I'm rewatching Little Bear with my toddler. Oh man, I love this show. It still holds up. Everyone talks so respectfully and there's no overexplaining. As an adult, I now really understand the adult characters. It's up to the audience to figure out the moral if there is any, but most of the time it's SOL. The late 19th century setting is so dang cozy too. Every character has their quirks and everyone appreciates each other. Duck makes me lol.

Little Bear and his parents eat soup all the gosh dang time and it makes me want soup.

Everyone did the Apu impression back in the day, but no one actually disliked the character. He was a favourite of a lot of people I knew.

If you remove Apu, what other notable Indian representation do you have in modern media? That guy from Squid Games who was a total bro until he was betrayed? Guys from 20-30 year old sitcoms? Kumar from Harold and Kumar? Ok well, what does the modern-day American populace think of when they think of Indians? They think about every guy Kitboga has ever called when he trolls tech support scam centers. Ask any child what they think of when they think of India, they're going to scream "DO NOT REDEEM!" like an Indian, as loud as they can. So who do we want being the first thing Americans think of when they think about the nonspecific Indian person? I don't remember his name either but I recall seeing one of his "comedy" show's episodes shortly after that whole thing, and he's barely a comedian. He relies on baiting out clapter instead of getting an actual laugh out of the audience. What he really wanted was to bully the showrunners of the Simpsons into giving him the role of Apu, but they called his bluff and instead got black VAs for the black characters. I can't believe that irrelevant faggot sparked the whole "you must be this brown to voice this character" shit.
