Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

All those studios that sold themselves to Microsoft in the early 2020s must be feeling really stupid right now.
I doubt it, most of those studios were hollowed out husks years past their prime.

Some of them haven't even released a game yet.
Microsoft's mismanagement of their first-party studios needs to be studied. This might as well be the textbook case of why you need to press the corporate boot down onto the gamedev's neck if you want to get anything worthwhile out of them, otherwise they'll just waste your time and money and shit out garbage.

Ackshually, with the exception of Undead Labs, most of the studios did release new games after their acquisitions, it just happened a few them were already in development during the acquisition (Wasteland 3 and Psychonauts 2), the only other non Bethesda/Activison studio with zero games is The Initiative, but I doubt they will cancel Perfect Dark after wasting so much time.
Most likely shutdowns are Compulsion Games/Ninja Theory since South of Midnight/Hellblade 2 did terrible, them a bunch of Activision trash support studios that are only sucking money.

They should - that manjaw is going to bury the game.

Arkane isn't doing all that well either. 343 could use a well-deserved purge a decade in the making.

No one in their right mind wants some ugly kike goblin in charge of the Starcraft or Diablo franchises. Or any gaming or media company. Or anything.
Well I have good news for you

MS and Sony bought everything they set their eyes on and now they are left with more studios than they know what to do with. Each of those studios demands AAA budgets for one or many games and the companies have to foot the bill. Studios that should have restricted themselves into small budget titles find themselves making the next GaaS or the latest gen graphics whore game that can only be played by NASA PCs. All this was stupid.

With how much Sony has fumbled, to see Microsoft fumble worse than them is pathetic. At this point the gaming industry needs an 80s style crash.

that's an interesting take considering his path all the way back till he left. not meant as a defense, but if you think those franchises will be in better hands under microsoft of all people I don't know what to tell you. for all his fault he was money first, which meant none of that DEI nonsense - how often did you hear about issues from king or the activision side of things?

blizzard being retarded is the result of haven enough rope to 41% themselves, just like dice and bioware. or just look at bunghole before and after it left activision.

It's well on its way, IMHO. Only indies are meeting with any success these days. All the big names are stepping on rakes left and right.

Microsoft is now leeching off Steam to try to get people to use the Xbox PC app, talk about being desperate.

You have a great game concept. Would you rather:
>6 years with a big studio; might go bankrupt during development or following release, meaning no follow-up content
or
>3 years with a small indie team that even if they do well, will only supply you with 8 hours of gameplay, itll be retro-styled, have at least 2 troons involved and any success means theyll go onto make other games

Gameplay length is irrelevant if it's high-quality throughout. Retro-style is acceptable. And practically all developers have troons now :( The only hope is to find devs that can tard-wrangle them and keep them quiet.

Zero interest in retrostyled if it means 8/16 bit 2D. I've had enough of that, I'm full.

Good luck getting all the MMO addicts, Chinese gacha, Steamtroons, Live service pigs, Annual FIFA/NBA/COD buyers, GoyPass subscribers, Bingtendo toddlers and Day 1 buyers of XYZ game to stop their habits.
Best case scenario you get a market restructure

Look up any steam stat site and you'll realize how detached the actual consumers are from video game discourse. "Who plays Apex? Literal lgbtq troon bait slop!", yet still what, top 10?

I actually spent quite a few hours in Dread Delusion, one of those le heckin psx styled games. Turns out it's great and fun, but as soon as you get a sense of the map and its mechanics, you realize how shallow and simple it is. It has potential for several playthroughs because of choices in some of the quests and relevant achievements, but it saw so few updates, update posts or anything resembling a future for the studio. Until of course it'll pop up in 6 years with a completely different game and you wonder "Oh, so dread delusion was just a good game and not a foundation for a studio worth following".

I mean sure, games are just meant to be good, but in a world of endless remasters and cult-forming studios, it'd be nice to at least have a few players worth following, making consistently good games. And then you got that Dusk developer guy who keeps making the same shit over and over while spewing all over Twitter, which is a worse alternative.
