The autist filmed himself throwing dora dvds down a storm drain

I love how it took this tard several attempts of hitting the tapes before they started showing any signs of damage (with a hammer thats hes using with both hands BTW). Here's another one of his videos - he is a definitely an r/incels poster:

I think I found a pic of this kid.

I recommend checking out Everything Is Terrible (EVERYTHINGISTERRIBLE) and laughing at this autismn(or better yet, stupidity) like the rest of us, honestly.
That Jerry Maguire obsession is pure :autism:!

I though this was to be about greasy guys collecting old horror and porn ex-rentals from back when VHS tapes were unavailable to the general public.
I was hoping that too, or something along the lines of the people I wanted to hang with...

Obviously those people have moved on and were replaced by these goofs!

Were you really expecting anything else?

As for the format, it's a mixed feeling for me. It's something I grew up with, and my cousin's family still has a shitload of them in their possession. There's people out there who want to preserve the crazier side of VHS releases (like EiT's clips or RLM's Best/Wheel of the Worst series) or movies never given a DVD release. And the advent of digital mediums have made it much easier to do it. But the fact that they have to share the space with these spergs is painful.
If anything VHS, and home video in general gave those of my generation that choice our parents never had before, watching something right then and there, over and over. This was an extremely new choice afforded to those who either missed programs on TV or had to plan ahead in case they could catch their favorite shows when they were broadcast. VCR's were the first step in giving viewers personal control of what they watched.

True video format geeks will froth over this.

Let alone being sold at a store that's currently on it's last legs as we speak!

I only still have a few Animation Festivals and oddball VHS tapes because they're rare and they were never re-released anywhere.
Finding tapes like these in public libraries was my thing! That is one good purpose for saving these recordings of films either not currently online or on disc (some filmmakers have uploaded their shorts to YT or Vimeo I noticed).

I remember the big advantage of VHS was that it was hilariously easy to clone tapes. I used to rent movies when I was younger, and then, using a series of VCRs, clone video cassettes so I could watch my favorite ones whenever I wanted. Up until I moved, I had several of my old favorite movies on VHS because they never were big enough to get DVDs made.

I threw most of them out afterwards. The rest were donated to charity.
My mom did that a lot since she got her first VCR in '82, but of course the industry tried to fight back with Macrovision and other means to prevent tapes being copied. She found a way.

I know at least one of my public libraries still have VHS tapes in it last time I went there. But it's been over two years, so I don't know if they still have them.

My library once had 16mm prints up to the late 90's, but often sold those prints through annual book sales they held, I haven't noticed if they still have any VHS tapes right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're all gone.

It's not limited to that, if you have Disney VHS tapes they sell for a lot on Ebay cause Disney has screwed their remasters over so much that fucking VHS has made a comeback as an animation collector's format. Also some VHS tapes have stuff that people will want, for example the Matrix VHS had the original theatrical grading while each other format changed it. The 1997 special edition VHS for the Star Wars trilogy has special interviews with Lucas (With Lucas saying VHS is the ultimate format).

Are you kidding me? Disney clamshells are all worthless.

Since we're telling stories about VHS tapes, before Let's Plays were a thing on Youtube, before Youtube itself was a thing in fact, we used to plug in our vidya consoles into the VCR since they had AV jacks and record ourselves playing games to show to each other. I never recorded anything on TV to VHS since the reception was always really shitty and had no point. I once tried my hand at recording one tape to a new one because the old one was on its way out, and to my surprise, copy protection was a thing that VHS tapes had and the old tape completely destroyed itself. That sucked.

VHS collecting to me is like bottle cap collecting, mostly pointless but harmless and inoffensive.
That doesn't excuse it from being a a big ball of autism burning like a star. If harmless and inoffensive stuff were ineligible as a topic, 90% of this website would be gone.

I have an (unironically) autistic relative who's fixated on VHS tapes even though they're mostly before his time. I remember once he spent a good 20 minutes talking about a time where he wanted to buy a VHS of a TMNT ripoff that he saw in a thrift store but didn't because he doesn't even own a VCR.

Funny he didn't think to get a VCR first.

that's fools gold compared to my Atlantis the Lost Empire VHS tape, it has the case and everything

I have the original Star Wars trilogy on VHS. Picked it up from my grandfather's trailer after he died. They're the originals, not the shitty remastered versions from the early 2000s. I don't have a VCR but I felt like I had to save them.

I really don't understand why you would collect DVDs of Barney and Friends. It's a well known property so there's probably a DVD collection out there somewhere.

I mean we are pretty fixated

This thread is getting ironic.

eBay VHS sellers are trying to become the American gaming community with the unnecessary price inflation for well known games. I honestly believe if you go to one of your neighbors houses and ask for a certain Disney VHS, it's probably stored in a dusty box and they'll give it to you for free.

Guys like this are autistic, though. A lot of people in the VHS community are collectors by nature, which doesn't lend itself to necessary social interaction, but neither does it lend itself to autism.

People believed in that Black Diamond shit, didn't they?
