Have you ever heard of the feminists definition of porn? Porn exist to be degrading and dehumanizing with nothing to offer in terms of substance nor artistic merit. Erotica on the other hand does. Some BL technically counts as porn if any of the weird fetishes are to be believed but it contains the potential to be erotic because the subject matter itself humanizes the two parties instead of degrading one or the other. The discussion got moved here by a mod.
Believe it or not, however, people hating pornography, made by/aimed to women in this case, doesn't, in fact, mean they hate women. It means they hate pornography.
How important is porn in your life that you made this association though? Is this a big part of your identity? Do you equate, in your mind at least, consuming yaoi to being a woman?
BL isn't part of the woman's experience. You're not less of a woman for not liking BL. I have preferences and most of y'all have them too, if a bit prudish if i'm assuming you don't like two consenting adults having sex in a book.
Compared to fetishes like scat, watersports, zoo, lolisho, and even ryona, yaoi's vanilla for a niche fetish. It only starts feeling less so once you add more weird shit like mpreg and ABO. However, if two men having sex as written by a woman is considered a fetish, why aren't more het stories being seen as fetishes for being idealized or not exactly like real like? The main crux of bl is making men less emotionally conspirated rapeapes but actual humans with feelings and aspirations. Sex will happen of course. but instead of having the sex taped on, it feels like a extension of two characters' burgeoning relationship. This raises the question of when something becomes a fetish and thus technically harmful to the person consuming it? I sometimes consume bl, but not often. It doesn't run my life and I can go back to being a normal person at the end of the day. The difference between someone who enjoys BL beyond it's sexuality and somone who let's the gay anime boy buttsex overtake their mind tends to be thin, yes, but as long as the person recognizes what they lose if they make it part of their identity, isn't that a good thing? It is hated because it is another fetish
Not all men and all that, but bl has it origins as a mild resistance towards rigid roles during time when women didn't have fuck all else to do. That time being the 70s. Japan wasn't as gender equal compared to the states but it didn't stop women from having more say in their creative fields where they'd crave out a niche in shoujo manga where boys starting falling love. Naturally as BL starting to bleed from niche circles into the wider society of japan, some men didn't like women with their own independence, calling the fujoshi (rotten girls) to cope. It wasn't just BL that men hated. Anything women loved and indulged in were more susceptible to scrutiny compared to pedos drawing underage porn of magical girl characters and somehow don't get punished for it. At least in the states we jail our sex offenders.“Men do X so therefore Yaoi is not that bad!”
Women do not need to be angels to justify their existence and right to artistic freedom but they rarely, if ever, bring their demented fetishes into reality. Who cares if some chick decided they wanted nothing to do with marriage, a family, and being a mother. Not all women are built to be moms or caregivers. Why care about some socially maladjusted girl who wants her anime boys to be left alone? Just let her be.
That depends on the fiction itself? A 2d black person isn't gonna kill you neither is a fictional man? So why is it that sex between people is considered as harmful as zoo or pedo porn? Because the person isn't having sex for real which then leads into kids who they can't even afford to take care of? Should we just not fuck therefore not write about fucking because of that? Death and violence is okay, but god forbid two consenting adults fuck regardless of gender and who's writing it.“It’s fiction, who cares?”
You don't seem to hate women enough to say "yaoi bad, yuri good" or whatever, so i'm gonna give the benefit of the doubt and assume you're not being sexist or whatever. Some of your points I do agree with, too much of something is bad, as with all things. It's only when you attack those who do it in moderation or don't make being a fujo their only defining personality trait that I can't help but disagree.“You just hate women and want–”
