Mega Rad Gun Thread

It’s a step. We’ve come a long way in my life in the 2A. Through the most harrowing years where it seemed like all was lost and even owning a semi auto seems forlorn a $0 dollar tax stamp feels like a fever dream of unimaginable proportion.
I'm not saying that it isn't a step in the right direction, I'm saying that it's ultimately not that big of a win at all because we still have to wait and register them.

We might not even have to do that before too long. There are several parties filing lawsuits to get the NFA overturned (at the very least for suppressors and SBRs/SBSs/AOWs), and they're attacking it from a few different directions, including on Constitutional grounds, and because it's supposedly a tax and how can you have a tax you don't have to pay for? Right now there is the largest push in our lifetimes to secure our Second Amendment rights and roll back a lot of the draconian shit we've had to live with, and we have a government that is more friendly to gun owners and supportive of 2A than at any other time in 100 years. A lot of the stuff being challenged in court the Feds aren't even trying to fight back on.

I don't like to be a doomer on this issue, but we can't even manage to push an AWB case through SCOTUS, much less an NFA case. From my POV, the best we can hope for is a tapestry of different lower court opinions that render gun rights functionally separate depending on which circuit or district you reside in.

And I thought this shit with just states was bad enough...

Maybe Jared could have saved xim.
From the people who brought you those little single shot bolt action 5.7's comes a QD slip over breaching shotgun thingy that isn't very clear asbout whether it uses blanks of live ammo (Blanks would be required to not disintegrate the shotshell but it seems to imply "follow on" capability that is the ability to fire the shotshell and instantly transition to regular ammo based on the actions of the actors in the video)
I didn't see any casings ejecting so I'm assuming it's just fired by pressing the barrel against the frame with enough force. It's magnetic so maybe it flies out of the way after you fire a round through the spent shell.

You're 100% right, the cop in the riot helmet at 0:34 doesn't even have his finger on the trigger and bumps the attachment against the door

Ok so It's actually kind of cool.

Please do. The RPTR coming out soon has caused me to move the Vector up my to-buy list.

Unless you have a very specific mission in mind (like being posted inside a vehicle or something) that would justify a 1 point sling, I would say a 2 point sling is universally better even with an SMG/PCC/whatever the civvy Vector is considered.

Its not like slings are that expensive Mr. EOTech, you could experiment with both and let us know. I really like the Magpul MS1 - it just works.
The second I can get a RPTR, I am going to buy one and put it in my vector. Extremely excited for this, to the point that I might buy a vector in 10mm too and do the same.

Decided for the Thunder 380X instead of the HiPower Detective since .380 is naturally subsonic and has a threaded fixed barrel, it's also been really nice to conceal, suggestions on .380 defensive ammo?
Currently just using basic 95 gr FMJs, there's some critical defense .380 HPs but I've heard iffy things on expansion consistency with .380 so for now just FMJs.

No real recommendation, I just use the fastest fmj I can get for everything under 9mm.
I figure penetration is more important than expansion when you start talking about the poodle pellets.

Federal Punch 380 has fantastic performance and is my personal 380 acp defensive ammunition of choice. HST is ok but has inconsistent expansion in micros; haven't seen a round fail, but I like to be reserved in my selections. My buddy says Hydrashock Deep 380 are also good and what he carries, but I haven't tested them myself. Underwood Extreme Defenders have excellent performance, however I have had severe feeding issues in my Ruger LCP Max and S&W Bodyguard 2.0 so do not do what I did and buy a few hundred of those before testing them.

There are even more good 380 acp hollows out there, the tech has come a long way in the last decade, but I would opt for the above, presuming they feed properly in your arm. I still think the Federal Punch is the best selection mostly due to the consistent performance and reliable feeding based off of what I know.

did a little midnight window shopping on atlantic firearms and was grossed out by a 12 inch barrel MP5 by PTR. is there any good reason for this?

PTR will put out an abomination unto God like this but refuse to actually focus on decent QC. Their MP5s are solid but I'll never, ever buy a fucking franken-G3 from them ever again because of their total bullshit. I remember I ordered a "powder coated" HK91 clone from them that ended up literally rusting to death within weeks. We're talking leaking brown from the surface of the receiver to the bolt head and spring.

It seems that both PTR and Zenith Firearms are totally allergic to advancing the roller delayed market past terrible HK91 clones and decent MP5s here stateside. Zenith in particular keeps putting out AR roller delayed slop that even (((Guntubers))) can't fucking shill for. They need to be reminded that the reason people buy roller delayed firearms is that they're different from your average AR/AK.
Swear to fucking god if these companies don't release a MP5/10mm clone or a good HK93 clone I'm going to lose it.

Could be some way to meet the SBR OAL requirement of a state like Maryland. MP5's are hard to get to the 29" OAL without adding a buffer tube stock adapter.
Not sure though. I don't live in a gay state.

According to the FBI tests the magic numbers for penetration are 12-16”. None of the JHPs on the market can get there if they open up. Your best bet is Hornady Critical Defense or Winchester Defender (PDX1 rebrand) in that order. If Winchester would ever get off there ass and build a bonded tipped .380 round like Ranger One it would likely perform even better then Critical Defense.

As a side note I’m surprised more companies aren’t going the tipped JHP route. Only ones on the market are Hornady Critical Defense,Winchester Ranger One (LE only), Ready Defense (non bonded Ranger One with a fancy nickel coating) and COR-Bon (which is to help with feeding not to improve performance). It solves the issue of debris clogging the hollow-point cavity and preventing opening. I know that both Winchester and Hornady have patents on their respective programs but there are other ways to do the same thing.
