Hey guys, this is a video posted by @Trasha Pay That A$$ from the Amberlynn thread that I'd like to reply to, but would probably do better going here.
I like a good "look at fatty" video as much as the rest of you guys, but I've never heard of this weight loss philosophy before. Basically, this guy is arguing that the way to lose weight is by cutting out meat and dairy, and eating only fruits, vegetables, and high carb foods. So, basically, a low fat diet à la the 90's.
Is this viable? I remember hearing several times over that low fat diets have been debunked. Also, vegetarian diets can still lead to people gaining a lot of weight. Amberlynn had a vegetarian phase and put on something like 20 lbs from it because she couldn't figure out how to efficiently fill up (not really surprising).
So, in short: Snarky video, but do this guy's views on weight loss hold up? It must be working on a personal level for him, but I just haven't heard of it being done this way.

This right here. I hate how people have twisted weight loss into some complicated mystery with conflicting this, conflicting that between methods. It's calories in, calories out. Personally I think they've turned it into a contradictory mess because they want to blame it on anything but plain old overeating. Anything.You could go on a diet of nothing but candy and as long as you eat less calories in candy than your body burns to stay alive, you'll lose weight. You'll probably be a gross, unhealthy wreck of a person, but you will still lose weight. If Amber gained weight eating fruits and vegetables, she did it by eating way more of them than her body needed to burn for energy.

I agree with @thejackal in that anxious and bored eating is a big driver of obesity, but so is easy access to sugar. A lot of fat people's blood glucose is way out of control with crazy spikes and dips, even before the diabetes kicks in. While "calories in, calories out" is factually correct, it's also like telling an alcoholic to "just stop drinking". Not exactly practical advice.
A good friend of mine is a social worked who specializes in eating disorders. He told me that people who go on diets tend to restrict in the morning and then binge in the evening, and ultimately consumed more calories than normal that way. A better way to look at it would be to "achieve satiety while consuming less calories". Sugar gives you a very good high, but it doesn't satiate you for long and is very calorie-dense. Vegetables, on the other hand, are more filling for fewer calories, so you reach satiety with less calories consumed.
If a diet feels like a chore or a punishment, you're not going to stick with it for long. If you want to lose weight, you need to be willing to take a good, hard look at your lifestyle and see what needs to be changed. Odds are, something is driving you to overheat, and you need to be honest with yourself if you want to treat that. The most damaging and insidious lies are the ones we tell ourselves.

I think we are talking about different things, food addiction versus poor choices. Of course a different method is required when there's an addiction, I agree with you. What I mean is regular folks living their lives not understanding why they're getting fat.

It's just liquid calories, that's why people lose so much when they stop drinking soda - but the loss stops at however many calories in soda you were consuming about your normal daily calorie intake (i.e. the number you can consume without getting bigger than you are now.)Soda I'm completely serious I lost twenty pounds after quitting it entirely and my cousin lost almost sixty. I'm convinced that shit is some of the worse non drug poison you can put in your body.
As a general rule, anything that isn't water (and to some extent, tea, assuming you haven't added anything like sugar to it) is going to have calories, just like food. Coffee is a surprisingly big killer in this department, even if they manage to kick soda and beer, both of which have huge amounts of calories-and it's easy to consume a crazy amount of them in a given day. This is true, but this can also be misleading: you still should eat foods that are vaguely nutritious. Women also benefit from eating red meat more than men do.You can literally eat any combination of foods and lose weight, so long as you stay under a certain amount of calories. You can lose weight on fruits, veggies, and carbs.
Fat makes you feel more full as well. Most fat-free and low fat products make you feel hungry again soon after (plus they add sugar to make up the difference.)Someone earlier wondered about cutting out the fat in your diet, but honestly, unless you have a heart condition, the fat content doesn't matter as much as the calories (though this sort of goes hand in hand).

Actually it isn't an uncommon side effect. A lot of sugar replacements can cause diarrhea. Obviously this doesn't happen to every single person, but you can find similar reports of when people consume sugar free popsicles for example.No it doesn't? You should get that checked.
