Disaster NYC’s ‘We’re With Colbert’ rally for late-night host is a bust with just 20 protesters.

What a joke.

A Big Apple rally in support of on-his-way-out “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert drew fewer than two dozen people Sunday — with even the NYPD cops on scene quickly calling it a day since most of the demonstrators left after just a few minutes.

Organizers said the “We’re With Colbert” gathering outside the CBS Broadcast Center on Manhattan’s West Side said it was meant to be part of a nationwide call for “integrity.”

“Our country is not perfect, never has been,” said the event’s organizer, who would only identify himself as Matt and said his nickname is “Slim.”

“But we’ve always had the First Amendment, and now Mango Mussolini is trying to take that from us,” he said, referring to a derogatory nickname for President Trump.

CBS said declining viewership and diminishing profits led to its decision to end the show in May 2026, effectively firing the 61-year-old talk-show host Colbert — but critics claim the network bowed to pressure from Trump.

CBS’s parent company finalized an $8.4 billion merger with Skydance Media shortly after Colbert was told he was on his last season. The merger required federal approval.

Colbert has also been among the top talk-show hosts who routinely roast Trump.

“This is a First Amendment attack,” a protester who refused to give her name said of the closing-down of the show. “We can’t stand for that.”

Still, Colbert has also come under fire for featuring predominantly lefty-leaning guests.

According to the right-leaning group MRC NewsBusters, Colbert has had 176 liberal guests and only one Republican on his show since 2022.

I hate people getting censored, but if this was part of the CBS - Trump settlement, that has to be the easiest concession to a lawsuit ever. His CBS show was never funny and I tried to tune into it a few times and I didn't laugh even once. His bit with the Colbert Report had even gotten stale toward the end since guys like Bill O'Reilly had fallen off and the joke got old.

Actually, I think the last funny thing he did was getting an undisputedly better job at CBS after that chink bitch tried to cancel him.

It's not censorship. It's a talentless faggot finally getting the axe after losing money hand over fist for years. If you think network TV is censoring their lucrative, successful programming to make it less anti-Trump, you might genuinely have dementia.

Of course, he's a redditor.

Slim, get it? Because he's a fat twat with a camera.
Sorry, Matt. No matter how much you suck up to Colbert, he's not pulling you up out of the indie gutter into the establishment.

Watched his reel on the website. This faggot is a failure of a film student. He is trying to get the A24/Kyle Gallner look but messes up on 3 critical things:

1. He uses the wrong lenses for all these shots.
2. He doesn’t know how to use natural lighting, which makes me think he also doesn’t know how to create lighting.
3. He and the actors he uses don’t know how to block.

It’s amateur hour, and this Colbert thing is his 2 minutes of fame. Eat it up because you will never be a successful filmmaker. Even the independent scene will shun you for being a shit filmmaker.

Did you completely ignore the entire part after where I gave my opinion of why this probably doesn't qualify as censorship?

What stopping him from just doing a youtube, streaming or podcast channel? If he was truly fighting a oppressive regime he would do it for free to get the message out and fight the power! I'm sure he could live more comfortable then the majority of the human race without another paycheck.
That's what I was thinking as well. How is it and attack on free speech when he can start up a new show online? Are they worried that nobody will watch him? Also it's not like they immediately kicked him to the curb either, he has almost an entire year to to form a team and kickstart a new show either online or some other network if he really wanted to.

What's even funnier is if you put this in perspective to what happened with Conan back in 2010. The man had the highly coveted title of Tonight Show host only to get kicked out because of business politics. He could have easily given up as a late night host but he knew that he had a ton of supporters that he could get away with forming a new show on an albeit smaller network.

I mean compare protests they had for Conan vs Colbert. We have this:

VS this:

Literally night and day

Yes. I stopped reading after "I hate people getting censored, but if this part of the CBS-Trump settlement..."
It's not "probably not censorship". It's definitely, 100% not censorship in any way. If you're going to start the post with an implication that this is censorship (why else would you bring it up?), then follow up by suggesting that it might be censorship, you shouldn't be shocked by my reply.
Still didn't read the rest of the post, btw. Such silly theories are not worth my time. I'm a very important man and my time is extremely valuable, you see.

Fuck man, I don't know how you show up to that and not just leave out of embarrassment.
Worst yet imagine Colbert having to be told that only 20 people showed up to protest his show being cancelled, and knowing how much shit he's going to get over only being able to muster 20 jobless retards coming to his aid.
I hope he sends then merchandise or autographs.

The Late Show is an entertainment institution with a carve-out that he slid into with no competition. On YouTube or independent broadcasting, he has competition that he can’t hope to beat. This is why he and his ilk hold on desperately to their jobs.
