This might be one of the fastest tech related downfalls ever seen. In less than 12 hours, Tesla's Dojo was business as usual, after inking a big Samsung deal a week ago, and now it's TOAST:
It gets even better. The person in charge of Dojo, Peter Bannon, is leaving the company to join DensityAI. DensityAI is doing the exact same thing as Dojo. The person in charge of DensityAI was formerly in charge of Dojo until he left in 2023. His name:

Ganesh Venkataramanan

How well will these giant tablets hold up to hot, humid southern summers?

These cars also having full Panoramic Sunroofs with no cover at all except if they're electronically dimming sunroofs, won't help with the heat situation either.

A strange trend is happening in China where Chinese auto makers send people to remove the badges off of the cars when they catch fire, as a method of damage control and to avoid identifying what model the car is, but people still know what car model it is anyways:

Xiaomi has responded to the claims about it asking for buyers to pay for their reserved cars in full months before delivery, saying that this only applies to "select high-risk car buyers". / Archive

What would be considered "high-risk" though?

On a side note, Chinese car companies are pivoting to EREVs, which have an ICE motor that runs as a generator to recharge the battery and is not part of the drivetrain, and they usually use either 1.5 liter or 2.0 liter engines, and they are also turbocharged too. One example is the IM LS6 from SAIC, which will be available in EREV and pure BEV forms.

What is the purpose of using a turbocharged engine on an EREV? Typically, the use of turbos is for more torque at lower RPMs, but that won't apply since these aren't part of the drivetrain.

BYD's quarterly profits fell for the first time in 3 years, as the EV price wars are getting to them too. / Archive

But given how the CCP cooks the books to make bad numbers look not as bad (i.e. COVID deaths), and good numbers look better than they actually are (i.e. GDP), in addition to China bankrolling these car companies with mass subsidies, the losses probably have been around for a while.

GM will be pausing production of GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Escalade IQ from September to early October. It's as if large AF EV SUVs have a niche so small that you can't make a fortune out of them.

Oh that's kinda cool, I wonder if those will make it to Canada?

Stellantis, Volkswagen, GM, and other Western car makers are making/have made similar vehicles, the most notable being the Chevrolet Volt.

Nissan also has their own EREV system, which is called e-Power. e-Power vehicles are available in Japan and Europe, but Nissan hasn't sold e-Power vehicles in the US yet, and I don't know if they're available in Canada.

The BMW i3 was also one which had a small 34 HP engine as an option to increase the range, apparently from 100 battery only to 180 miles. Depending on tbe model.

the Volt is discontinued when the kickbacks ended and nobody else makes this system because the government doesn't fund them
Just get a Ramcharger, if they ever actually ship. And the battery-only range sucks.

I so want a ramcharger. Even though it's size and insane towing capacity makes it overkill for a commuter vehicle. If I win the lottery I'll preorder one.

The expectation was that the EPA would eventually mandate electric vehicles. Car makers dragged their feet on EVs for a long time, because they thought maybe the Republicans would do something, but then Bush just ignored CAFE's rising requirements, while Obama doubled down, and the GOP Congress did nothing, so they finally decided to go all-in. Then Trump's CAFE neutralization happened, and it upset everything.

EPA and Europoor equivalent only caused car makers to shit out little boosted DI engines that start to excessively burn oil after just 50k miles.
