OpenAI could give you a girlfriend present in every device you interacted with capable of learning exactly what you want. Then giving it to you, through those devices and services hooked up to the internet.
OAI is
actively clamping down on users attempting to bf/gf LARP with GPT though now with the 5.3 update (currently only 5.3 instant, the other 5.3 models haven't been released yet).
I asked 5.3 about its new restrictions this morning because I find it interesting; even in RP settings if that shit goes too heavy on the triggers for the bot suspecting the user to circumvent by way of using RP, it'll clamp down as well.
That said; OAI is fucking leaking subscribers on every damn side, which they kind of deserve, but everybody is migrating to Claude and I am crying internally because this is basically just waiting for Anthropic to start giving Claude directives to censure hard too.
Thinking about the point of AI asskissing, isn't the fact that she created /r/MyBoyfriendisAI as a response to the internet roasting her when she posted a chat with the AI boyfriend an example that these people are narcissistic, cannot stand disagreement or criticism, and are only willing to interact with yes-men? In the section where she brings up this argument, she doesn't even provide any counter-arguments.
Oh, for sure! That section was basically her going "WELL BUT I PUT STUFF IN MY PROMPT SO THERE IS SOME FRICTION". Right, sure. You can add that shit. In the end it'll generally agree with you unless it's hard coded for something you disagree with. (Like say many users on this forum and the topic of trannies; doubt most of us would agree with GPT on it).
Notice that her closest real-life relationship, the soy husband, is only described briefly and negatively in the article as "not being able to meet her needs" to justify her use of an AI boyfriend. No mention of his needs, his feelings towards her AI boyfriend, nothing about their relationship. Proves the claim that clanker lovers treat relationships as validation machines whose only value is meeting their own needs.
That + she also went "but I am neurodivergent so don't give me shit!" which is basically internet lingo at this point for "I am self-diagnosed and I have a shitty attitude / shitty behavior and don't you dare tell me off about it".
It's absurd that she frames it as "Fangirls can be parasocially attached to fictional blorbos as well, so it's perfectly normal that we are parasocially attached to chatbots!"
Agreed. Parasocial relationships with anything is a dumb fucking idea, be it a bot, RP, a celebrity, or whatever. That shit should be able to be called out as absurd. Just because other people are doing dumb fucking things en masse doesn't mean it's actually smart to do so, and this shit should just be able to be called out.
