Ever want to see a .458 SOCOM subsonic take deer at 437 yards?
Lol at the artillery piece amounts of holdover on that deer, makes me wonder what scope he's using. Not nearly the way I would want to do things, but still impressive though.
I saw that the other day and wondered the same thing... I don't think they make volley fire 450 SOCOM optics so I was also curious. I was also shocked at just how hard those subsonics rocked those deer, talk about some stopping power. This makes me want a 458 again, but I don't want to deal with a round that got screwed by SAAMI fuckery, honestly.

I didn’t see anyone post this yet but PSA is shutting down AAC ammo production and are laying off 80 people. They are claiming it’s due to a lack of powder supply.

Powder supply is an issue for the commercial small arms market due to lack of domestic nitrocellulose production. While they are working on spinning up more capacity building chemical plants are not something you can do overnight. In the meantime the DoD will always get first crack at what supply there is. Primers are less of an issue as the quantities of energetic materials needed are orders of magnitude less than propellants.

That being said the market has been in a slump since 2023. This isn’t the first casualty, AMMO Inc was bought by Winchester last year. Winchester reported a $160 million loss on commercial ammo sales in Q3 compared to 2024. Historically Q3 is the highest quarter due to sales to distributors and retailers in preparation for hunting season.

PSA always had issues. Allegedly they never developed their own in-house tooling, it was just tooling packages sold to them by Hornady. Ammo manufacturing, especially shellcase and bullet production requires some very specialized equipment and very specialized knowledge. It supposedly took Winchester about 5 years to get back to where they were when they moved centerfire and rimfire productions down to MS.
That's sad to hear, I was very happy to have an affordable, domestic ammunition manufacturer enter the market. I am shocked we can't even make enough damned powder because we have destroyed our domestic industry so thoroughly, that's fucking insane. I am surprised ammunition is doing so poorly considering prices really have not dropped notably anywhere I have seen, even if supply has finally caught up with demand.

Glonk Gen 6

-Gen 3 recoil system
-Redesigned extractor allowing for lower optics mount
-Flat faced trigger (Performance trigger?) with the "V" slide mods.
-aggressive texture and undercut with a beavertail

Everyone who bought a V deserves it, outside of the "C" models, lmao.

This is a very strange interaction. For anyone who forgot, this is the same LavaGS that was supposedly groomed by the MrBeast tranny, Chris Tyson.

He's a 3D2A guy now? I guess the grooming allegations were real then.

I'd like then to release the 39A again. It's about the best .22 lever out there. all the other ones are cheap guns made out of pot metal.

the 39A is nicely made out of steel. they should market as a premium gun. high polish blue and so on. the originals were also offered in .32 colt/.32 rimfire (the firing pin was reversible so you could switch between central fire and rim fire), so perhaps a new one could be made in .32 auto or perhaps .32 long or magnum if action length allows.

Hey, sorry to quote this again, but your comment about "all the other" lever action .22s being cheap guns made of pot metal kinda put a hair up my ass and got me looking into how the 9422 was made.

From what info I could look up, Winchester brought the 9422 to market because of the reputation hit they took with the production changes they made after 1964. They wanted to prove to shooters they were still able to make high quality rifles the traditional way, out of machined forged steel and wood. The early ones had smooth wood stocks, but they later brought out the 9422 XTR with a nicer checkered stock, like the one on mine. Being a takedown gun, I decided to break mine down and try to get some photos of the steel of both halves of the assembly. As I said before, it has a good heft to it, feeling very similar to the Model 92 in .25-20 WCF from the 1910s or 1920s (IIRC) that I also inherited from my father-in-law. The fit and finish seem to be quite good, including the wood to metal mating of the stock and handguard to the receiver and barrel. I've only handled a couple of Marlin 39As, but from what I've seen of them the 9422 seems to be every bit the Marlin's equal IMHO, and several people I've seen from in my research who own both seem to share this opinion of equality between the two. I do hope to own a 39A onel day to compare them side-by-side. But I certainly wouldn't call the 9422 a cheap gun made from pot metal.

Agonizing over whether or not to cut the barrel on a 28' Winchester 1897 I got a few years ago. I bought it intending to cut it down to 18 or 20 inches but thought it would be kind of sacrilegious since they're not making anymore, this specific gun was from 1942. I thought I'd find another one or a norinco down the line that wasn't as expensive but no such luck. Someone recommended I call around gun stores in states where Cowboy action shooting is big but I haven't had much luck so far. Do I cut it down or hold out?

Look up gun shops across the country that have used guns listed, it's super easy these days. For the 1897, standard models are still very common and relatively cheap.

whenever I find a website, there's rarely used guns listed though I am still calling around.
Cut it. Guns are tools. Fuck Boomer collectors.
I'm getting pretty close to just doing it.

Sure, he can cut it. Re-sale may be impacted however because hunters will generally want the longer barrel because a longer barrel is easier to shoot birds with. not a problem if you don't sell it though.

The best thing to do would be to make it a trench gun clone. you can get the heat shields and bayonet mounts reproduced. that would be cool.

Clearly only nuking the Nips twice wasn't enough.

I say give it the chop. It's not like it's some rare gun. There were literally a couple million or more of them made. I seriously want to get one in 12ga and cut it down to Whip It Gun length, with just a bit left on the stock that it can still be shouldered, when we get to start SBS/SBRing shit for free. Also want to get an old Browning Auto 5 or Remington Model 11, and a Stevens 520 and also cut them down. The Auto 5 I'd probably make into a true Whip It Gun tribute, but the Stevens 520 I'd want to do a riot gun or trench gun build with a full stock. All of these shotguns were issued by the military at one point or another, with the 520 and Model 11 even serving in Vietnam in some numbers.

I added that video to my watch later when it came out. The dude does some pretty cool custom guns that are the guns from Blue Archive, which while I am not into, they look fucking sweet. I was pretty shocked to find out he got four Jap cosplayers to come shoot his weeb guns, I wonder how he pulled that off.

Also good luck with weeb death, I am armed.

That's fucking terrifying. Dipshits are lucky they aren't dead.

A break action or falling block .458 with a vernier tang sight and adjustable front sight would be even more accurate.

Marksmen were shooting out to 1,000 yards and farther with these starting in the 1850s. the 17th place longest confirmed kill was with a sharps rifle by US army scout Billy Dixon in 1874 at 1,538 yards.

Got myself a BCM upper from PA for their black friday sale and it actually came with a bolt carrier group. No charging handle though but I got 3 of those. I officially have an AR that's a step up from PSA quality now, but my old build still works too.
I like PSA and I'll say a complete BCM upper with a BCM specced BCG is TWO steps above PSA...

Like forever or.....

Didn't see this brought up, but KommandoStore is putting out a clone of the unobtainium Arc'teryx LEAF uniform. You may recall their clone of the balaclava Craighead wore during the terror attack in Nairobi. I'm not the target audience, but it's nice to have a non-Canadian (and civilian purchasable) option if you are interested.
Hmmmm 🤔
>Kommando Store

So it will be highly overpriced and the quality will be dubious at best.
I personally like my Balaclava from them...

This is one of the things I was considering, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the grooves but could probably have whoever cuts the barrel take care of that as well.
