EVs are retarded, at least right now. They take a long time to charge, your travel plans have to revolve around the location of chargers within your range, and I’m not sure if all EVs can use all the chargers out there.

Anyone, at least one of those is at a mall, which may offer free EV charging, if this nigger bought an EV to get free charging at work right before he fucked off and sued the shit out of them, alololol (I think the timelines don't match up but anyway)
I've suspected free charging was Russ' business model, there's enough of of it within the areas he haunts.. Now that he's potentially homeless slow-charging would actually be his preference. He can take a nap with the aircon on and no ones going to say a thing about someone dozed off in a charging EV. Unlimited door dash deliveries, no gas to eat up the "profits".

This shitty quick search for FREE charging locations, with Russ' former condo in the center. The availability of free charging may have been the idea why he got the EV. Unlimited deliveries with no gas money!

If he’s taking private loans, why didn’t he have enough money for a car down payment and rent?
I maintain, still, that he could've paid the rent and had the money to do so the entire time prior to getting evicted, but he was determined to play idiot games and not pay the rent because of "muh rights." He has money to pay for things like his gym membership, and he has probably found some sucker to rent a shitty room to him again by now. Unless somebody does manage to film him/his car outside the courthouse on arbitration day (out in public, where there's no expectation of privacy, Dipshitforlips!) and sees his car filled up with all his gear showing he's sleeping in it, I doubt that he is still homeless.

Greer has this ratcheting ability to never go back in time and fix things (amusing for a time travel afficionado) - if he got out of a month's rent, that's on the landlord - he might be willing to pay next month's rent, but he'll never pay the back rent.

if it wasn't for his mormon avoidance of alcohol I'd say George Thorogood was his advisor:

She a-howlin' about the front rent
She'll be lucky to get any back rent
She ain't gonna get none of it

Obama stripped all that away and made it impossible to turn down any student loans. It was just an embezzlement scheme underwritten by the taxpayers.
Was this around the same time interest in student loans jumped significantly as well? I seem to recall interest rates were relatively low and then abruptly increased. Not only are today's students racking up big loans for tuition and fees as part of the spiraling costs of college, they're paying more in student loan interest which leaves less to pay down the principal. "Loans For All" really caused more problems than it solved.

I'd forgotten about how rental companies went all in on EVs a few years back and ended up holding the bag with thousands of cars that nobody wanted to rent.
I seem to recall stories where unsuspecting customers had no idea their only options were EVs when they didn't want them. Worse, I believe many were never told the essential differences between EVs and regular vehicles nor were they told when, where or how to recharge them. Word spread fast and people made their displeasure known by refusing to preselect EVs and trying to avoid the rental companies that offered nothing but them. Unfortunately, the powers that be still think people want EVs despite evidence to the contrary and the lack of sufficient infrastructure.

They are basically garbage in a couple years. So it is not that difficult to pick one up used. Just enjoy trying to replace the electric shit when it burns out: fun fact, you won't.
The current versions of EVs are money pits. They cost so much more unless one buys a cheap, crappy, used model. Repairs and maintenance, even if less frequent, cost more because the specialized parts are so expensive (I believe I've heard new battery packs are 10k to 20k each!). This is all before hearing about the software-related issues that require more over the air updates than someone running Windows 11.

A hybrid is far superior,
Proprietary charging equipment and systems has been a huge issue with charging on the road. For all the talk about having universal standards, I'm not sure how much progress has been made in the US where proprietary standards rule.

A lot of people I know would prefer hybrids over EVs if forced to choose one over the other because of the perception hybrids are a decent balance between regular vehicles and EVs. My guess is people like the idea of being able to still fuel up when (re)charging isn't the best option for a long time and know they can get much better gas mileage in the process. Unfortunately, this makes sense and bureaucracy won't consider anything with an ounce of practicality.

Because RG acts on his impulses, he will never consider any of the above when it comes to EVs and select one if it's the best or only choice in the here and now without regard to the headaches associated with EVs that will pop up in both the short and long-term future.

A new battery for a Tesla is $40k. It's literally 2/3's the cost of the car. This is why EV's have no resale value. They are pure e-waste. You can keep the world's worst internal combustion engine car going for a century with care, maintenance and relatively inexpensive replacement parts. EV's are complete trash after 5 years.

He probably saw EV == not paying for gas == more money for whores, before he even looked up to see if he could get his EV changed out there.
I think it's something like,

"Earth girls are easy" -> "EVs are environmentally friendly" -> "if I drive an EV the earth girls become wet girls"

And thus Russ can hydroplane his way across Nevada without need of charging stations.

I would say this was true until the 1980's. Cars started to include CPUs and integrated circuits that are likely no longer made, so once they are gone, you are screwed.

