The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer

I’m going to be completely honest, I never thought “the exit door” was supposed to be some big important plot point that was supposed to span over the entire series. I honestly thought it was just a one time thing.

It's really infuriating when you're watching a decent breakdown of the series, and the person starts going on about how Jax is trans and just "needs estrogen" (looking at you, Skyen).

Hey man a literary media expert said the reason lovecraft was racist was because he was secretly a homo wanting to be woman. So im not surprised a cartoon rabbit for a show made for fags has audience members thinking Jaxs wants to be woman.

In recent light of the Pomni bathing suit reveal, there's been amusing discourse on X about if she qualifies as a loli, seeming to mainly stem from this post. Short, no ass, no boobs, big wide expressive eyes, totally checks all the boxes. Pomni lovers are arguing about her age, literally bringing in the "Actually, she's a 1000 year-old dragon!" argument. It's just amusing and shows the double standards harshly.
A bit late but I’ve got a few problems with that screenshot and the discussion surrounding it.

To start, the original assumption was that Pomni was modeled to look like a simplified game avatar. The question of “how childlike would her proportions be?” didn’t really come up cause she wasn’t supposed to have proportions. Which is why I’m personally not fucking with the idea of putting her in a swimsuit, at least not without changing her to look more human. Cause she really does look like a child then, which I don’t think was Gooseworx’s intention, but it still just looks wrong.

When it comes to whether I think she’s a loli, I don’t, cause afaik a loli has to be intentionally made to look like a child. And like I said, Pomni’s swimsuit design is rather an error.

When it comes to bashing Pomni lovers, I've never actually seen someone sexualize Pomni and make her look the same way she does in show, they always redesign her to look more like a 25 year old woman. So I can’t really see the “loli pedo” accusations sticking.

I’m excited for the episode either way.
Yeah, this isn't officially a kids' show.

The gun violence and swear words would never be acceptable in a true kids' show. Even the most lenient kids' network wouldn't allow Zooble's comment about wanting extra parts for sex.

That said, the creators know kids make up the vast majority of viewers, and they 100% market their merchandise to them.

It's a faux kids' show. It feels like a kids' show because it's has the maturity of one. Remove the edgy bits sprinkled in now and then, and this would've easily aired on Cartoon Network.
To an extent, Gooseworx cannot control who watches his show, and it’s unreasonable for anyone to expect him to make it that absolutely no minors watch it. But more can be done.

One thing is… Why aren’t any of the episodes age restricted? I understand that that tanks monetization and essentially makes the video invisible, but with how big Glitch is, I’m sure the episodes would still be found.

Though the merch never felt like it was marketed to kids to me, more so just 18-22 year olds.

Not even a Jax flashback with Kaufmo and his frog friend, just a fucking trippy sequence.
Holy shit guys, I love lore bait so much.

Come on LBT, you have the answer right there champ :smug:

Glitch needs those numbers.

Criticisms:
-The fact exit door on teaser was just bait and is not even on the episode is bad.
-The fact Jax is the only character that felt like a character in this episode and everyone else was just a yes man is quite bad.
-The fact they don't do flashbacks but instead bait trippy sequences is pretty bad.
-The fact the self-insert is becoming the voice of reason is stupid.
-The fact Kinger is not putting a facade and just has amnesia with bright lights is conveniently stupid.
-The fact we won't learn who was the first abstract until the next episode is terrible.
-The fact we are just leaning towards the "nothing really matters" ending is expected from someone that just made 1/3 of the series into filler and can't do basic worldbuilding.

nothing ever happens.webp

There's two episodes left to this. C'mon man.

We better get movie length episodes next to make up for 2 years straight of fucking nothing.

While making sure to hold hands with Gangle as if the yuri shippers needed anymore confirmation that THEY'RE TOTALLY HERE AND QUEER AND YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT, CHUDS.
Whatever, at least I got my wish of there being no elongated trauma dumping.

