I'm not sure its even cowardice, but intellectual capacity is a good way to put it, and this situation is an extremely good example of peoples capacity, and how intelligence and intellectual capacity are different. One can be intelligent, but also insane, or shortsighted, missing the big picture , or just unaware at inner workings, ect.
Some just can't see how fucking REPULSIVE this "apology" is, but I'll try to explain it because holy shit I think its an important picture.
For everyone here they (hopefully) know this situation with mod layoffs was a culmination and result of dozens of shit decisions he did, and never apologized for. Skg, wow raid, dr k, pvt parts dmca, skg double down, ect. Each and every single one of these he probably should of apologized for, and didn't (or in skg case, apologized for being "rude" but not blatant lies), and built animosity, hurt his brand, ect. And when it hits critical mass, he "apologizes" for "HAVING an opinion" which resulted in people laid off.
Nobody was really UPSET at his mod team being laid off, besides maybe the mods, nobody finds it a moral failure if your business suffers and cuts happen. Literally nobody . at the end of the day its math. And having an opinion, by itself, is completely fine. But that's so generalized it's like people saying "I'm trying to live my life" when they are trying to fuck dogs. Nobody is upset at you living your life, they're upset at you fucking dogs. He might as well be saying "I'm sorry math is math because I said words" and expect ass pats for being the bigger man and owning up to something, while if you try holding the thing he apologized for against him, he can laugh because nobody needs to apologize for it anyway, OR use it as a victim card, because "actually its skgs fault".
This is what makes this whole fucking "apology" situation infuriating to a level I really struggle to articulate properly, and without a hyperbole , just to express how insane it is.
Maybe some people think my ass is autistic for thinking this, maybe I just can't articulate it, but something about this just infuriates me, and I'd almost even want to say its the worst thing he's done so far.

That he embellished his career, rose off nepotism and manipulation, gamed his fame, treated COUNTLESS people like absolute trash, nearly killed one of the most prolific consumer movements in years, dmcad a small creator, let his friends die in wow without once saying "my bad, got scared", blew off and laughed at a psychologist trying to help him, doubled down on trying to kill the consumer movement when admission of wrong was the easiest win possible, and not once, not ONCE did he genuinely apologize for any of that. No remorse, no feel bad, no regret, no hesitation, no gleam in his eyes of "am I the baddy?".....WELL no, he DID apologize for "being rude" to ross, but even THAT was minimizing it from being disinformation and lies, to a condescending "oh, I'm sorry I hurt your fee fees", when the rudeness was auxiliary to the lies , which remain unaddressed.
And after all that, with not one iota of REAL apology, regret, or condolences, or pity... he apologizes for "expressing his opinion". Worse still, people are praising him for it, as if he FINALLY took full accountability and had a deep reflection on his failures, while it also could at THE SAME TIME generate pity for him to those who buy it, if they think "oh, he got so much destroyed by skg because he had an opinion? Wow skg are jerks who took the mods jobs". But its "expressing his beliefs", so you shouldn't even be against it anyway right? So its LITERALLY no big deal rite guys?
Its a vile, pernicious, devious , scheming slight of hand play, showing the ONE TALENT Jason has : manipulation. As he has rolled a play of reputation restoration, pity production, and "its literally no big deal", Into a single statement. I'd be in awe of the grandiose gaslighting if I didn't hate him so much.
