The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer

With all other parts.

This is why Toby Fox never engaged with his fanbase. To preserve his sanity.

Are trannies even capable of effectively writing horror?

Tolkien wrote a masterpiece with clear influence from having served years in the trenches. Some of these troons **are** the trenches.

A few of them will cook up something good.

This is something I will never get. He clearly is capable of dark humor, and being edgy, he picked a dark premise with massive horror potential. And all he delivered is a show that‘s, unofficially, for kids.

Now to be fair I am enjoying TADC, and I would be lying if I didn’t say I got entertained by it, so I will stick till the end.

But I would also be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t disappointed this wasn’t the horror show I was expecting. Even if they go full on SOMA theory for the finale won’t change the fact most of the show was mostly goofy fun, with some therapy sessions, and dark jokes here and there.

That fan made Kaufmo prequel really showcases how much the horror premise was wasted.

It would be hard to keep true horror going for such a length of a time as 9 episodes without a singular plot going through them, but I get what you mean. This and to an extent Omori both fall into this trap of trying to wed cutesy art & characters with "secret" horror themes only to flub expectations for both. (Both have a really similar type of fandom also when you think about it). It's that meme of Muscle Man fighting those tellytubbies in his nightmares. It's a shame, and I think a good part of it is due to their respective creators being "eccentric", but it might just be that hard of a premise to pull off. TADC at least isn't entirely pretending to be serious.

Gaslight is DOA because of a few different things. First of all, 90% of the viewers are only tuning in for Mel. It's good that she's the main character but the bigger problem is that she's the only marketable design out of the whole bunch. Which is just not sustainable. Secondly, the whole "Zombies/Hell vs Angels/Heaven" shtick is so played out already, you have Hazbin the thank for that. Finally, as you say it's just way too schizophrenic in tone. It's trying to be a comedy, a "badass" action show, and a lore heavy muh feelings cartoon all at once. Ask Steven Universe how that panned out

Yes, just like with KoG, almost all the fanart Gaslight receives is just of one character, and that is Mel. Also, a large portion of the fanart this series gets is crossover fan art, which isn't necessarily bad, but it gives me the impression that most people don't care about Gaslight unless it's connected to a previous Glitch series.

There's tons of fanart of Cyn and Mel together. I know it's because they have the same VA, but it makes me think people wouldn't be interested in Gaslight if it weren't for its association with Glitch. KoG doesn't have that, KoG doesn't need to immediately associated with either TADC or MD to be well-known. Princess Lapis Lazuli with space buns might be the only character people actually like and care about, but I don't see them immediately linking her to Murder Drones because she's a robot, There are some crossover fanart pieces out there, but they're fewer compared to Gaslight.

Speaking of KoG, there's a point I'd like to add, and is that Gaslight got sandwiched between TADC and KoG. You have an edgy web cartoon released between the worldwide phenomenon that officially kicked off the Indie Renaissance and a show that's shitting on corpos created by an animation industry veteran. Even if the Gaslight pilot has more views than KoG's pilot, most people are more hyped about KoG than Gaslight. I'm not lying when I say that in the last 3 months I haven't seen anyone talk about Gaslight in as much detail as KoG. It seems people are more interested in the anti-corporate show than in the Heaven vs. Hell but CGI show. Poor Gaslight, I kinda feel a bit bad for it. By the time episode 2 is released, the hype for the show will be dead.

Omori is literally another "edgy but quirky" piece of media. Here's a meme in spanish shitting on Omori, Murder Drones, and other similar media that I posted in the Glitch thread earlier this year. The translation literally says "You know the product is going to be shit when the characters look like this".

Main issue is that Mel is the only character with a story. The other characters are either linked to her completely or filler that won't change. It doesn't help that most of the plot eas already revealed in the pilot so there's nothing to look for.

It's such a juvenile overused trope by now.

A bit of a shame really, The Gaslight District is probably the only GLITCH show I'm actually hyped about, it does a lot of things that I genuinely like: The "Tim Burton" Clay CGI artystyle is really breathtaking, the script actually feels like it's something written by a professional writer rather than having the "quirky chungus millennial humor" the other series have, I adore the visual gags (like Mel being caught because she got a nosebleed like an anime character), and I genuinely love the characters and their "ugly" designs.

My only real issue with the pilot was just the pacing and I didn't really care about the overall lore, but hey, if I find the characters and the setting cool enough, then I really don't mind in overlooking its flaws

... Maybe it's a good thing that it's not as popular as the other GLITCH shows, I wouldn't want to deal with the The Amazing "we must kiss Goose's boo boos because they got criticized once" Circus fandom all over again.

Either way, I hope we end up having something good in our hands, Nick seems like a cool and competent director, and hopefully I won't have to wear the "fell for it again" award when the show crashes out in a dumpster fire like MD snd TADC.

so this is a video by silverfox1232 about how indie shows (and vidya games) is becoming slop, most of the video is centered on glitch productions with the big ticket item being about tadc. figured i'd post about this video here too as well as the glitch thread
