I think getting hammered off box wine while hanging out with a random dude and completely forgetting that your kid still hasn't come home for like 6 hours during a severe storm that shut down most of the town is what most people would consider neglectful behavior. Shit, just the night before someone slashed her car tires.

You can say that's reading too much into it but that is literally what happened, and it's not like it's presented very positively in the game itself.
I think she's been a doting, overprotective helicopter parent who only does boring shit like singing in the church choir for so long that she almost forgot how much she likes to party. Rudy mentions in the hospital that she was "a total NUT" in college. Now she's divorced, one kid is in college, the other one finally got a life and is hanging out with a friend. Why not get sloshed with the neighbor?

Getting drunk is one thing, getting drunk while your kid is off god knows where in the middle of a severe storm without so much as a phonecall is something else. It'd be one thing if she knew that Kris would be staying somewhere else but as far as she knew Kris went over to work on a school project with Noelle for like an hour then vanished for the rest of the day.

So either Toriel forgot about Kris and got wasted with a guy she met 2 days ago or she decided to just dump Kris on Carol without any warning and then got wasted with a guy she met 2 days ago. Either way she's not being a very responsible person.

I don't remember a severe storm happening, just rain.
Besides, Kris is in high school, right? Teenagers are pretty independent at that age. I certainly didn't let my mom know about all my movements, especially in the weekend.

Finally beat it last night (took like three two hour gaming sessions of constantly getting my ass beat before this just to get through it on my fourth attempt that night). Susie triumphing on 1hp like the main character she is. That shit was way fucking harder than Jevil or Spamton.
How did I completely miss that Jack uses the wrong "your" until now

"YOUR LONG" made me laugh so hard.

I mean it was bad enough for her to cancel choir practice and for the rest of the town to be closed down, apparently.
I think that's because Kris slashed the tyres on her car, so she can't drive and doesn't want to walk in the rain. I assumed town was closed early because it's a sunday, or maybe because of the festival or something like that.

I might've missed it but from what I double checked on, but from what I saw Toriel didn't get any info about heading over to work. Far as she knew the plan for the day was:
Breakfast → Church → Diner → Kris and Susie head back home
Our main blindspot is Kris's unwritten dialogue. We know it's a factor and can only really go off of other character's reactions. As far as I saw there was no reaction from Toriel that indicated Kris told her what his and Susie's plans were.

It's a case of dissonance between visuals and the narrative. It just kind of looks like rain, but it was enough for a regularly scheduled indoor choir practice to be cancelled, and a lot of other places around town are also closed down. Toriel herself says the weather was really bad.
As for the independence, it varies on household/parenting style. Toriel seems to start off pretty big on monitoring him, but seems to quickly dial it back once she hears Kris finally made a friend.

I think what's happening is Toby's setting it up for things to come back to this excerpt from Noelle's blog (It's Susie talking to Kris).

Shit, just the night before someone slashed her car tires while she was home and she didn't even bother to call Kris and tell him that her plans had changed once the sun went down a single day later.
Oh yeah, she kinda completely forgot about that. From Toriel’s perspective, someone slashed her tires, she called the police, fell asleep on the couch, the police didn’t come, she had a weird dream, and then she just went to church like nothing happened. And then she got drunk with the new neighbor.

The majority of the “Sans and Toriel are awful people” drama mostly comes across as “reading too much into something/projecting their own issues” thing to me.
I've been a day 1 Soriel or Sans x Toriel shipper so for me their drama has been nothing but kino.
Susie x Kris this, Noelle x Susie that--how many autism ratings will I get for saying I enjoy Spamtenna?

I'm just wondering why tf Tenna didn't recognize Spamton at all when they met. Spamtons worn-down poster appearance more or less look like how he currently does so he couldn't be THAT different looking now compared to what he used to, right?

Anyway, I've started modding the game as an outlet for my mental illness. Wish me luck.

Spamton was a normal-sized Addison until he fell into the acid river in Queen’s mansion. Maybe he fell in after the last time he saw Tenna, as he was frantically leaving after the phone call?