Meanwhile a good reconditioned battery pack for a Toyota hybrid is just a tiny fraction of the cost, and it's even cheaper if you replace any dead cells yourself. All backed up by a gas engine that can easily see 500,000 miles with basic maintenance.

I know it's been suggested that Greee bought an EV as part of a cunning business plan where he can run a vehicle and not pay a single cent for gas, but I'm sure it's just as much about trying to impress the ladies.

We all know he's at least 10 years behind the zeitgeist, and in 2015 EVs were seen as exotic and fancy. In Greee's eyes, a ragged-out 2016 Leaf that can almost manage a round trip from Vegas to Henderson on a single charge is a pussy magnet.
And thus Russ can hydroplane his way across Nevada without need of charging stations.
This made me laugh way harder than I'd like to admit.

Some of the very early cars with electronics in them may have been like this, but in general stuff like ECUs tend to be very robust. If anything, an ECU is the component least likely to fail on a 1990s car. Granted, sensors connected to the ECU such as O2 sensors may die, but they're usually inexpensive generic parts auto makers buy in from companies like Bosch that haven't changed much (if at all) over the last 30 years.

Anyway, the discussion going this far off-topic means that fresh Greee milk can't be too far away. Carsperging makes a nice change from the usual speculation, such as what type of sex crimes Greee would likely commit and how many.

If he bought an EV it's almost certainly because it was the cheapest thing he could get used that was still newer and low mileage. I bought a new (used) car not long ago and there are a zillion cheap Leafs and Bolts out there. Like they can't even give these things away. Some sales guy probably talked him up on not having to pay for gas anymore, and Russ being Russ did no research whatsoever into the longevity of the battery life or other downsides.

In the short term, EV= no gas sounds like a good proposal until you realize how much it limits you.

Hybrid is better, still shitty but maximum range and efficiently. Greer just heard "no gas expenses" and jumped on it. Idk if there was a tax credit involved, I don't buy new or EVs.

I have a '23 Elantra hybrid, bought new, which I *love*. Hybrids are the best thing ever IMHO. There's no way on the Planet Earth I'd have purchased any plug-in EV, no matter how easy they tried to make it. My battery is supposed to last for 10 years...I'll be in my mid-70s by then and the grandkids will have probably had the convo about "taking away Meemaw's keys". If by chance I'm still capable of tootlin' around, and I still have that car, replacing the battery is cheap, and apparently can be DIY'd.

Part of Greee's problem is he thinks he's a *lot* smarter than he actually is, and therefore doesn't ask people who actually *are* smarter than he is how to address a problem. AI is only gonna take him so far.

The battery and drive train is warrantied for between 120k and 150k miles (depending on model): https://www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty That's a lot longer than 5 years for most owners. Most cars I've owned, I've wanted to replace due to non-mechanical issues well before they hit 150k miles.

It probably wasn't a consideration when he bought the car, but I wonder if he has something with dog mode? It'd be a huge benefit for someone who's living in their car in the Las Vegas heat. The hair and drool might have passers-by mistake him for a doggo anyways so there's the stealth factor too.

As long as he's not camping out at charging stations and leaving his car plugged in. Some stations are cracking down on people with no manners and now charge extra idle fees for those who stay for extended periods of time. If he's hogging free chargers and staying plugged in all night to keep his AC running and battery topped up that's extra shitty.

The economics kind of make sense for someone doing Doordash/uber, but when has Greer ever demonstrated even a basic understanding of money? I think it's more likely he bought the EV to help boost his image and because he thought it'd make him look more attractive. Everything the man does revolves around getting laid. The EV is like The Suit, it's a symbol of what he thinks a successful man is. Working in "an office", wearing "a suit", driving an EV. It doesn't matter that he work(ed) a sweatshop job scanning documents or cleaning toilets, wears a cheap suit laundered in the bathtub, or (possibly) drives a low end EV, it's all the same in his mind. He's no different than the VP in their corner office wearing a bespoke suit with a Rivian or Lucid in their reserved parking spot. Also ignoring the fact that NONE of that makes a good partner, Russ could be that person and he'd still have the same success with women because he's a shitty person on the inside.

Buying that EV with student loans is turning out to be even more ill advised
Maybe, I don’t remember much about the fafsa process, but in theory it would only affect any federal aid he’s entitled to, right? Pell grants and maybe federal backed loans. Unsubsdised loans are based on credit scores, which obviously suck in his case.

What private lender would give Greer a loan? His credit score must be in the toilet after multiple evictions and having his car repossessed a few years ago. He's definitely got a maxed out card or two that he's only making minimum payments on. Sure student loans can't be discharged through bankruptcy under most circumstances, but Greer will never be able to repay the principle, much less the interest. Even for a predatory lender it's not worth the risk.
