M132 "Zippo" turret being tested during Vietnam on M113 and a Navy riverine gunboat:

I came damn close to convincing myself to get one of the new TP9 Pros, but went with the Vector. It was mostly down to price, but the Vector also has that futuristic "wow" factor for me. The TP9 SBR'd would make a helluva backpack gun though.
I don't get the whole sunken optic thing on the TP9 Pros. Was the biggest turnoff for me.

On such a tiny gun I want a fast upright posture, especially with a thin folding stock cheekweld.

I think with the TP9 Pro, especially with rough and dangerous guys who actually use them professionally, the idea is to keep the weapon as compact and easily concealed as possible. For, say, a plain clothes bodyguard who is concealing the weapon under a suit jacket. Having the sunken optic would help reduce the chance of printing. Keeping it concealed until needed is arguably more important day to day than getting a comfortable cheekweld.

I do need to ask as I haven't seen anything, not even speculation about it, but is the Glock V-series just a civilian market gun issue or will the law enforcement/military also have to start switching to these new guns? And what of Europe, will it apply here as well?

Or is this just too early to ask as no one knows?

Gun shows are like 90% dogshit vendor booths and gun store inventory but I've seen good deals on shit I don't care about and I've bought a handful of cool guns for reasonable prices.

The only lemon was the sterling 25 acp that keyholes every round but I paid a hundred cash for it and it doesn't jam. Its amusingly shit
Imagine being this guy not realizing what I have and how much it's worth.

YouTube user Three P320's in a Trenchcoat has posted a video for basic functionality-of-safety testing regarding the P320.
Are there any agencies still using the P320? I've noticed it's been a few months since anything has been reported.
Michigan State Police and Texas DPS are still issuing them, I think they actually announced this year they were both going to newer P320 variants right before the controversy blew up and they haven't changed course that I've seen.

My rant: I can no longer see much of a place for pure DA/SA like Sigs without a safety. I love my P226, but I've gone away from house gun needing to be racked. A P226 style loaded to fire and decocked needs to be in a holster. All holsters need to to fully cover the trigger group.

I've been leaning more to 92f/HK for home defense, DA/SD with loaded safeties that decock for a DA pull when needed.

Carry guns, quick pull no manual-safety like Glock or the rest.

It greatly bugs me how nearly all 20th century war footage is overlaid with the lowest quality 1970's bullshit foley sound effects. especially when it's film that clearly hasn't been synced to anything

Now I'm imagining the Two Week Special Military Operation but dubbed with Half Life sound effects unironically.

Besides being very popular with the hood niggas. Are the CA Dracos any good?

New brace for the F22 arrived today. Regretfully, the Deep Six chassis is too wide to allow the stock to collapse. A bit disappointing, but it is temporary until next year when I'll SBR it and get a proper stock for it. There is a similar telescoping stock that is designed for wider platforms that will work on it when the time comes. Until then, I like it much more than SB Tactical folding brace that came with it. The original brace is all polymer and flexes too easily. This one is nice and rigid. And I like the way it looks. Hopefully going to hit the range with my oldest this weekend and give the F22 and Vector a good workout.

Take it with a grain of salt, I've seen rumors that they're sticking with Gen 5 for the contracts they already have and will continue to offer them to departments, but not through retail or blue label.

Personally i don't think LE contract Glocks will be replaced. It's not a recall/safety issue. Glock is covering their ass due to legal pressure over misuse of their products by 'retail consumers'.

The Romanian one's are fine. The trick is that CA both imports Dracos from Cugir (Romanian state arsenal) and manufactures their own based on the VSKA line (abysmal dogshit)
Oftentimes vendors will call both models something generic like "CA Draco" so you need to look for models explicitly marked "Romanian" or Cugir. There's some other differences like barrel/gas tube length, rear trunnion rivet pattern, US palm grips (for some reason) and saftey selector style so it would be a good idea to glance at some comparison photos before pulling the trigger on a purchase. The VSKA line had significant saftey and durability issues in the past so you need to make sure you get a proper Romanian one.

Romanian Draco. Note the importing engravings, two rear trunnion rivets and bakelite grip

CA VSKA Draco. Note the US palm grip, 4 rivet rear trunnion, shortened gas tube+barrel, BHO saftey cutout, missing import engraving

While we're on the topic of AK's: I made some more progress on my Dragunov stock. Hoping to get the receiver fitted today so I can finish up the contours.

What’s a good modern gun brand? How long does it take to do a background check? Pistols preferably for a simpler time.
The federal background check and paperwork takes about 10 to 20 min to fill out and go through and you can take home same day. Your state may have additional requirements on top but most free states just have the federal 4473 form and background check.

A glock 17 or 19 is the standard first time buyer gun. but a cz or a m&p 2.0 are also good options, I always suggest looking to see if a range near you offers rentals and go try some out before you decide what to buy.

Just stay with a reputable brand for your first guns. Avoid anything made In turkey or anything made by sig.

Heckler & Koch, Beretta, CZ, Dan Wesson, Smith & Wesson, Colt, Walther, GLOCK, Staccato, Ruger...all are proven, reputable brands. As the other poster said, avoid SIG. They used to be one of the good ones, but their quality has gone dramatically downhill over the past ten years or so. If you find a used one that's older than ten years old and in good shape then you'll be fine. My suggestion is go to your local gun shop and ask to handle several different models and brands to see what fits your hands best.

Most states the background check is done right there while you wait and it doesn't take long at all. If you live in a Pinko state that has their own background check or a waiting period, then it could take longer.

My hunting EDC of late:
Merkel and colt.jpeg

East German Merkel model 8 in 12 gauge and a Colt Python .357 with a 3 inch barrel.

I use a leather shotshell belt. it carries one box of shells (25) which is more than enough for a week or two of squirrel hunting if my aim is good. The Colt rides in a el-paso saddlery thumb break duty holster. The sling on the Merkel is actually a USGI 2quart canteen pouch strap.

I managed to shoot 3 squirrels. could have shot 2 more but i would not have been able to recover them so i held fire. As an aside, I have got some nice hunting knives, specifically made for cleaning and skinning game, and they do work well but I swear that my old KA-BAR is still the best. Maybe its because its big and easy to manipulate? IDK.

Not much to add as these guys put it perfectly, but I'll also double down on the fact you should try beforebyou buy if you can. Compact and subcompact handguns can be very snappy which makes a lot of new shooters never take their new purchase to the range. Glock 19, M&P 2.0, VP9, Walther PDP are all pretty popular first handgun purchases.
