Theory-baiting, J.J. mystery-box writing is standard millennial writing. It’s a feature, not a bug. They only give you breadcrumbs and stall giving answers for as long as possible to bait YouTube channels into making theories and to keep people talking about the show in social media.

It’s not even exclusive to Glitch. It was likely popularized by Gravity Falls, but I can recall millenials doing it as early as Adventure Time.

When this happens, people usually complain that there’s too much filler, etc., but the truth is it’s just that it’s not that deep.

So all the stalling also hides the fact that there’s not much “lore” besides the one main secret. Old example: people complained that Star vs. “rushed the ending,” but that’s not true. They even had time to do filler nothing burger episodes. They were stalling because they only had the “shocking” magic ends finale in mind. And nothing else of interest.

Same here. Glitch is stalling because it’s not that deep or complex. We just won’t know the truth until the last episodes, after they’ve sold as much merch as possible of course.

nah, the problem I have when it comes to Zooble/Gangle is it seemed to have come out of nowhere in the ending stretches of episode 4 despite nothing prior indicating the two were closer, even for much of the Gangle focus episode where it would be the most appropriate to showcase their relationship, there was very little substantial interactions going on between those two until the very end and then after that they are shown to be suddenly close to the time, its as if Goose suddenly had the idea to quasi-ship these two together in the middle of writing but didn't bother to rework that into the the earlier episodes, wouldn't it really have been that hard to show them hanging out prior?, or maybe write them getting closer over time instead of the weird "here have your yuri(wink wink) ship of the show enjoy!"

I don't even like lesbian relationships (BunnyDoll FTW) but jesus I would've done it better with some additional basic storytelling techniques.

In recent light of the Pomni bathing suit reveal, there's been amusing discourse on X about if she qualifies as a loli, seeming to mainly stem from this post. It would be very naïve to think they aren’t lurking and watching all those lore videos. I know someone will point out that episodes take months to make or whatever, but GS admitted they did late rewrites on this episode just to make it work.

All they needed to do was have Abel spout the most popular theories floating around online, and little else would have to change.

Premise: NPC tries to convince the main characters that there’s an exit—just make him regurgitate (insert popular internet theories here)—and it all ends up being a bait-and-switch from Caine, and sprinkle some theory bait here and there. It's not that hard.

The dialogue itself makes it clear that at least some verbiage was updated to fit current slang.
There's no way Jax would have used the term "yap" if this episode had come out in 2023.

I liked the episode. The pacing was decent, setpieces were nice. Probably the best episode so far. I'm not sure why people carry the expectation that "things will really change" because troongoose said so. It's on you for being pwned, owned, etc, etc by the tranny.

Once again the worst part of the episode was Zooble. I don't know why but I'm convinced her dialogue was written directly by Troongoose with the writers/editors unable to change anything about them, the quality of writing just plummets everytime she tries to be inspirational.

don't even need to use anime as an example, there are many older cartoons that show you can have a nice story and wrap it up in a few episodes, sure often small arcs but still, it's doable, but all these indie animations would rather waste all their runtime and episodes on filler before dumping everything off in the last couple of episodes

If you only watch shonen or what's currently popular sure, but any anime worth anything can wrap up a story in under 30 or 50 episodes, some OVAs in less than 15 episodes but that's just what I've watched

Yeah but most of the popular anime for people is shonen stuff, and anime's popularity comes from the variety of it rather than how it can wrap up a story and how it can easily be intended for older audiences compared to the majority of western animation which is just animated sitcoms or slice of life shows

Kind of agree since I did enjoy the episode as well.

Honestly with Zooble, I just find their personality to be grating more on the fact that downer characters who act like they are wise beyond their years tend to annoy me.

Yeah, this show is just a zoomer's first soap opera, isn't it?

Don't think this was a bad episode by any means, I was entertained, I got amazed by the psychedelic stuff and Caine's office, and I confess that I got bamboozled by the ending... but that's mainly because I didn't think they would have the guts to make an another episode where nothing ever happens... again.

I will still watch the rest at this point because "why not", but man, I'm not really looking forward for ep 8 to make Pomni have a therapy talk with Caine and ep 9 where she either pulls a Deus Ex Machina to leave the circus, or "acktually, none of the main cast are real people".

I’m going to be completely honest, I never thought “the exit door” was supposed to be some big important plot point that was supposed to span over the entire series. I honestly thought it was just a one time thing.

Meh, considering how it leads to the office building (which also leads into the void), and the fact that Kaufmo's room is written entirely in "EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT EXIT" makes you think there's something big being involved with that door.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Baby's First I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream got a second season, if the sales are good enough. So expect episode nine to be another nothingburger, except with a cliffhanger.
And the I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream (at least the game) comparison is somewhat apt, because it tries to be a character-driven exploration of isolated people controlled by an AI. Except all but one of the characters get insufficient individual spotlight, most of the characters aren't really developed at all, and the AI deliberately has no real drive or personality, so there's no interesting exploration of characters' flaws for the purposes of torture either. The SOMA part comes with the incoming twist where ooo they were all scanned when they put on the headset and this is just their scanned personalities interacting and they don't remember their names because it's an imperfect scan that doesn't preserve all memories and oooo they "abstract" because they're literally just bad simulations of people. Which also gives the convenient excuse of bad writing and why none of them really behaved intelligently or like real people.
I liked the part where Jax told the tranny allegory to fuck off with its body dysmorphia bullshit.
