Old matches on YouTube
It's a good time to bring up WWE vault on YouTube, they are really great at preserving old wrestling for free.

I also encourage people to try Lucha Libre, especially if you like high flyer wrestling. WWEs main YT channel uploads LL every week with some English voice over so you can understand it.

r/squaredcircle/ is hilarious in small doses. Top posts, btw

As was stated earlier, these are the fans that have taken over The Business.

They also have the WCW channel running a 24/7 stream. It's always fun to hop into the middle of a random Clash or Thunder (for better or worse).

Most of my wrestling viewing nowadays comes from vault content since I wrote off watching modern WWE until I hear there's a consistent improvement in creative.

It's amazing how much wrestling used to be in the programs back in the day, even in the Monday Night Wars era when they upped the number of promos and backstage segments. Particularly in WCW.

Not at all surprising that you'd be that ignorant, given the rest of the post, but you DO know who the first IWGP champion was, don't you?
Yes, I know Hulk was the first IWGP champion. Do you think I'd be on an internet message board discussing wrestling in my adult years if I didn't?

So Hogan wrestled in Japan - what point are you making? Are you saying Hogan should be compared to the likes of Misawa? That Meltzer actually likes Hogan despite almost three decades of attacking him? I'm sorry you have to justify paying a manlet 15 bucks a month to read his headcannon but you're not doing a good job of defending him.

I'll only counter with this as a pro Meltzer argument. If he didn't have a virtual stranglehold on wrestling "media", being it's biggest name and having outsized influence, that same "media" would have been hijacked by troons years ago.

As utterly vapid and often downright stupid as his takes are, he's a good gatekeeper, insofar as keeping the real loonies, at bay. I also realize he's not trying to be, afaik, but somehow, that's how it's worked out

EDIT: clarification

Absolutely fair point. Even if I don't like the guy, I can agree with this. I despise Meltzer but I'd take him over Bixenspan any day of the week.

You are retarded.

You are so fed to the brim of you pointy head that you insult anything that isn't WWE garbage, and apparently don't know what Hogan's Japanese matches were like. I won't waste time telling you to check them out, you clearly are too fucking dumb to bother with any further,

Go lick CLownette's taint, I ma sure he needs a good cleaning.

I find it hilarious when people are shocked to find out wrestling shows used to actually be primarily about the wrestling.

The Assitude Era ruined wrestling.

...what are you talking about?

Just because Hogan chain wrestled in a handful of matches doesn't change that Meltzer wasn't a fan of him and was super critical of him over the years. The whole point is that if Hogan did wrestle like those matches in Japan for his entire career Meltzer probably would have been jacking off in glee over Hogan the same he does for Flair.

Or is the issue that you disagree that either Meltzer dislikes Hogan or that Hogan didn't have massive contributions to the industry?

Meltzer may be a biased autist, but he sticks to wrestling and when he stops being at the top of wrestling media there's going to be a big void that every grifter, podcaster, weirdo, tranny, etc. is going to try to fill. It's going to be a complete mess.

I do wish Meltzer would stop the star ratings, though, it's mindraped a lot of wrestlers into doing retarded shit chasing meaningless stars. Review the match, leave it at that.

Honestly, anyone would have been what Hogan was, given the push Vince gave him coinciding with the national expansion. Hogan wasn't even Vince's first choice, he had considered Kerry Von Erich and a few others, but Hogan was already there and Verne Gagne had come up with the perfect formula for Hulkamania but was too much of a curmudgeon to actually do it.

Hogan did far more to harm the business with his politicking and bullshit backstage than he did to advance it. He just happened to be the chosen guy for the lead role when expansion, marketing and merchandising came together.

Are you meaning 'anyone' in the sense of 'anyone who would be a viable candidate' rather than any stiff? Cause I doubt Greg Valentine would have hit the same heights as Hulk Hogan.

I'm not really a huge fan of Hogan, never really was, but he had the mix of size/charisma/gimmick that was the perfect fit. It was absolutely right place/right time, but I think the number of folks who could have pulled it off were relatively few.

Yeah that's the flipside to it, but the 'that doesn't work for me, brother' and Dungeon of Doom and whatever other stuff you wanna put at his feet (along with the millions that guys were being paid) also wouldn't have happened and guys like Eddie, Jericho, Benoit wouldn't be plucked from Mexico and Japan and given the chances they did.

Hogan was responsible for 2 major shifts in wrestling with Hulkamania and the nWo. He was a carney through and through, but outside of retards like us, no one gives a shit about the backstage nonsense.

Greg Valentine
You dont know that! Thats a spurious lie and is not backed with hard facts. The truth is, the Hammer could have made it to Steve Austin levels of fame if was given the push. And the talent. And not being a really ugly man with no promo skills other than saying how much he hated black people. But other than those very minor issues, he is on par with the Hulkster if you ask me.

Seethe, lmao. I would be willing to listen to your point if you actually made one, but instead of trying to make one you resort to insults. Take a break, it's not that serious. As far as being a WWE cultist, Go back through my post history and judge for yourself.

I'm sure Meltzer thanks you for your service. 15.99, plus tax please.
