Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Oh yeah Koji also wrote the lyrics for Sinister and in the Keynote he tells us he did research on BDSM online to get the lyrics accurate. He even showed the Wikipedia page but with all the nsfw things censored out.
Looking at him, that doesn't surprise me.

Also, it was smart of Square to slow-roll the cross-region PF now

Haven't actually been paying much attention to Fanfest announcements, what's the TLDR on the evolved combat stuff/job stuff in general exactly?
In addition to what Baron said, they're moving away from "party utility = damage buffs" pretty hard. All of the old buff window stuff is going away and the few utility things we've seen have been focused on movement speed, shields, etc.

Also there's going to be a greater emphasis on GCD healing. I think they've rightly realized that oGCD healing toolkits have become far too powerful to the point of making GCD healing almost always the wrong move. New design is that GCD heals provide resource for your damage spells.

My gut feeling is that new fights will be less about DPS checks and more about mobility and heal checks.

WHM is my main healer for dungeons and yeah I can’t remember the last time I heavily relied on any GCD healing outside of low level synched content with the exception of the obvious Esuna or putting a Regen on a tank. OGCD heals were enough to keep even the most retarded tanks alive. Though yet again I only use WHM in dungeons if I want to shut my brain off or bypass queue times.

Also dunno how I feel seeing my actual main job (WAR) having to sit on the OT cuck couch with other tanks but I’m just going to wait and see.

straight up Western Hollywood/Game of Thrones-esque thinking, retarded.
Man I'll take it over more lame ass rubber bullet shit like Dawntrail, making a big thematic deal of sacrifice in Ultima Thule without actually sacrificing anyone, cucking out on killing Thancred after his fight with Ranjiht etc.

I don't actually care if they kill anyone or not. I picked Alphinaud because he's in the sweet spot of being relevant to players while not actually having any purpose. I'd be equally happy if they just retired the Scions and let them go their separate ways.
Keeping characters around when their arc is already over and they have nothing left to do but make quips is also typically Western bad writing, If they HAVE to drag them back for the new saga, then they may as well give them a good exit.

If the 9.0 trailer has another pointless scene of Estinien fighting some gay monster while saying gay generic fighter man dialogue because they abandoned his original personality 3 expansions ago, I'm going to vomit.

I don't really know how they come up with the logic of WAR and DRK being OT focused when they're both based around taking direct damage. Hopefully they sit on more of a spectrum with WAR being capable of fulfilling both roles or something.

This game really has an identity crisis going on, I haven't played Dawntrail yet but the gear and locations I've seen look like Phantasy Star Online 2 crap and this NGE crossover isn't going to help. Visually the game peaked at Heavensward.

The confusion thing about the Eva raid is what the fuck are we going to be doing in the raid, like are going to fight an angel? Does everyone get a mech?
Random SEELE mooks, Angel hybrids, and 100 different versions of Mass Produced Evas. Location could be anything, like Tokyo-3, NERV HQ, all the way down to Terminal Dogma, or worse- AAA Wunder. We'll probably see miniaturized versions of Rebuild angels, definitely Sachiel, or copouts like the goo virus one.

Who am I kidding, we're getting Ramiel or Leliel since Yoshi-P likes geometric shape enemies and Evas will be fighting in the background as we settle for mostly Rebuild slop.

So is the consensus for Dawn Trail that the base story for it is abysmal dogshit while the post-game stuff is decent?
It does get better but the first few patches after 8.0 are still spent in Tural, half of one patch is dedicated to Wuk Lamat's brother learning about buffalo and completely glazing over the fact that his parents abandoned him as a child because that's just what his retarded feather indian culture does I guess.
We don't get to ditch the stinky troon until the end of 7.4 iirc but they have the good sense to ease up on her a bit and include a True and Honest Woman with Speeeehn. There's a new super cool hacker villain who looks like a character from Yu-Gi-Oh. No real plot hooks set up leading into 7.5, except for a brief Ascian tease.
I'd call it about on par with the 6.x patches.

Personally the only good thing from dawntrail for me are the raids and the alliance raid. Didnt like occult crescent and this is coming from someone who loves bozja. My favorite boss has to be the Beatrix looking one.

Story is pretty horrible, but about par for MMO story. Which is an issue because that was one of the features of XIV: a good (by MMO standards.)

I would recommend going to another language for DT and just scan through things. I say scan through because they repeat things over and over that you’ll get the gist of things. I guess this is Netflix writing or something for overstimulated Zoomers.

