Here's the minute where he talks about it in the most detail.

Based on the leaked chat messages, the "as you get older, more and more things start to happen you can't control" and "one of the darkest, most emotionally wrenching times of my life", and the emotional stammer after that second line, it's got to be Linda dying. Something happening to Kat wouldn't really match the getting older line, I doubt it's Jasper because I don't think he'd leave the house for it, and we can assume Linda is the sicker of the two parents. I don't think it can be anything else, unless the gas station thing happened whilst he was recognised in public or something.

When it comes to Phil, you cannot really trust anything he says directly, you have to look at the context around it.

We know for sure he was forced to leave the house, cause it's something that slipped early on. We know it was not a nothing burger because he was using clown mode which broke down into begging and tahxicity maxxing right away.

Could have been something as simple as Keth forced him take her to a wedding of one of her coworkers.

To Phil that is exactly the same level of inconvenience as his parents dying, except his parents dying is actually less traumatic cause maybe he can get some money out of it.

The best hint at an issue with the parents still is the PPP DMs, not him saying he had a "hard time" directly.

My reasonable side is hoping Phil isn't using any life insurance / inheritance to go after detractors; not because I think he'll do lasting damage, but because it's a huge fucking waste and he seems to be on a "DETRACTORS WILL PAY" kick since coming back. DSP has to realize that his most of his detractors don't have huge assets to begin with (this is really just normal when it comes to the population in general) so even if he can prove damages it won't matter for shit.
Someone said that he implied he'd be taking future detractor income from live reeee-reeee-streaming so he'd be doing legal shit just for a glorified suspended status or a few YT channels - even if he achieved this which is remarkably easy he wouldn't actually make the same amount of money that they do.

What's interesting when it comes to copyright law is that Phil bans literally so many people that he himself has created tons of external markets before anyone even "provides" one.

One reason I'm willing to consider he was in such a good mood when starting the stream; was because he knew he had cash coming in. I don't know all particulars, but mainly life insurance isn't taxed by state or federal; while there are ways to avoid/side-step inheritance taxes (state laws and situation depending), if the inheritee has a 401k/IRA/etc, if/when you cash out, it carries taxes. I'm not gonna theorize his parent's situation, mainly as I don't know CT laws, but being an only child and if there's no will stating otherwise, inheritance flows one way, even if a specified beneficiary isn't listed.

That's a problem with the port, all of the cars and pedestrians spawn far away so there's barely anyone on the streets. It just goes to show that he slapped on a few low effort graphics mods and didn't even bother getting any of the fixes, not even FusionFix, that fixed all the problems with the PC port.
