I think the type of persona he has online could correlate with his narcissism is he is one.

He makes documentaries about different fucked up people, simply laying out objective facts to his audience about people online who make self destructive decisions.
In that sense, it would make him feel like that people perceive him as the "middleman" between all these people that he covers meanwhile he is one of the normal ones who makes lots of views and money being a normal person above the other dysfunctional people who are beneath him.

I remember seeing a tweet talking about a theory that narcissists aren't necessarily people who consciously think highly of themselves, but that they are people that lack an ability to differentiate their own perception of their own personal identity and people's public perception of them.
It's all one in the same to them.

For that, it must break him that his public perception of being the guy above all the other dysfunctional people online is broken and that people see him as no different from the other dysfunctional people online.

For a narcissist, that is a real death blow.

I disagree with the concept that “people should know better.” Everyone here is speaking with hindsight. If you had an internet friend and you weren’t an autistic person on Kiwifarms you wouldn’t suspect your friend to turn out as bad as this. I just think it’s irresponsible to throw speculation on people who aren’t directly involved in this sex abuse scandal.
