Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Break the shackles of Capitalism to set us free

What do you get when you cross the border?
Hiding in the attic, avoiding the Orange Fuhrer
I.C.E. agents, where they at? Someone's going to rat
What do you think will come of that?
I don't want to be deported back

The Oompa-Loompas are going to be racially coded aren't they?
They took one look at the Animal Farm movie, and said "You call that missing the point of the source material?"
How do you do my fellow fans, remember that joke from the early 2000's about Charlie and the Chocolate factory? Well, we took it seriously and made a movie about it.
Reminds me of how the Mario Galaxy movie made a couple "barrel roll" jokes for Fox because it's the only thing out-of-touch executives know about Star Fox.
Speaking of Netflix, they released a trailer for the Mating Season cartoon

It... it's furry Big Mouth. That's it.
"How can you have fun and wonder when there is so much suffering around you?!" - their logic
"Kindness is punk rock!" -The same people last summer.

people actually like history of stunk? future trunks as a whole is a shit character
Isn't bad.
Imagine one of the greatest warriors dying by a flu and your mentor never got his best before dying too.
All the planet, completely devastated by two faggots.
The movie considering those events is great; more depressing stuff is always welcome ala-Chrono Trigger and the future.

Cell's saga is more experimenting that quality.

Imagine taking something as whimsical as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and turning Willy Wonka into a literal incarcerated criminal who shouldn't be around children. Our generation literally cannot have childlike wonder anymore.
Iirc the Oompas were a weird Polynesian Mandingo tribe that Wonka discovered in the book, they changed them to be orange dwarves in the 70s version.

Idk why they're making more Willy Wonka when kids nowadays aren't going to be impressed by the designs and effects at the time.
It might be a more interesting angle to write the new kids as cynical and unimpressed by the factory because of how much more knowledgeable about the world they would be then kids from when the original movie came out. Similar to how Tim Burton wrote Mike Tevey in his version as a little smart ass gamer.

It’s all industrial revenge for Roald Dahl not liking the Gene Wilder film and refusing to let them use The Great Glass Elevator. They’d do the same to his other books, but Wonka movies are the only ones anyone bothers watching. They hate him for saying they suck and for creating media good enough to back that opinion up. It’s what they’re doing to Tolkien and Roddenberry.

For the record: I think Dahl’s opinion of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is retarded and he’s only vindicated by the massive decline and vindictive sabotage in modern media in general.

How come we have yet to receive an animated adaptation of Bone?

I know in the Johnny Depp version (my favorite movie version of Willy Wonka) the Oompa Loompas were some kind of tribe from Loompaland, so I guess they're already "racially coded," but 2005 was around the end of the times you could get away with that without having to kneel and perform penance for colonialism.
This reminds me of the Avocado Animations video about the Oompa Loompas. I wonder if the "Charlie Vs" people were inspired by it.

If we're talking about the 1954 version, that had the excuse of being funded by the CIA through a shell company. IIRC pretty much no one involved in the making of the cartoon realized they were being played.

ETA: Wait, there was a much more recent one (2025/2026)? Scrap that, then. These guys are retards.