"I love Kinger and trust him the most out of anyone in this place, but I would NEVER EVER EVER ask him about his old coworker Abel before blindly going along with this plan!" - Pomni and Ragatha for some reason
(Also why the fuck were they loudly talking about Abel behind his back with him just a few feet away in that scene!? It's like the writer forgot they were supposed to think he was a real person, not an NPC.)

Yeah that was kind of garbage, I predicted that the mannequin was just a puppet of Caine literally from the first minute of him talking. Also most of the extended runtime people were excited about was wasted on the sequences of Jax tripping out and the Charlie Smiling Friend fish.

edit: We also got more of Gooseworx's barely disguised fetishes with Jax saying he's always dreamed of getting eaten by Caine :(

As a bonus, this did seem to make Jax snap out of almost being abstraction. And the “Caine can fuck with your mind” thing is fully addressed. Kingser seems to be able to think a bit clearer while not in the dark. And he probably is one of the original programmers since Abel didn’t want him remembering.

The episode was a bit of a bait and switch, but there WAS stuff important revealed. Just not the big huge one.

I am really frustrated with this show right now. I can see a great story and compelling characters, but its fucking buried under so much filler garbage.

"Finding a way out" should have been the focus from the end of episode 2 onwards with Pomni figuring out who to trust and trying to devise the true limits of the circus by breaking it intentionally like she did accidently in episode 2. Instead we get 5 episodes of filler with some focus on the characters that, while good, is still surrounded by filler garbage and no meaningful plot progression.

I hate it because I love Jax's reaction to being right and would have liked his character progression to have gone along with Pomni's plot progression instead of all the filler garbage. Hell, he is easily the best character in the show right now and its not even a close competition with the other characters. Hell I would have even loved the bait and switch had it been built up with prior episodes that weren't filler.

So fucking frustrating.

I think the problem is that the show is building towards having the exact same twist as SOMA: all the characters are brain scans, there is no way out other than deletion because they never had a body in the first place. It seems like such an obvious conclusion as opposed to the convoluted Matrix scenario Abel was telling them in this episode, and it's weird that nobody in the circus has even considered that possibility. As such, harping on too much about the "find an exit" plot would just lead more of the audience to guess the twist too early. Maybe the explanation will be that anyone who thought about it too hard abstracted from the existential crisis, idk.

That’s my thing, I don’t know if it does. They make a ton on merch and their more PG shows, I’m not familiar with YouTube’s workings but I can’t imagine it’d make too much of a dent

Idk.

Also just saw the new episode is here. I’ll watch it but I’ll say right now, I’m not shocked it’s a filler episode. I mean, it’s literally called “beach episode”. Unlike everyone else, I expect less disappointment since I don’t expect anything.

Second half of the episode had a pretty tense atmosphere leading up to the button press.

I'm still impressed I can come to watch the episodes an hour after they finished airing and see that it already has millions of views.

It's crazy that this show hasn't had a plot for 80% of its run and it was just a slice of life workplace sitcom for tumblr users the whole time instead of the horror show it was pitched as. The relationship drama isn't interesting and the voice actors being shit doesn't help. There's 2 episodes left and we barely know anything more about what's actually going on than the first episode.

It's funny that the twist is entirely dependent on Gooseworx assuming Cane and Abel is an obscure reference that his audience wouldn't pick up on.

This episode was a waste of time and "it was all a test!" is a worse type of twist than it was all a dream.

I will admit I fell for it.

No, I don’t mean the twist ending, but Goosework hyping this as an epic game changing episode, and instead we got yet another theory bait episode.

I can’t complain too much as I did enjoy it. But personaly I feel more, obviously, manipulated by the obvious breadcrumbs meant for theory tubers to content slop, than the ending.

What’s the meaning of all those background spheres? What was Jax past? Why did he press the button? What happened to Ribbit and Kauffmo? Etc.
