VHSfags on youtube

I almost though it was going to be like when Redlettermedia does there best of the worst

instead its just faggots watching cartoons with shaky cam
Were you really expecting anything else?

As for the format, it's a mixed feeling for me. It's something I grew up with, and my cousin's family still has a shitload of them in their possession. There's people out there who want to preserve the crazier side of VHS releases (like EiT's clips or RLM's Best/Wheel of the Worst series) or movies never given a DVD release. And the advent of digital mediums have made it much easier to do it. But the fact that they have to share the space with these spergs is painful.

Well this guy would like to think otherwise:
Watching him smash a Barney VHS (and using a SpongeBob figure, no less) to show his maturity is like someone burning a dildo to prove he's not gay.

Its comforting to know that Barney doesn't get singled out :/

A couple years ago there was a guy who would smash electronic stuff with the same mocking tone, but he was actually funny unlike this idiot. Probably has to wait until his parents leave to film these.

most of these kids weren't even born yet when VHS was abandoned. Unlike audio tape which can be superior to digital downloads on the right equipment, VHS was shit at best. It wasn't even the best format available in its heyday, and VHS is completely unwatchable on modern TVs.

at least they're not spending a lot of money though. You can get a VCR and a crate of tapes for a dollar.

Almost 3,000 views for that shit, maybe if I firebomb the teletubbies tapes I have in my basement that haven't opened since 1999 maybe I can monetize them.

I remember the big advantage of VHS was that it was hilariously easy to clone tapes. I used to rent movies when I was younger, and then, using a series of VCRs, clone video cassettes so I could watch my favorite ones whenever I wanted. Up until I moved, I had several of my old favorite movies on VHS because they never were big enough to get DVDs made.

I threw most of them out afterwards. The rest were donated to charity.

One of my first acts of video piracy was realizing since we had two VCRs, I could actually record from one to the other. I copied Raiders of the Lost Ark so I could watch it any time I wanted. That was pretty cool for the early '80s.

I've heard that there is some sort of trade going with vhs tapes of cartoons from the late 90s, most of which are only different because of some slight distortion.
It's not limited to that, if you have Disney VHS tapes they sell for a lot on Ebay cause Disney has screwed their remasters over so much that fucking VHS has made a comeback as an animation collector's format. Also some VHS tapes have stuff that people will want, for example the Matrix VHS had the original theatrical grading while each other format changed it. The 1997 special edition VHS for the Star Wars trilogy has special interviews with Lucas (With Lucas saying VHS is the ultimate format).

My favorite part about these people is when their tapes break from their shitty thrift store tape eating VCRs:

Not as much as Laserdiscs however, using that example you can find the THX Star Wars tapes (the last pre special edition ones AFAIK) easily but the laserdiscs still hold their value a lot more and are harder to find.

From what I've seen the VHS tapes that hold the most value are of things that never got released on any other format, or on modern formats (which in that case see what I just wrote about Laserdiscs, chances are it will cost a lot more there but provide better quality).
