hate Jim's new crab hand logo in ways I can't really articulate.

Like that's not what you like Jim, it makes me angry.
I am still hoping it's the precursor to a Vtuber arc. He has the funds to get a really good one rigged up, and it might actually improve his metrics if nobody has to see him.

Which pretty much guarantees he'll get a low-effort one with 90% of the work put on the jiggle physics like every troon trying to make it in that sphere.

On the other hand, he may get a "snip-snip!" hand/claw toggle to go along with the theme. That would be funny.

He wasn't even present at that pannel. It was Jesse Cox and Crendor doing Q&A. As the first panel of the whole con. Both of them cracked up at the question/joke and gave some joke answer, pretty much the whole audience laughed about it too. TB was in the green room they'd set up at the time.

LKD was in the front row and left in a huff as soon as the joke was made so I recon that's what caused the reaction.

He got such a glazing by the hideous men in dresses at his panel/Q&A over it, with a good portion of the audience audibly groaning every time someone started going thay way.

The vast majority of people at the con thought it was utterly stupid for an Internet meme con but knew they'd probably be kicked out too if they voiced that too loudly. It really did kill a lot of the atmosphere of the con compared to previous years.

I apparently had a Mandella Effect moment and had to look up the clip, because I distinctly remember TB being the one asked the question on the panel, but you're right.
I tried to find a longer clip to see the guy's reaction but instead I found this video which includes TB's Twitter spergout.
"Did you fuse with Jim Sterling?" THEY KNEW, CHAT!

We've seen what png he decided to use, do you really think a vtuber model would be any less unappealing?

TB was shaping up to be quite the trans ally. The problem he'd then be facing is, of course, that "allies" are disposable and interchangeable to these people. And people with big egos like TB do not like being "disposable". So he'd eventually get into some stupid beef with someone or say something even mildly offensive, see every pink-white-and-blue "friend" he's made turn on him, and crash out incredibly hard.

Really, fuck cancer for depriving us of that likely future.

He was already long burned with those people by not going full fire and brimstone over gamergate and initially being supportive. No matter how much tyranny cock he sucked he was never going to be free of that original sin.

He was a big name for the likes of LKD to latch on to and try to use to further their cause but he would never be accepted in that circle.

If he'd lived (and assuming his imminent demise and cognitive issues caused by all the chemo wasn't the cause of the sudden cosying to that lot) I recon he'd be almost totally irrelevant by now. He will have burned his audience to the ground with all the tranny shit but never would have had any traction in that world.

We missed out on a funny alternative timeline where we get to pit TB and Jim's channels against each other in a race to the bottom.

Jesse cox made the same joke on one of the cooptional podcast episodes.

Yeah, it was just a reference to an old bit that a fan was making. Like someone going up to Doug Walker and saying "Bat credit card" or yelling "Nigger faggot!" at iDubbz. And had Dale understood that, it wouldn't have been a thing. But much like looking up the lyrics of a song to make sure that a word he didn't like was actually in it, it's too much effort to not realize "Oh hey, maybe not everything is about me."

I'm sure Dale understood it just fine.

But that's a troon we're talking about. "Trap" in that context is always a slur, whether or not it's a joke. So, much like a black guy hearing a white dude saying "nigger", he had to get angry about it.

Even if it wasn't a reference related to their stuff it shouldn't matter. I have no idea who Jesse Cox is and I know the trap question because it's been part of Internet culture forever. It's impossible to have a job revolving around Internet culture and not know about it, regardless of if you see it as a slur or a joke.

It wouldn't have made a difference. Like all trannies LKD will never pass up the opportunity to play victim; it's literally the only reason he has any notoriety at all. His YouTube numbers make Jim look like Mr Beast.

Anytime I see something like this attached to someone who's been doing this sort of thing for more than a year, let alone more than a decade, it feels me with a weird existential something - I can't empathize with how it must feel to scream into the void for that long and get nothing back for it.

They either don't realize it at all, live in delusion, or they do realize it and don't know what to do, and I don't know which is sadder.

But hey, on the other hand nobody's forcing them to do this shit, there's fries needing bagged for better pay just up the street. I think a lot of these people also don't realize just how much culture has changed since they first got into it. Doing content online is no longer a blue ocean, it's the one thing literally every child wants to do in some form or another these days.

It's kinda funny, honestly - given how overwhelmingly full of fish that pond is and how at-risk every single creative field is right now by automation, it seems like the one thing that still has job security is blue collar work, or part of it, at least. Sure, you can reduce the human footprint at factories and mines and stuff, but the need for electricians and construction workers seems evergreen, making no exception for place or time.
