He also exploited the fact that, unlike regular videos, YouTube didn't provide a "Don't recommend channel" menu option on recommended shorts, which meant that shorts had at least as much opportunity for positive feedback that would boost his channel's visibility (probably more, since YouTube was heavily pushing shorts at the time) but that one of the main methods of providing negative feedback was removed. I' m certain this opportunity to game the YouTube algorithm is why he concentrated on shorts. (For all I know, YouTube still does this, but I installed the Enhancer for YouTube browser extension to remove shorts and I'm not going to disable it to check.)

The DEFCON stuff has been talked about to death, he has 3 badges from being on 3 winning teams. It is very possible he "social engineered" one of the guys involved with the puzzles to get part of a solution at one of them. I don't remember the details but whatever the case was, Mald considered it fair game to mislead people by not making it clear he was part of a team trying to solve those puzzles because that's "people hacking" or something. (Conveniently covered in the previous post)
The real funny thing with the badges is he teamed up with some techtubers who went and they did their retrospectives on it and there is only 1 mention of Mald contributing to the puzzles but none that he solved. ThePrimagen, Theo and someone else each coded up quick and dirty tools to help find and verify solutions but none of them mention Mald doing this or contributing to the code.

Now take into account Mald's hilarious cheating in puzzle games, yeah he got carried. Which there's no actual problem with on its own, it's all for fun at the end of the day, but Mald uses these badges as a testimony to his skills as often as he can. He still insists Mr. Robot stole his solution to a DEFCON puzzle.

This is another lie, Mald's solution online isn't the only solution online and the show collaborated with the guy behind the puzzle for DEFCON. In fact, he wasn't even the first to solve it at DEFCON so what is he talking about here? There's a whole post breaking this particular claim down and how he's blatantly lying for no reason.
