SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
A lot of the Safe/Euclid objects are better than super edgy Keter shit that destroys the universe unless you fart on it 15 times a day or whatever.

Keter "The world is totally ending" stuff is mostly boring because it has to be understood to have a file (or no one would have time to write up a report in the first place). Reading a keter file is basically like reading about a super stressful job you're glad you don't have to do, because if you're reading it then the situation is already essentially resolved and someone really smart is on top of it.

Safe objects are way more interesting because of how many of them can randomly kill you f you're careless or make bad decisions, which makes it a lot more personal. Like, it's entirely your responsibility not to get buried alive in the sack of infinite potatoes, and if you make a bad call then have fun dying in horrible agony. It brings it home and turns it into something relatable, because it's basically the story of everyone's day to day life with interesting supernatural stuff layered on top.

Nukes are the most dangerous thing we have, to the point that you could call them keter class, but your odds of dying by nuke are incredibly low in the grand scheme of things. Cars are ridiculously common and essentially safe to the world at large, so you get in one almost every day despite the fact that "dying slowly in excruciating pain during a terrifying car accident" is really high on the list of ways you're likely to get taken out of the game.

Edgy world ending shit can be interesting if done right, but it basically boils down to being a problem for someone else. Not slipping in the shower, breaking your neck, and slowly starving to death for a week because no one thought to look for you is 100% your responsibility and way more horrifying.

I've been wondering what SCP is. I like the true scary stories on Reddit & Youtube and a lot of the community also trades in creepypasta.

Well not surprised it went this way. RP always attracts the spergs & others with difficulty in telling fiction from reality.

For the life of me, I could never understand the SCP phenomena. Despite the handful of interesting monsters, the nature of the site meant nothing of value was done with them and even if it was, the writing was typically just as [redacted] as [Charlie-Walker-Charlie #Jewel-A level clearance needed]. The only good SCPs have received Jeff the [redacted] level of exposure, causing a massive influx of shitty authors with bland, unoriginal ideas. Frankly, I'm not surprised this dynamic has resulted in such a fucking awful community. Especially since the major contributors all seemed to be self-insert Mary Sue writers to begin with.

Oh yeah, the Montauk maneuver. Still on there shockingly, though I'm surprised it didn't go the way of the really old sue-SCPs that used to dot them since it heavily implies horrific rape to this young girl.

Speaking of those old sue-SCPs, vaguely remember them. One was essentially a Nice Guy Vampire, and the other was a fucking furry. Like actual furry. The former was killed by a suescientist and the other was put to sleep.
I remember the former- SCP-083. I was actually gonna mention it because it pissed me off the first time I read it. The actual entry itself isn't bad, but then there's a side log which is pretty much just Dracula with someone's sue (Dr Kondraki) as a Van-Helsing type character. The writing's standard shitty fanfiction-tier dross, with plenty of Buffy-Speak. It almost reads like a parody, hut it really sticks out given the general good quality of the content at the time.

I find those "[redacted]" things lazy. There are plenty of people who like it, but I say they have shit opinions.

It works on some level if you play along with the idea you're a third party reading leaked/discovered documents. A shady secret organization probably would redact names, dates, and specific events which might incriminate them. But many writers still go overboard with it. I think a great offender is SCP-096, where they write [DATA EXPUNGED] every time they obviously mean the thing eats its victims.

The DATA EXPUNGED shit works well enough in certain situations. It's similar to the noodle incident from Calvin and Hobbes where leaving details out can make it funnier, or in this case scarier. Fear of the unknown is powerful. When a whole page is full of DATA EXPUNGED shit, though, the writer is just being a lazy twat.

I remember being around this site before the game was around (and even at that point the dreams of a game were really far off.) At that time the only scientist characters that were allowed were by the site admins and moderators. They were horrible and anyone else who tried to create a scientist was dismantled with autistic rage over the smallest things.

The best case of this that I can think of is with SCP-835 if only because you can do a cross-check with the censored and the uncensored versions to see how [DATA EXPUNGED] can work to its advantage.

I've hopped through a few stories, and I think one good incident of using [DATA EXPUNGED] is SCP 439 when they mention how accurate 439 is at detecting when a subject is asleep. Not only could I believe that would be blacked out in an official report, but it lends the idea that if you encountered this scp, there may be a chance you'll be okay (but also the probability could be 10 out of 10 and therefore you are fucked.)

The other two expunges don't make much sense tho

Still, my favorite one so far. Also this

Akin to that, this one really fucked me up after I read it a few years ago:

It's a community and it's made up of multiple people so having some spergs is unavoidable. Most edgy teens who joined during the indie horror game fade left cause their edgy stories were never accepted, and the site is kept pretty clean. Dunno what these sjw vibes are, this is the last possible site that'd ever fit into anything political, but the content itself doesn't seem to suffer from it for now so whatever.

The earlier entries are pretty boring and left there just for the mods to say "you can't do this lame subject, it's been done already"
Some can be good inspiration on how to insert bizzarre stuff into a realistic world, and the language is clear and professional but not too pretentious.
I'm personally only interested in object ones; my favorites are the vending machine, the pizza box, the toaster and the killer tomatoes (which is both a ref to a shitty b-movie and a mockup of 'thing that kills you' tropes)

The only "drama" in the site I'm familiar with is the constant making and deleting of scp-001 entries; I swear half of the site's scrapped entries are of 001 only
They just don't know what to do with it, and users are desperate to get that spot

The sperging and SJW takeover is VERY behind the scenes, but participating in the website at all besides just being a lurker makes it very obvious fast

I don't understand why writers here seem to act as if scp is exclusively a violent horror organization. Realistically, most scps should be docile objects with anomilous properties. Every damn time there is an scp that exist just to be shocking or scary, but it tends to become tiring when that cliche is ragged on. The one with the Russian chessboard is the gimmickiest and laziest attempt on an scp I've seen.
