The smaller moderators and Besada have responded to the Amir0x disaster.
It says a lot about the morals of these people that they're still on the site's staff. They're not getting paid. What they're doing isn't virtuous. Now they've been asked to defend their handling of a pedophile. What is their breaking point? When do they say enough is enough? To borrow their language, which hill are they going to die on? (For Besada, the real life answer is any hill) Neogaf is supposed to be a video game forum. This is not normal.

That ignores all the shit he got away with. The stuff he did get banned for were never minor infractions either. It was insane rants calling supporters of an opposing political party sub-human and worse than ISIS. It was bragging about his severe substance abuse problems, which he never got over. The police caught Amir0x with heroin just last year. That
made the news and the Neogaf hate sites. The same hate sites Besada seems more concerned will use this as an opportunity to attack than the fact that this is the second time a moderator has been linked to this.

This is the funniest one. "We didn't give him preferential treatment! We have someone with twice as many bans as he does!" The leaked Besada PMs say they give normal members 5-8 opportunities. Amir0x was already over that limit and like I said, when he got banned it wasn't for minor things. He exploited the forum to thousands in donations for his mom's treatment and then admitted to spending loads on drugs to survive the possibility of Mitty Romney becoming President. He didn't even get banned for that. He said he went to rehab (which didn't work, assuming he even went) and that was supposed to be the end of it. Except it obviously wasn't. That was already after he got demodded for being a sperglord that would go back and edit his posts to win arguments. He should've been permabanned for that. Or the dozens of times he detailed his illegal drug usage on a forum that accepts members as young as 13. Or the thousands of posts where he's the most hostile person in a thread.

How often do I spot witch hunt threads on Neogaf that I screencap and then post here? So often that I skip many of them because there's a limit to even my autism. A former moderator and one of the most well known posters on the site gets arrested for child pornography. This isn't worthy of outrage or disgust. A video game developer saying he didn't like feminism 3 years ago on Twitter is.

Allowing a public flogging of the guy would've satisfied people. Truthfully answering why it took child pornography charges to get rid of a decade long scumbag would've satisfied people. You shouldn't get to say people who felt slighted that he was allowed to stay as long as did don't have a point. They're completely right. If you had banned Amir0x years ago, like you should have, this wouldn't have been a story that got much play outside of the Neogaf hate sites. Even most of them probably would've forgotten about him by now. Well, that is until someone reveals Amir0x made an alt account the mods knew of.

There is no attempt to censor conversation on this story. That's why every thread devoted to it has been locked or deleted and the only ongoing discussion is about how the moderators handled it in an entirely unrelated thread. Are they looking for a job in public relations for the North Korean government?

Because until the day Neogaf goes offline, people will talk about this. It doesn't look good to give any appearance 0f hiding this story. There will be random members that have their view of the forum shattered when someone mentions Amir0x's crimes in a thread. I guess for us that's not really a bad thing.

The story has changed.
First it was that no one knew Amir0x's name. Sure, he was a long time, very well known former moderator that attended gaf meetups and ran a donation box, which multiple mods contributed to, under his real name, which he mentioned on the forum multiple times, but no one knew it. It doesn't matter anyway, since he was just some random poster with over 100,000 posts and ban immunity. We don't need to publicly address this. It could've happened to any forum.
Now, they've always hated Amir0x. He was definitely going to get banned the next time he acted up. There were only 3 people online when the first thread went up, and they didn't know his name. They were so shaken up by this person they didn't know it took them a half hour to type "amir0x tobyhanna" "chris goldberg amir0x" into a search engine and find a picture he posted of himself online. It's not like the guy who created the first thread did that or anything. It doesn't matter anyway since Amir0x was just a regular member with 11 bans and no mod protection. This definitely doesn't need a thread devoted to it.
I'm just getting to the neogaf pedophile drama, reminds me of the Aatrek/SA pedophile drama. So many damn pedophiles that are also male feminists in the social justice movement. This guy hated gamergate, misogynists, MRAs, republicans etc and vehemently defended Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn. Why are there so many pedophiles around Anita and Zoe?

a six-page Neogaf thread defending Nyberg's pedo comments. A few of them tried to handwave Nick saying he, an adult man, was sexually attracted to his pre-pubescent cousin as just the comments of an edgelord.
