I work in healthcare and if American healthcare is anything like UK healthcare: the whisper network makes five eyes look like amateur hour. As soon as any part of the hive mind susses out that you're a pain in the arse everyone and their mother will know inside of a few days and everything will start taking a lot longer and be a lot less smooth. On the other hand if you're actually properly sick and can still be civil with staff it's incredible how a lot of people using reasonable discretion can move mountains without ever appearing on the books to get you seen to and supported

I bet this was her end game, at least partially anyway. She’s weird and annoying and gross but she’s human, and she’s very isolated. Her family’s over her shit, she pushed all her friends away and the people online probably indulge her because she’s returning the favor and indulging their pretenditis, and she’s even been talking about The Apps so she’s craving some type of human interaction. She’s too self absorbed to foster regular friendships, she won’t give anything in return if it doesn’t feed into The Vicky Show, so the best she can hope for is some other attention whore running to the rescue to advocate (see also: obtain online bragging rights for asspat reservations). How grim.

There is a symptom (usually of hypoxia) described that way in normal English language medical texts, but of course it's not meant to be earthshattering in isolation, but in the context of other signs and symptoms. Something which is lost on people like Vicki.
Um, chud, she actually has totally serial 95-99 % oxygenation hypoxia. Do better!
I know that "impending sense of doom" can at least be a symptom for the early stages of an heart attack, but I imagine it would apply to several medical conditions. Your body knows something is wrong and is alerting your brain, but you can't quite put it together yourself since it's too early on to feel pain = impending sense of doom.
It's also a symptom of... anxiety.
