Death Battle - Analyzing weapons, armor, and skills on the Internet since 2010.

Why, because they’re…fighting to the death? Is it because they’re resorting to violence to settle whatever flimsy setup to a fight is brought up in the animation? Is it the thing where they’re fighting against somebody they’d otherwise be on friendly terms with?
One of the rules they have is that each battle has to end in one contestant dying, and that characters who normally have aversions to killing won't act the way they do canonically.

I didn't know where else to put this, but I found out about the Screwattack Live channel. They privated a bunch of videos last month enough where the social blade showed almost 2 million negative views. How do I know they were privated? Simple found a link to one of the videos on the channel this one being about Earthbound. When you try to use the link outside of the wayback machine, you just get a result saying the video is private. Currently the channel only has 27 videos, when it used to have a lot more.https://web.archive.org/web/20160312140212/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwC2o1O-vUQQAYMSYVnc3gg
https://web.archive.org/web/20230208184516/https://www.youtube.com/@ScrewAttackLive The question is why did they private the videos recently? Screwattack stopped being a thing 6 years ago, so why the need to private the videos now instead of back then? Who owns the Screwattack back catalog and why they do feel the need to private the videos? Is it modern day Roosterteeth or the Deathbattle guys or is somebody else?

I get that, but I believe even that’s done in a way where it’s still “in character” when the coup de grace is delivered. Or at least an attempt is made to do so.

Like a character being remorseful at having to take a life?
I guess? Or to put it another way:

Batman isn’t going to grab a 12 gauge and callously blow somebody’s head off if he finds himself fighting in a gun store. But what HE WILL do is throw a Batarang at somebody about to shoot an energy blast at him, and if it causes the target to lose a hand, limb, or even their head, that’s just Batman doing what’s needed to neutralize the threat to him.

I'm really itching for a Luffy episode, it's nuts that after fifteen years he still doesn't have one. The lack of One Piece episodes in general is surprising, really.

I hope they do wait for Luffy to get more used to Gear Fifth, though. In-universe he's had it for a pretty short period of time, he's probably got a lot to master with it.

But who could he fight that could be a match for Fifth Gear?

So we have a funny skeleton who's aware of the timeline (with the worst stats among any Undertale monster) and a man who can will himself back from the dead through bullshit, both are pretty strong fighters but my bets are on Sans. Unless Springtrap can somehow come back from getting disintegrated, the skeleton solos.

Will this have actual results? The previous quirky episodes (Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie, Scooby vs Courage) went "toon force lol" and called it a tie.
TBH, I have my doubts. Oh the power of fan campaigns against a corporate suit and the decisions made.
Not sure about “quirky” but I decided to check the past western animation vs western animation episodes, since this is the way this upcoming fight is classified, along with some others:

Starscream vs Rainbow Dash (meant to be a joke battle, but then they discovered Rainbow Dash could do things like break the sound barrier. Also, IIRC they said they wouldn’t make this if Rainbow Dash was found to lose)

He-Man vs Lion-O (treated seriously)

Not a cartoon vs cartoon, but Scrooge McDuck beat Shovel Knight and they treated Scrooge pretty seriously .

Danny Phantom vs Jake Long (treated seriously)

Deadpool vs The Mask (had a result, mentioned Toon Force IIRC, but was mostly about Wiz and Boomstick and their feelings toward Deadpool)

Macho Man vs Kool-Aid Man (I guess you could call this “quirky”, but it had an actual result despite the real point of the episode being to retire the “Boomstick’s missing father” bit)

SpongeBob vs Aquaman (I think this was treated seriously? But mostly this was mostly Wiz being astonished with SpongeBob and his feats and the hosts making fun of Aquaman’s Super Friends portrayal)

Bill Cipher vs Discord (treated seriously)

Honestly, I feel it could go either way, but I think that it’ll be more of a thing showing off gags and jokes inspired by their respective shorts.

(I have to assume) This battle was made possible by all the controversy surrounding Coyote vs Acme. As Twitter would say: fuck you, David Zaslav.

Next time is Spider-Man vs Deku. I assume it’s Miles Morales because they used clips from Into The Spider-Verse.
idk about u guys but the animators looked like they had fun animating it

Side tangent:
Why can't DB hire an animator that could animate anime for their anime themed fights.
almost all their fights look like a NG animator animated or a westerner that did what they think looks like anime
