Is there a definitive first game to become inaccessible to people who purchased it? It'd be interesting to know which game was patient zero.
For those whom it might interest, I believe this is the most current iteration of the Dead Game List, with an accompanying video by Ross.
The list is a bit hard to sort, but I'd put it to Earth & Beyond, where the entirety of the game died, maybe.

I think Ross and others were taken in too much by gaslighting and concern trolling. The actual video where he announced the million signatures was somewhat a bummer for what was a momentous milestone most people had written off thanks in part to Mald's "contribution" to the initiative. I reckon the initiative is safe signature-wise now. That doesn't mean to stop collecting or gathering signatures but I think even when the false ones are taken out it'd still be sitting comfortably over a million.
You MIGHT be right, but that said, if ANY OF YOU are EU, and HAVEN'T signed yet, thinking "I mean, its fine now"....

NO, BAD KIWI!!!

SIGN IT!!!

nobody should just "stop", we still have over 20 days to get a buffer, and we know how much flak the industry is giving this.

I recently watched Harmful Opinion's videos on Jason.
He set off my gaydar, so I naturally checked to see if he had a page here.
How does this faggot have nearly 2 million youtube subscribers?

He's claiming he helped...

Which Kiwi called it?

Faggot

Edit: Re-Reading it, maybe not claiming, but he is again inserting himself into the success somehow
I don't know why they made me the villain of that hardcore WoW group wiping out, they were already on a losing trajectory when I gave up and ran away.

Do you understand how stupid your argument sounds, you arrogant cunt?
You weren't helping and you were in fact trying to damage SKG. The effectiveness of your actions is irrelevant given we know what your intent was.

Out of curiosity, what do you think should happen to games where both the devs and the players think it's dogshit? Like Concord. Sony refunded all the people who bought that game and killed it- is that enough to relieve them of their burden or should they also be forced to let people host concord for the 5 people who actually liked it?
They're necessary artifacts. Art is art. I learn as much about design from very bad games as I do from very good ones, and trawling old console libraries would be much worse off if it was only the great things we remembered.

We can't have a complete cultural context if our perspective is poisoned by survivorship bias, in my opinion, and further, I'd say very bad games are more essential to remember than mediocre ones.

Also, as an aside, I'm told Concord isn't awful, mediocre at worst, it was just a very unnecessary game. Sure would be nice if it was preserved so I could make that judgment myself.

He started his channel off with fatherly-sounding advice stolen from fortune cookies and aimed at young people with bright futures and a love for videogames, then pressed a magic button that primarily sends YT Shorts out to people who aren't subscribed to him.

Then his bag of tricks (prewritten rapport-building lies) went completely empty and he started getting constantly exposed for the fraud he is. Talking with a voice changer and pure confidence in every top-of-your-head thought that sloughs through his smooth brain is enough to make it big nowadays, apparently.

It is disheartening that sloptubers were needed for people to try to fight for their consumer rights, or care about something.
I think its even worse that everyone needed some sloppy internet drama and a giant thundercunt to hate to even start caring in general.
This whole drama is about the petition, but i would argue 75% of the public attention is here because of
"Bad meanie streamer tries to snuff out wholesome petition and is a smug dick about that",
not because of
"you are being scammed by companies and we should probably do something about that."

Still, winning is winning at the end of the day, and the exact carrot you need to put at the end of the stick to get the masses to stop being apathetic retards for 5 minutes is irrelevant.
Also, its way funnier from a lolcow perspective this way.
If people just naturally cared about defending their rights then Mald (who worked at blizzard btw.) would not be at the center of his personal shitstorm right now.

The intent behind SKG seems to be that the contract behind games should be changed so that if you pay money you have the right to play the game in some form. If they refunded the money, then I don't see an obligation to release server hosting tools. The equation for developers should therefore change after SKG to whether it's cheaper to refund all buyers or release server hosting tools.

His video on hacking Diablo II to run on Vulkan is fantastic, give it a watch if you haven't.

Funnily enough, this is the sort of thing you'd think this fuckhead Mald would support and even contribute, but he doesn't.

Really makes you think
Why is this nigga not hired by GOG yet?

People weren't motivated to care about it, but rather that they simply did not know of it before this. Ross' main audience is more than likely English speaking people. This really needed non English speaking Europeans and YTers that served mostly European audiences in general.
