Has anyone ever tried to figure out how much Phil makes a year? Is it middle class money for an American?

I work with many Americans and they seem to have at least one home, many have multiple properties like for investment capital, but they are also engineers which I assume make more money than the average American (they also travel internationally for work assignment so they must make more money than typical American engineers).

I don't want to assume he is rich by having two properties because I know in the US, its very easy to get loans and the cost of housing in the US is very cheap compared to most countries.

When I think about it, the cost of living in the US is generally really good outside of the very expensive cities like San Francisco and New York yes? Every time I must come to the US for work, I am amazed how cheap gasoline and food is compared to what I am used to.

Most people who can afford it have their main home and a cheaper second home. i wouldn't say most people have 2 homes like dsp that is a luxury. In America millenials or people dsp's age tend to be much poorer than tbeir parents so it is very uncommon to have 2 homes. Dsp must be making 5-10k month he just manages it like shit so he is in a bad financial place. If he sold the other house or foreclosed it and started saving money he would be better off in a couple years.

Which is a shame, Phil butchering sports games is my favorite. Especially when he couldn't figure out how to start a quick match.

When is he gonna play a racing game again.

Can anyone show evidence of ONE person asking Dsp to play fucking Madden? This seems like Phil wants to see if sports games bring in views/money but he does not want to fund his own experiment.

His sports game adventures are infamous, but it's been so long I'm sure he's forgotten why those old clips have so many views.

If it's true that he has a degree in Finance, I have a theory: I think his college education in business and finance gave Phil the reckless confidence to play a game of long-term debt. He thinks he's an expert. He thinks he can handle the terrifying level of debt he's in. He plays the Game of Debt the way he plays Super Turbo: like someone who thinks he's the world's best expert (15 years ago).

I think he knows finance pretty well, in the sense that he knows enough to understand how to build credit and quickly rebuild credit after trashing it. I don't think his spending habits are a reflection of his knowledge; I think his spending is a reflection of his self control.

I do not think he knows business well. This is a man who went out and trademarked his online username, then filed no lawsuits when people all over the place online started using it to mock him and pass themselves off as him (this ultimately has resulted in him losing the ability to ever defend it if someone wants to come alone and start using it; trademarks are a defend-it-or-lose-it situation.) Bye-bye registration fees. In addition this is a man with a shit ton of stuff- regardless of how much equity he has in it- and no organization to keep some plaintiff from taking his home(s) in a lawsuit. It would cost him less than $100 a year to establish an LLC and have it only own the bare minimum (computers and games, etc.) and that problem would disappear. Business ownership is just an ego stroke for DSP, not a reality.

EDIT: I was curious so I went and looked at WA, FL, CT, and PA personal and LLC income taxes as well as costs to establish and maintain an LLC. Shit you not, PA is almost the same costs as WA based on those three. Literally could have not uprooted her- but since he doesn't have an LLC he pays no personal/LLC income tax and doesn't have to pay for the LLC.

The issue is it would require more accurate accounting. And Phil is most definitely misrepresenting his taxes because he doesn't make enough as a self employed youtuber to be likely to get audited.

Plus an llc is more work tax wise. Not by a ton, but enough he won't do it himself or pay an accountant extra to do it for him.

I was going to say it's not that much work honestly- but you're spot on in mentioning the accountant. We're talking about a man who won't file personal income taxes to save some money because it's too much work for him. So never mind.

EDIT: By the way I see people mentioning tax fraud a lot. Most of the ways he makes money report to the IRS so even if he's committing fraud it's going to be barely anything other than over-reporting expenses. Since he's got an accountant that accountant probably isn't going to claim expenses he can't prove.

Taken from the NASA eclipse-dedicated site, all of the United States not including Maine and the extreme Southwest will at least be able to see 75% of the eclipse.

Just watched his Week in Preview and holy shit. Broken record as fuck. How? How can this scamming, begging, and sinking ship mentality keep working for him? His Patreon has been slowly declining overtime regardless of this month, and, going by online statistics, BOTH Twitch and Youtube retention for him is down. I'm willing to say that a portion of his beggar income is coming from people who rely on him for their own content like Snort Burnell or DickStrokingPhil, and that a large portion of his Twitch viewer base are people who see troll content on his and have morbid curiosity.

If you were to ask this from something like, oh I don't know, /v/ or /cow/ you'd hear about how his detractors are sole funders of his content and there's no other people giving him money. But meanwhile you'd also hear about how le SoK is literally Hitler and Phil is totally entirely blameless and how people are just focusing on the fact he's bad player.

The guy has had a job for 10(?) years where talking every single day is the main aspect of what he does. On a professional level he should be thinking about his throat in the same way a singer does: Warm-ups, constructive resting and time away from using it at all, being careful about what he eats and drinks so as to not harshen up his larynx, being careful about how he raises his voice - all of these things take a toll gradually and are worsened when not considered at all. It's no surprise how much hoarse he sounds compared to 5 years ago as well as throwing everything about his life in there.

People asking him to get outside and make a video about the sun eclipse? For DSP that means he has to leave his "adult house" at a rather exact time so detractors could snipe him. Of course he refuses because he values his life.

Oh and a person like him who has no sense for the beauty of nature can't get a personal experience out of a sun eclipse. When your World ends at the doorstep and you only consume things rather than enjoying or experiencing you have no time for a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Maybe he would turn mad for a couple of minutes like some animals do during a sun eclipse.
