I used to be a big a fan as a teenager, I’ve read pretty much every comic he made all the way to when he trooned out and the penny dropped. Basically all his solo comics are slice-of-life about chubby or fat young women of various shades of brown with big fucking tits and very little clothing. As a teen myself I didn’t think much of it, but I’ve reread a couple recently and they feel fucking sleazy. Knowing he trooned out, they’ve got this kind of skinwalker feel to them, like you’re reading the story through the eyes of someone hiding in the bushes with his dick out. That’s not even getting into how all of his comics have lovingly detailed scenes of women being gored.

Alright, time for me to finally get to the real juicy later bits of bird comic. This will be a multipost because there is a lot to cover.
I’ve already gone over the premise, birds working in an office treehouse for a cat that wants to eat them something something capitalism metaphor. Real quick, a brief rundown of our colorful cast.
So by this point in the comic, the aforementioned misc characters have been fired, and Crystal desperately works her ass off to make sure no one has to get fired ever again. Much to the obvious irritation of her boss.
I’m really not sure what his plan is after this because the place was literally going to shit like five minutes into her one vacation. But don’t worry about Crystal, because it’s time for a deus ex bird swarm!
And now that Crystal has been saved from certain death, her parents want her to…get another job. Look, the author clearly wants to make parallels between the birds and humans, so I’m trying to make a connection here. You save your daughter from getting beaten to death by her shitty boss, and you tell her to go find another shitty boss?
Uh huh…look, I know jobs suck in so many ways, but I don’t think being a couch loafer is much better. I don’t know, I’m not an office rat, but I know there’s way more jobs that aren’t just being another cog in the machine.
Anyways, Crystal of course tells the others the complete obvious…
So everyone is on edge, and Joe is borderline suicidal because he was about to ask Abigail to be his girlfriend right before she was fired. Luckily for everyone, Mr. Catch is called away for a convention, and guess who isn’t dead as told through horoscope website?
Yeah, no. The reason why birds almost always die after surviving a cat attack is because their teeth and claws are covered in gram negative bacteria that kills them via blood poisoning, especially if they don’t get antibiotics from a vet. It doesn’t matter if Abigail is used to flying into windows, she should be dead. Especially since I don’t buy a cat not sniffing out injured prey in his own house.
I was going to leave it at that for now, but the tea comic updated. Got to see if those dreams were everything Martín hyped them up to be.

Okay, I absolutely get crazy inn girl being wowed by her dream, not so sure about diversity hire researcher man. Being dragged into the ocean by a tidal wave sounds more like a nightmare, but that’s probably just because I’ve had multiple nightmares involving drowning. Like I said, the intrigue is somewhere in there with stuff like the deer guy, but I can’t bring myself to care about the characters or premise for the most part.

Robert-A red tailed thrush and aspiring poet who felt dissatisfied and pressured with a simple life and went into marketing while trying to make his dream come true. Not a good poet.
Joe-A yellow bird who spends the comic on a love quest, and works in costumer service because his dad said raising a family in this economy is hard.
Matt-A raven in the creative department who thinks he’s deep and sophisticated because he likes Poe, Gaiman, and Evanescence. Someone here called him a nigger stand in, they will be proven right in another post.
Crystal-A workaholic blue jay manager who is the only one keeping the place from burning down. Hates her hippie brother who spends his time traveling the world.
Amanda-a bluebird secretary who is constantly taking paid time off by popping out babies and putting in bogus sick notes. Woman moment?
Jeff-a colorful bird from sales and Amanda’s husband. Don’t remember shit about him.
Abigail-a gray bird from I.T. who gets hurt a lot and is really into astrology.
Mr. Catch-a cat who’s the epitome of a bad boss, only he fires employees by eating them when they get fat enough. He is not subtle about this at all but nobody catches on. Aspires to be Elon Meowsk (no, really), while his owners have no idea what he’s doing while free roaming.
Misc. characters who are now cat shit-Rachel, Big Pete, Oswald, Michael, Abigail was also assumed deceased for some time

