I think trump is ...lets go with 'overstating matters' about "Pipelines exploding" but.....

Unlike fracked oil (where you generally need to pump down a fluid to displace the oil), a lot of mideeast oil is under natural pressure from geology and natural gas. This is why Iraq setting the Kuwaiti oil feilds alight was such a huge problem. once you drill a well, you can't just turn the handle on the spigot, the only way to close a well is to collapse it and hope the geologic presure tamps it closed.

I had a property with a oil well on it that was virtually depleted, the company who had the lease had stopped pumping oil and had moved to just collecting the small ammount of natural gas coming out. When I activated the lease termination clause because i wanted to have the mineral rights free-and-clear, they had to close the well it took them a couple weeks to get their equipment out and "restore" the area.

The thing that makes Iran's oil so cheap to exploit means they can't just stop it. Remember oil was discovered in the region because it just naturally bubbled up and pooled on the surface.

I'm not familiar with the pressures involved at Iranian wellheads but I think "exploding" is overstating the situation by a large margin. From my understanding Iran has a lot of "agressive oozers" but not gushers. However it will damage the pipeline and very likely cause leaks if pressure is allowed to build - the ground produces more pressure than a pipeline will be able to withstand, so its going to fail and leak oil.
which is also going to be a big problem after things move again - your pipeline will need scruturabl repairs and so will all the senors.

They aren't hauling oil tankers slated for ship breaking to their terminals because they're bored.

Also it's not 10%, I doubt it's even 15% as this graph shows, because China uses places like Hong Kong and Vietnam as proxies to export shit to the US. The other thing is they make most of their profit by exporting to the US because we're fucking rich. Other countries do not pay as much as we pay so their margins are lower.
