I really have my doubts Salah knows how to pull off any scheme involving a passport to go to a western country. He’ll have to have somebody holding his hand through it. Not only that, Al mentioned that he tried to go to Canada twice and was denied both times. I’m not sure what caused either of those denials, but I’m willing to bet that Salah seems like the kind of guy immigration authorities will scrutinize for being a risk to overstay.

I think he knows just enough (through just enough shady contacts) to pull off a bare minimum of scamming. If he was any good at it, he wouldn't still be stuck with Chantal getting him nowhere.

I can't help thinking that both Salah and Chantal are looking at the current situation in Damascus and surrounds as something which is driving engagement with her channel and therefore a positive thing.

She has no way to verify anything he claims and nor is she interested in doing so. She's in a country where many people are trying to reclaim homes but where the government is barely functional so there are real obstacles which can be used as excuses whether or not they actually affect Salah.

He can make up pretty much any bullshit he likes at this point, with or without her knowledge, and it's going to be pretty hard to refute, but things certainly don't seem stable enough to reclaim and repair a home even though there are programmes available to help people do that.

As more sanctions are lifted, the smart thing to do would be get the hell out of Syria until things stabilise but Salah's not exactly a go getter.

I want to do some sperging about how much Chantal lies. On one hand, I wouldn't be surprised if she actually did lose weight, but a picture from the front is almost useless since she carries so much weight in her gut. But she's clearly squashed the before picture or elongated the after. If you assume her bone structure in her face didn't change, you can line them up, and she's basically the same size; she's just wearing her push-up bra. The tent is much looser in the before picture too, look at the top few buttons.