The actual content is pretty good to great with the exception of OC which is decidedly “meh.” I enjoy it as a mindless grindy thing I can do, but there was a lot lacking for it.

lmao there was a question about male and female aura at the Q&A panel that basically boiled down to, "why can't we have big, masculine lizard women"

Instead of a normal non-committal corpo answer, Yoshi-P basically went into a tangent about sexual dimorphism and the trannies got audibly upset about it.

I'm thinking we're back (and trannies will never be women).
Of course some fucking tranny coded faggot would ask some stupid question like that. Sexual dimorphism is an actual thing that exists, biologically, in nature. So of course they would absolutely despise it because it goes against everything they've been brainwashed to believe. People wanting to turn their mod beast abominations into real things in the lore. We can't have a fanfest anymore without someone being an absolute retard.

The TL;DR is basically just returning to how it was pre-stormblood where most jobs had a main combo and a side combo that would maintain a buff or something like that except with one button combo being added to the combos (PvP combos), as well as one-button skill changing to various skills based on your target (Such as Dragoons positionals automatically changing to the correct one based on where you are standing relative to the target, Healer DoT or Regen changing based on friend/foe etc), which is what these autocombo plugins did anyway.

And all jobs getting continuation for OGC's. I say all, but Paladin was only one so far blatantly shown with it, so it's just a safe assumption.

Oh cool, that sounds like the sort of combat job change that might actually bring me back to the game. Actually sounds like more than one step in the direction I've wanted for years, even if I could do without the one-button stuff.

Especially if it comes bundled with them rethinking encounter design to be a bit less focused on DPS races and constant fast-paced 8/8 position checks where one person standing with half a toe out of line wipes the party, but I will restrain my hopes on that one.

The problem with DT's main story is that there's literally way too fucking much of it. I can only assume they gave the writers a quota because they mentioned in interviews about how it was, "AS LONG AS ENDWALKER BTW." The problem with this is that there's not enough going on to justify that kind of length and as a result a lot of it gets filled up with empty platitudes about diversity+tacos and/or Wuk Lamat (sometimes both simultaneously).

The core story beats are fine. Not incredible, but largely inoffensive, and everything past level 76 or so starts to get interesting. But the pace is fucking atrocious and it's a slog to get through if you actually try to tackle it like a normal FF14 MSQ.

I will say as someone who's only started the patch content yesterday - Wuk Lamat is far more endearing when she gets 1/10th the screen time and I don't have to watch her act retarded for 30 minutes straight. I'm still not completely sold on the VA but playing the patch content after an extended hiatus makes it blindingly obvious that DT's problem was too much stupid bullshit filler and not the core cast or plot. If they cut the amount of text in half to Stormblood length, I think it would have been fine as a chill 'reset story stakes' expansion.

Nigga they say, FROM THE OUTSET that you have the power to bring them back, the point of their sacrifices isn't to give you a death rugpull, its supposed to be symbolic of humanity as a concept, how every victory, every road, every push forward, cost human lives, every acheivement, everything we've ever accomplished was built on the backs of millions of people, and now its down to your 7 best friends all making their claims against entropy, despair, and hoplessness.

none of them are more clear than G'raha's little speech to the Robot Omega race being.

there's a reason each being they oppose are their mirror opposite or have something thematically tied to them, Esteninan to conflict with another Race and what that brings, Urianger and Y'shtola with the pursuit of knowledge being told by a doomsaying race that everything has already been learned and its fucked.. G'raha Tia with existentialism over what it means to be alive/yourself, ect.

You know what, giving it thought, they should just had done a collab with digimon. Would been cool to fight against the royal knights or the 7 demon lords.
I know next to nothing of Digimon but I'd be for it if they put this guy in.

He was in some Digimon movie a friend had on VHS way back in the day and he made me think "oh Digimon is just Pokemon for kids that want to have nightmares."

nice job ignoring everything else I said
So if everyone opposes a particular nihilistic outlook, what does Thancred symbolise by instantly disappearing causing Ultima Thule to have an atmosphere? Is he standing against the murder of George Floyd by making sure we can breathe? It's almost like the writers had literally nothing else to do with him by that point so they just poofed him out without a single line of dialogue.
And yeah, Thancred's whole arc is about him sacrificing himself, him specifically, putting away his wants for the sake of others by first trying to save Minfilia, then letting go of her so Ryne could have her own life. Him dying (ideally in ShB) would not have been meaningless, it would've been a noble end to his character.

I appreciate that you can find meaning in Endwalker but imagine trying to act like this game doesn't have a recurring problem with rugpull deaths
And again I don't even necessarily want them dead, I want them to shit or get off the pot.