On one hand, I didn’t really want to give another update on Larkness too early. On the other, I have been feeling like shit all day, and said “fuck it, just a small thing for now, make the next post less chunky.”
Here is the artist’s response to outrage over Abigail’s “death”.
I’ve probably mentioned it before, but the artist is based in Brazil, and it looks like most of her commenters are from there too. Pretty damn popular, has almost 100K followers on Instagram.
For the storytelling technique, I agree that a roller coaster of emotions can definitely have an effect on how the readers take the ending, not so much on good emotions being way more impactful than bad ones. I think that depends, especially when you take writing and tone into account. Would Bambi have been as impactful if his mom turned out to not be dead near the end of the movie?
I’m also of the opinion that Abigail surviving being mauled was bullshit, but whatever. This is fictional Brazil, where birds can also buy and install smart TVs.
As for the tea comic, we’re finally getting somewhere. They’re gonna confront evil capitalist factory man on his own turf, with Taia gung ho about becoming a terrorist. I wouldn’t be surprised if that actually happens later on.
If you’re wondering why Taia looks kinda haggard, she keeps getting sick from jumping into the river like the quirky queen she is. Assuming Larkness doesn’t believe the myth that cold water gives you a cold, it’s gotta be teeming with bacteria, and she keeps doing it anyways.

Alright, I’ve sat on this long enough. Part two of three of bird comic, let’s go.
So after Abigail was found not dead, she and Joe fled, the latter completing his love quest. Meanwhile Mr. Catch heads to that phony corporate convention…
Okay, that last panel was a little funny. Anyways, he’s pretty bummed about most of his future meals leaving and just piles work on everyone else. Robert is losing his shit, especially since his guitar was confiscated and singing was banned, because I guess this is also the town from Footloose.
Upon seeing another bird loving natural life outside, he throws himself out the window. Matt and Jeff assume he went the way of a Japanese salaryman who grew fed up with his existence in a joke that’s less funny.
Once again, birds are dumbasses. They follow suit and find Crystal, who has been trying to get legal help to take down her murderous former boss. It doesn’t go so well.
Not to worry, Matt has some previously established coati (South American mammal in the same family as raccoons) friends who take matters into their hands less than legally! The reason why I decided to post this shit!
Neither party is beating the nigger allegations. And Amanda isn’t beating the Woman allegations. So this cat gets beaten possibly within an inch of his life-narratively he deserves it but at the same time, I question the message this is sending. And of course he’s traumatized and retires after this beat down.
I’m going to assume his owners didn’t bother to take him to the vet after he came home covered in bruises. Really acting like a lot of those outdoor cat owners I’ve seen online with a “if he dies, he died free” mentality. Actually, this could unintentionally be an anti outdoor cat message. Fluffy could get hit by a car, mauled by other animals, or beaten by punks for being a capitalist shitlord.
As for the Tea Seedling comic, that is no longer getting updates on Instagram. The full story is in a book that’s coming out in November in Brazilian Portuguese. There’s an English PDF, but June 6th, the same day this was announced, was the deadline to preorder, and I said “fuck that.” There’s plenty of things I’d spend $15 on, the other half of tea boy’s story isn’t one of them.

This comic is such a blatant freudian slip, Tat clearly spent the majority of his life trying to "save" women, just waiting for the damsels in distress to show up. But they never did, or never wanted his help just then help of other men. That third scene just reeks of self indulging fantasy, the dream of women coming to him almost begging for his attention...........and not the other way around which is how it usually goes.
I actually interpreted that part more like a jab on coomers who think they are better than other coomers because they only fap to ethnic women, tons of those out there.the local elderly asian huwyte nationalist is back to angrily seething about race mixing with inferior specimens such as niggers, beaners, injuns, and especially the slant eyed filthy harlot azn women

It's uh. Almost Gibberish at the best of times. I'm sure it makes sense in context, but it's often missing context -- imagine if someone in one of our A&H or Thunderdome threads were just drawing webcomic responses instead of posting text images.
And once a year, lasting about half the year, he goes on a donation drive.
This is the emailed comics now:
See that red bit at the bottom? That's the comic. The rest is all just advertisements for this year's donations drive.

Didn’t this comic used to be published in actual newspapers? At least a local paper, but still one that was actually printed and distributed.
Or maybe it was a different inscrutable conservative comic with the same artstyle and a focus on hot women, but that seems unlikely unless it was just a different comic by the same artist.
It has a Wikipedia page and it doesn’t say anything about it being published, but it was featured on Yahoo

A web comic i personally can't stand but instagram suggests it to me every few days: artsybirdsquad. The artist is from the Phillipines so i can forgive the weird dialog at times but man, these suck.
They're not funny. They're really not cute, although i can imagine boomers liking this slop. Her art is also very... bland, to say it nicely.
