So, I'm assuming none of the post-patch MSQ redeemed DT in any discernable manner?
No, not really.
We did get real Sphene and she's surprisingly a well written and relatable character that I actually like, unlike her counterparts.
Plotline is still dog ass, reused from base 7.0 with a "villain" that puts me to sleep every time he's on screen. At this point I don't even care if the plot has a sloppy, rushed ending. Just make it end already.

All the ShB fags whined about wanting more Bozja. So Yoshi just gave them a worse version of Bozja.
Hope they're happy.
I'll just be looking forward to CE. At least that has a nice story and is something new.
That's really just DT as a whole. The shit you liked before but less good!

Waaait why don't you like that? It's the same thing you already paid for but scuffed!

Representation!
All inclusive!
If you don't like the story because of that then you're just a bigot racist!

Says the people who lump entire hispanic cultures together with just TACOS and COFFEE.

I feel the marketing on the Anime Expo for XIV has been quite telling. Despite the beach theming, some very prominent characters of the current expansion (read: all of them) are missing and they resorted to using Y'shtola in a bikini and Prishe. I remember in Tokyo they weren't shy about using Wuk, Krile and Erenville as mascots for Dawntrail and had them all very prominently on display, so I assume at least the marketing team realised they really need to steer away from anything Dawntrail and go with more popular characters.

I was gonna say that's probably reading too much into it but then they have the FFXI broad (I think that's who that is in the first pic?) featured so who knows.

The worst part to me is that the "villain" feels like a shittier copy of Light Yagami. It's another "smart" character written by a moron. We've already had him go all "just as planned" as we beat up everything he throws our way.

It kind of feels like they're bored of fantasy and are trying to do a sci-fi conspiracy tech thriller in Alexandria, but they have no idea how to tell a story like that properly without falling back on fantasy tropes. So the villain is just a corny evil wizard who we're going to defeat with the power of hope and friendship, only we need to take him super seriously now because he can hack the city with his iPad. Fucking Golbez was an exciting villain compared to this.

The hrothgar women have the least amount of sex appeal so they would never put Wuk Lamat in a bikini especially with the greasy ugly looking hair she’s got
Ahem, excuse you. We're at least above Lalafells.
The nerve of this guy...

I think this is just got more to do with Y'shtola being a far more appealing character than a giant mannish furry Wuk, a flat as a board potato, and Vantablack Erenville. Though the last is actually fairly popular he can't hold a candle to the widely recognized big tittied miqo'te they've used many times as the go to representative of the game.

>"we're losing players, quick, deploy the Y'shtola tits!"

Not even a lazy fanservice beach episode would save the numbers even with the amount of coomer troons playing it, sad!

Wuk didn't even get a card in the Magic; the Gathering set they just released.

Under normal circumstances, you think they'd throw in the marquee character of the latest expansion as a marketing tactic, but they sure didn't!

In fairness, nothing in Dawntrail is in it. It only includes characters and events up to Endwalker, and even then it's missing some fairly big moments. Endsinger isn't referenced at all, and Meteion only exists as a bird token. Thankfully, Hildibrand got a card.

I believe the furthest event referenced is the first incursion to the 13th on Void Rend. I've long had my crackpot theory that they rewrote considerable portions of Endwalker's endgame to make it into the forgettable slop that it ultimately was, but this would at least confirm that by the time they were designing this set - so probably 2-3 years ago - the story had already mapped out its obnoxious EW->DT interlude.

Both patches are the same. You spend 3 to 4 hours running around talking to NPCs and watching cutscenes in which nothing happens, do a 15 minute dungeon and then you're done. Same old same old. The villain is introduced in the second patch, but he is whatever. Second patch reintroduced a cute girl who people are hoping becomes a trust NPC, we'll see. Arcadion story is entertaining enough but it's only a couple hours long.
