Warhammer 40k

I never played a tabletop game and the sperg inside me has been infatuated with 40k ever since watching those Astartes videos.

Someone suggested I can use this 'game' called Tabletop Simulator to break into 40k n' learn the basics before committing.

Is this the way, or are there other suggestions to get started? I don't know any turbonerds irl who are into this sorta shit so I'm flyin solo.
There is the game side and the hobby side (further split into models, books, games).

Tabletop simulator is your best bet given your situation. However if you enjoy the modelling part of 40k, youll find local groups soon enough, just need to work for it.

I want to go deep into it. Im into building scale models and rc shit. If this clicks my goal is to get a resin 3d printer to pump out my minis then put in the effort to do a good job painting them.

If youre already into models, pick the faction you like the look of and let us know, theres probably a good box to get for them. Probably combat patrol but some are better than others.

Whilst you can get a printer, I dont recommend it for minis. Its a separate hobby which takes time and money to get good at. Ive seen a few spreadsheets that put resin printing at 2 armies of models before breaking even on cost. Even then, if you have an interest in playing, painting models up that might be not allowed in play or certain stores will be a feelsbad moment for the time and skill you put into it.

As long as you buy a box or two and finish them before buying more, you should be fine.

No shit I wasn't aware of this. Thanks for the heads up, I'll start off like you suggested.

So, as Marines recruit from the entire planet, and we know that both Raven Guard and Salamander Geneseed will change the Marines' skin to a specific tone, I had this idea.

Buddy cop story where a Raven Guard who looks like a Mbuti hunter-gatherer covered in chalk joins a Salamander who is a Scandinavian in blackface.

"You people..."
"What do you mean you people..."

Can even run into Gadriel and make a joke about how the Ultramarines all look alike.

They also are joined by a Blood Angel who keeps his helmet on the whole story, with everyone else speculating how much of a sexy twink he is underneath since Blood Angels always wind up resembling Sanguinius....only for it to be revealed at the end he is from the aboriginal tribes of Baal and actually looks like this

*Black Rage immediately takes hold*

Actually he staves it and the red thirst off by sniffing promethium.

There is a pivotal scene in the climax where the team is fighting off a swarm of genestealers and the Viking-lookin Salamander points his customised heavy flamer at the Broodlord and pulls the trigger....only for an embarrassingly feeble sputter of sparks to come out. Cut to the abbo blood angel lying face down on the floor and surrounded by empty fuel tanks, gently convulsing and mumbling to himself, utterly heedless of the carnage around him.

EDIT: Other members of the buddy cop team are as follows
  1. An Iron Hand techmarine who claims to suffer from Electromagnetic hypersensitivity and is basically just a cyborg Chuck from Better Call Saul
  2. An incredibly nervous and paranoid Imperial Fist Librarian who lives in constant terror the rest of the team will find out about his chapter's dark secrets
  3. A Space Wolf chaplain whose Calix Helix mutations have advanced to the point he is literally a roided up Labrador in canine power armour now with the behaviour and intelligence to match
  4. A White Scars scout with crippling motion sickness who throws up so much he has learned to weaponize it by mixing it with his acid spit
  5. The sole surviving native american Dark Angel apothecary who spends his time smoking a gigantic peace pipe and muttering about fucking paleface retcons

"By Vulcan's eyes, what is this "dreamtime" he's babbling about?!"

You know, I keep seeing people asking for Ogryn or other abhuman as marines, with some arguing that Blood Angel geneseed could do it, as they work on mutants.
But, the end result is uniform, my idea would be that an Ogryn that somehow becomes a Blood Angel would be indistinguishable from a regular marine, even fixes his brain.

Instead of the N word, they get called Terran

In the Death Guard they definitely used Terran as their N-word. I think they were the worst for that.

EC had two of their biggest problems come from the Terran stock, Eidolon and Fabius. So make of that what you will.

Ironically the Salamanders didn't really have a Terran problem. Mostly because before Vulkan was found they were on the verge of extinction because they were regularly throwing themselves into Lamenter-grade clusterfucks all to save only a few people. The more hot-headed ones among the survivors got turned into his Pyreclast destroyer units because even a nice guy like Vulkan has his limits, but assimilation between the two groups went pretty smoothly.
Even in the planet of blacks, there are nigs.
The protagonist of Nick Kyme's Tome of Fire books is an Igger, believe it or not. One of his rivals in the Chapter (and a bitter loser at that) regularly talks shit to his face about his origins and the other Salamanders just go "Bit of a dick thing to say, but..." and move on.

The key is Terrans in loyalists=lore reason for traitor loyalists and Terrans in traitors=lore reason for loyalist traitors.

The only exception is the WB cause they “ACK’d” all their loyalists and any remaining Terrans were lost in the sauce like Sor Talgron and Zardu Layak.

Ngl I'm sad the musical is only an April Fool's joke, I'd gladly go see that thing with friends and a couple of beers.
The return of the Squats/LoV seemed to be only an April Fools joke.

GW just released a follow-up bts to the musical, it looks like a lot of effort for a simple joke, I think they're testing the waters.
