Star Trek - Space: The Final Frontier

Just finished watching Menage a Troi and I both love and hate this episode.
It's great because it's the first time that Lwaxana really gets an episode to herself and I just adore her character. She's fantastic in TNG and it was so lovely to see her show up in DS9 where I feel they really expanded on her character.
Just a really fun episode with Lwaxana and Deanna bouncing off the Ferengi, it's great.
Then it all ends with this hideous Wesley subplot where the ghost of Roddenberry was clearly blowing himself. Wesley is so much better in season 3 than he was in 1 and 2 but I still absolutely hate him.
Ferengi is like “women shouldn’t wear clothes!!" and then immediately pivots to trying to sell Troi and her mom to Ethan Phillips.

It’s insane that’s a real plot.

Yep, there’s a Wesley B-story which my brain has memory-holed. My brain did me a favor. He was on the show for seven years and I remember like three things, the cave one with Picard where he hits his head. Then there’s the Red Squad one which I only remember because of the other actors (Wesley’s own episode and he’s the least interesting thing in it). And of course the Traveler episode where that nonce shows up and is like “this boy is the Mozart of Starfleet! He’s too powerful, he thinks in math!"

Psych, Wesley turns into a space wizard and leaves, which makes everything before it feel pointless.

Marina Sirtis is more useful in The Orville than the entirety of Star Trek. I still can't believe she got raped in Star Trek twice. Sirtis is such a good actress and she was wasted on TNG.
One thing I really, really like about The Orville is how they do the old memba' berries.
Sirtis was great in it, just close enough to her TNG character that it was very 'wink-wink, nudge-nudge'. Then Dr. Phlox shows up and he's a crazy murderer and it's even better, let Billingsley show a bit more range.
The Orville was far better than it had a right to be.

Who the fuck approved this poster for Voyager?

I was looking up an actor that looked familiar in an episode of SG1 and of course he was in Voyager. But look at this poster! Everyone is serious except for fucking Neelix doing a fucking soyjack next to Kes's tits.

as the Baron is like casting John Goodman.
ngl I'm pretty sure my wife and I thought it was him at first when we saw it
I don’t think Lynch fully read the book either, so he turns everything into caricatures.
Smithee Lynch Dune is people quoting Dune at each other, SciFi Euro Dune makes it work as dialog
but yeah the core issue is still there that the further you get from Frank's prose it falls apart

I dunno, it's weird in general. Paris is shooting me. The doc has a butt plug.

>when Neelix sees a minor
Russian scientist Troy on SG1 is better than TNG Troy. She does things and is competent at repairing a submarine.

Don't get me started on why a Russian scientist would be wearing an East German field coat.
I watched that episode the other day, lol

I feel like some things are simply unadaptable due to sheer depth and scope.
Sci-fi makes a good case for it being able to mostly work until God Emperor, but yeah it's downright funny how they could completely miss the point of GEOD while perfectly getting the action parts of the book right

What do you mean? God Emperor had a perfectly good adaption.
