His alcoholic talk is such cope. You never stop being an alcoholic. Every day is you resisting the temptation that could send you spiraling.
Very true. I lost a great friend to alcoholism a couple years ago. Guy just couldn't stop, he would get up first thing in the morning and pour a drink and just keep going all day long, every day. His eyes were yellow from jaundice because his liver had started to fail the last time I saw him before he passed. Really sad. I'm sure Phil has never been even close to that bad, he probably drinks more than he should but not full blown alcoholic.

Why does Phil Spencer live in Burnell's head rent free? Seriously, was there a detractor joke retweet way back when that I missed or something?

So many people he just has this hate-on for that I really want to know why. Bobby Kodachek. Phil Spencer. Troy Baker. The Cannon brothers. Pewdiepie. John Stamos. Geoff Keighley. Kojima. Guys who wouldn't know him but he's somehow been personally offended by. Ironic coming from me. But whats funny is Phil's lack of self awareness when he talks shit about these people especially Phil Spencer.

It's the classic "narcissist malds about more successful people" shtick mixed with most of the aforementioned individuals slightly mildly inconveniencing him once or twice like a decade ago. The guy holds grudges worse than any woman ever could, and I'd wager a guess and say that he's still likely mad over not getting the Wolverine toy immediately when he was like 10 and getting coal in his stocking as a joke when he was like 15.

Not Phil. He’s a fucking champion (of faggotry) at life in his own head and no where else. You could show him studies, articles any sort of info on addicts and alcoholics and he would read it while simultaneously trying to insert his the Phil logic into it.

On a similar note, he goes through life acting as if he's never been told "no" before. That's why he's still so upset about the Cologne Idea getting rejected. Go back and look at that stream. Nobody really insults him in his chat. Like 7 dents just say it was something they wouldn't pay for. That's it. But Phil has extrapolated that over time, into being thousands of people calling him an idiot. (Which it was but only on restreams). He's so thin skinned and ready to flip out over nothing. A real glass cannon.

There was a part of me that hoped his oppositional-defiant disorder would've kicked in during that pitch and doubled down on the cologne reviews just because I'm curious about how in the world he imagined in his delusional grandoor brain this idea would be the next big revolutionary idea of content creation. I honestly think the larpers should've glazed the fuck out of this idea purely for scientific curiosity, even if it crashes and burns after one stream.

X to doubt Phil is an alcoholic. He's a lying faggot. Lied about weed parties, lied about building PC's, lied about lifting weights, lied about depression.

Just like his bad back, his supposed status as a "former alcoholic" was just a lie to get sympathy donos from dents or to avoid responsibility for his past bad behavior. He used it to avoid Jaha's wrath too. It's always about making himself into a victim so people around him will go easier on him.

I know it's funny to view him as an alcoholic but the more I think about it the more I don't buy it. Yeah 'functional alcoholics' exist who can hold down jobs etc but DSP's autism schedule is the exact kind of thing that alcoholics would struggle to maintain.

Probably an unpopular take, but I personally just think his drinking is another aspect of his gluttonous nature and not an actual addiction.

Personally, I only think he has some sort of spending addiction and it manifests in a myriad of ways, the major one currently being his compulsion on spending money on sweaty boiz in WWE Champs.

It is very much possible he isn't an alcoholic, I think people misunderstand (because it's not taught correctly and it's not part of common knowledge let's be honest) and think that when someone says he isn't an alcoholic that they mean that he doesn't drink a lot. He absolutely is a problem drinker and I don't think anyone disputes that, I mean you can just look at any clip of him drinking bottom shelf rotgut and it's like drinking water for him, he doesn't even wince, alcohol has destroyed his tastebuds so much he could probably drink paint thinner and not even get disgusted by the taste. But being a problem drinker doesn't mean someone is addicted to alcohol, in fact as many as 90% binge and problem drinkers aren't alcoholics. They have a big problem with alcohol abuse, but their bodies aren't chemically addicted to it.

I think if Phil is addicted to anything it’s himself. I don’t just mean in the ego way, though imo that doesn’t quite fit anyway as he’s full of himself primarily as a maladaptive coping scheme to protect himself from what he views as threatening (the entire outside world). I mostly mean he’s addicted to immediate gratification. When he wants to try new delivery slop he wants to do so ASAP. Hitting the goals early every stream means he has more money to spend earlier in the day. He won’t buy shit from Amazon if he can’t get 2-day shipping.

Watch how pissed he gets any time a person, game or the world at large makes him wait. You can see his whole demeanor change.

He’s clearly addicted to sweaty JPGs.

Shit, I’d almost have more respect for him if he had pissed away over 100.000$ on heroin or booze over jpgs. At least with heroin there’s like a biochemical reason as to why you keep using.

Buying Hogans though? That’s just 100% retardation.

I think he's just addicted to spending money. he admitted to spending a shit ton of money on amazon monthly. however, he's too dumb to spend this money on REAL things that could help him (i.e. fixing the bathroom). instead he spends money on toys and jpegs. I bet downstairs is full of empty amazon prime boxes.

I've heard if you choke yourself and pull a 6 star Hogan right before you pass out it feels the same as a heroin high.

Gotta correct one thing here. He definitely doesn’t "hate" John Stamos. He just always uses him as his example of a hot guy. I interpret this to mean:

1. Phil thinks John Stamos is gorgeous.
2. Phil's cultural references end around 1995.

Everyone else on the list he's just jealous of because they succeeded while he failed.

DSP's autism schedule is the exact kind of thing that alcoholics would struggle to maintain
Can you imagine DSP sharing in an AA meeting about how alcohol has affected his life? Everyone that had to listen to him would be off the wagon that same day... thinking about the DSP / AA tangent, imagine trying to be DSP's sponsor, you don't even have to worry about steps #2-12, getting him to clear #1 is nigh impossible...

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol — that our lives had become unmanageable

How would you even approach getting DSP to admit anything? He's admitted some shit to PPP (DSP wishes his last name started with a P so these were his initials) but powerless over getting a real ID isn't the same as alcohol, there's a negative stigma to being a drunkard.

Thoughts?

he definitely drinks every single day. its highly likely that he's developed some kind of chemical dependency to it by this point
It depends on the person, everyone's body reacts differently to alcohol withdrawals, some people have seizures, some get Delerium Termin's (hands shaking), some folks have no medical issues and just replace drinking alcohol with coffee/etc. It has to do with the habit of having a drink in your hand or near you, doesn't really matter after a while what is in the cup. Think of people that smoke cigarettes, everyone tells them it's an oral fixation, so they switch to Nicorette gum, for some people the gum works, others just aren't going to stop smoking.
