I don't know what Aaron expected as he has been pretty blatant in violating his release conditions. He mentioned Kayla either directly or indirectly on many, many occasions since being told not to mention her. This is obvious just from listening to some of the clips, I'm sure if you actually listened to the full show there were tons of times, and it appeared to be increasing as Aaron thought he was getting away with it.

Aaron already pleaded guilty to violating the HRO taken out by his ex-wife by mentioning her indirectly on his show. Since Aaron already has a criminal conviction for violating a similar order in the same way, he was well aware of what the boundaries were: Aaron's just a retard who thinks he's smart enough to get infinitesimally close to the line without crossing it. This has now cost Aaron at least $5,000. The issue is that Aaron has a serious and escalating problem with going after women he has grudges against on his show (this is why he lost his actual radio show). He also has a compulsive need to show the Internet that he is winning, even at the risk of lying or violating legal obligations, and he doesn't think more than a day or two ahead.

I don't quite accept that Aaron did not understand the order. Aaron clearly understood that he wasn't supposed to talk about Kayla on his show, but thought he could use tricks to get away with it. Certainly, Todd didn't convey the seriousness of following the order to Aaron, and I doubt he knew the extent to which Aaron was continually talking about his case on his show.

He engaged in Nick-tier sophistry and technical rules-lawyering. There is a reason that he and Nick were close--they are alike in this.
