Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

What is it with gays and lesbians and shipping people who are just friends as if they can't be simple friends, no they got to be in a romantic relationship.

Maybe I'm just out of the loop since I'm not much of a dnd guy, but genuinely how the fuck did a podcast of some dudes playing an existing fucking boardgame get SO POPULAR they even made a cartoon based on it?
Right place at the right time to ride the wave of a resurgent Tabletop RPG fad combined with professional VAs who all have Reddit darling status making a show depicting the platonic ideal of a D&D game for infantile retards. Critical Role is to TTRPG what porno is to actual sex.

They're getting nigger'd now though, so that's funny.

Gays and gender specials have taken their sexual fetish and turned it into their entire identity. Of course absolutely everything in their lives is about sex.

I'm rewatching Little Bear with my toddler. Oh man, I love this show. It still holds up. Everyone talks so respectfully and there's no overexplaining. As an adult, I now really understand the adult characters. It's up to the audience to figure out the moral if there is any, but most of the time it's SOL. The late 19th century setting is so dang cozy too. Every character has their quirks and everyone appreciates each other. Duck makes me lol.

Little Bear and his parents eat soup all the gosh dang time and it makes me want soup.

New DreamWorks movie trailer dropped.
Looks pretty forgettable, but one thing caught my attention at the beginning.

Ladies and gentlemen, if DreamWorks plays their cards right, we may actually get a movie that acknowledges 9/11.

You guys ever see that Shankar made a Simpson animation where he gose to the Kicky mart and whines at apu for being a "hurtful stereotype"?
"Hurtful stereotype"?! Motherfucker, Apu was the main reason Pajeets were tolerated in the U.S. to begin with. In hindsight, we should probably be thankful that Aziz Ansari blew his shit over Apu - one of the main catalysts of everyone waking up to just how insidious the Pajeet menace could really be.

Everyone did the Apu impression back in the day, but no one actually disliked the character. He was a favourite of a lot of people I knew.

It certainly goes there in its simplicity with world and characters.

Might I also recommend Kipper the Dog for you two? A nice little bit of old British coziness.

If you want something bong related, try Count Duckula or Funnybones.

Actually Garfield & Friends was 1988 to 1995. 1982 was the start of the TV specials that came out once a year or so.

There's a cartoon reviewing manchild who made a pretty good video dissecting that whole issue, but the case I'd like to make as to why this is retarded is:
If you remove Apu, what other notable Indian representation do you have in modern media? That guy from Squid Games who was a total bro until he was betrayed? Guys from 20-30 year old sitcoms? Kumar from Harold and Kumar? Ok well, what does the modern-day American populace think of when they think of Indians? They think about every guy Kitboga has ever called when he trolls tech support scam centers. Ask any child what they think of when they think of India, they're going to scream "DO NOT REDEEM!" like an Indian, as loud as they can. So who do we want being the first thing Americans think of when they think about the nonspecific Indian person? The hard-working convenience store clerk who's kind of a jerk that intentionally gouges prices, while also remaining a close friend of the main characters, or Indian scammers who try to take the money out of real-life old peoples' banking accounts, or Indian twitter posters who incessently reply to women's selfies, etc. etc.? No matter what their response is, follow up with "What do you think of when you think of Americans" and ask them how we feel about that.
That actually wasn't Aziz Ansari, but the actual guy who flipped his shit is so utterly pathetic and irrelevant that I don't blame you for mistaking the two. They are both Indians anyway so their opinions should immediately thrown in the trash where they belong.
I don't remember his name either but I recall seeing one of his "comedy" show's episodes shortly after that whole thing, and he's barely a comedian. He relies on baiting out clapter instead of getting an actual laugh out of the audience. What he really wanted was to bully the showrunners of the Simpsons into giving him the role of Apu, but they called his bluff and instead got black VAs for the black characters. I can't believe that irrelevant faggot sparked the whole "you must be this brown to voice this character" shit.

Might I also recommend Kipper the Dog for you two?
As in the dog they call Kipper?
Ringo Thomas
It's interesting how most people don't care about Ringo Starr's contribution to the Beatles, yet he's seen as an icon among Thomas the Tank Engine fans.

It's the same problem with people trying to cancel Speedy Gonzales. Yes, both him and Apu lean into stereotypes associated with their ethnicities, but at the end of the day, neither one is treated negatively because of their race.
