Because I messed up and didn't adjust the colors on mine, that's why the cherry jam is bright as fuck. The light it was taken under was really warm in color. Should've taken just like 5 more seconds to correct it. Too late now lol. Irl was closer to hers, maybe a tiny bit lighter.

Hers might looks a little darker too because of the light source/color/position. I'm dogshit at photography though so I can't say.

Tbh yours looked very aesthetically pleasant. The least someone aspiring to be an influencer known for their cooking is make their food look appealing, where you can see the texture, good lighting and all that. It's not really an alleyway, and there is a road in "front" of the house, but the "back"/road side is going to be your "primary coming and going" entrance; and the first part of the house they/the buyer will see most frequently. Guests will be entering from the front.

So on the woo-woo side: Even if we do grant the front is really the "front" then that means "Love and Marriage" is in the garage instead of "Self-cultivation". Either way it's not great.

And on the more practical side: The only way into the garage is from the north, and the only exit is to the south. So if you're coming from the south, you need to do either a u-turn or go past your house and double back to get into your garage because there's a big island in the middle of the road.

And if you're coming from either the east or west, you still have to take either the orange or red path. Only guests would be able to park comfortably. Occupants might even begin parking in front instead of using the garage just because it's more convenient.

As someone who knows these neighborhoods well, I'll say the Johma's house, minus the stink, has a lot to say for it. The neighborhood is in demand for the aging tech bro urbanites that have the budget for this retarded market and want to get out of the denser, hipper neighborhoods.

It's within walking distance of shops, mildly hip (although not too edgy) restaurants and bars, and an elementary and high school that are well regarded within the generally dysfunctional Seattle public school system. It also has a direct north-south bus route that, despite potentially attracting junkies, can get you downtown in ~20 minutes if traffic isn't too bad.

Being directly on 8th is a major downside, however. When these houses were built in the 20's Seattle was a much smaller city, and 8th Avenue wasn't the major thoroughfare it is today. It does have a garage, which many similar sized houses of the same vintage do not, but given how consistent traffic is on that street, it's going to be very difficult to use for about 12 hours a day. I'm also not sure how many modern cars would fit through the Model T era garage doors.

With a hundred-year-old structure, the land itself is usually the bigger factor in prices, as it's pretty common nowadays for developers to just flatten the house and rebuild. This hurts the Johmas quite a bit, as 2500 sqft is essentially a half lot. The other houses you point to are minimum 4500sqft or more (BTW, there's zero fucking chance the one with the pool and lake view on a 1/3 acre plot goes for that price, even if it is only 2 bedrooms).

So yeah, you're right that they are punching above their weight. But it is a relatively desirable house in a market flooded with cash. The problem is that there's just too many nearby offerings with bigger livable space, more land included, and not directly on a major thoroughfare. Still, at $850-900K I think it would have sold immediately.
