Mass Effect Andromeda: Shitstorm Edition - RIP Biowear

https://www.masseffect.com/news/mass-effect-andromeda-update-from-the-studio

Looks like the devs are leaving the trashfire that is the single player content behind in exchange for the multiplayer content.

I was just about to post this. Too bad for people hoping for DLC.

Mass Effect: Andromeda developer BioWare has issued an update on the game, saying there are "no planned future patches for single-player or in-game story content." The statement effectively confirms the studio will not make any more technical changes to the way the campaign runs. Additionally, it will not release any DLC to address some of the loose narrative threads that fans were hoping to see resolved.

Most notable among these unresolved plot points is the fate of the Quarian Ark, which BioWare has said will be explored in comics and novels, along with other stories set in the Andromeda galaxy.

"Early in development, we decided to focus Mass Effect: Andromeda’s story on the Pathfinder, the exploration of the Andromeda galaxy, and the conflict with the Archon," reads a statement on the game's official website.

"The game was designed to further expand on the Pathfinder’s journey through this new galaxy with story-based APEX multiplayer missions and we will continue to tell stories in the Andromeda Galaxy through our upcoming comics and novels, including the fate of the Quarian Ark."

So it looks like if you want to find out what happens to the Quarians don't wait around for a sequel. You'll have to buy comics and novels in the future. So I guess this means Andromeda truly is done now other than multiplayer. If you aren't interested in that no new content for you.

I wonder if the series itself is 100% dead. Probably for the foreseeable future at least.

I can see them putting ME on the backburner for about five years in favor of Anthem, Dragon Age, and Star Wars.

Sad about the news, I was hoping for a DLC that addresses some of the flaws, especially since even DA2 had some.

I wasn't expecting much but that's still a damn shame. Guess we'll never get resolution with the quarians, Ryder's mom or the benefactor unless it's in comic form.
Maybe not with the Quarians, but the other two can get tied up in a sequel if they decide to give the Andromeda subseries another chance instead of going back to the Milky Way. Given the divisive reception to the game, however, that's likely to be a long shot, so...

"Mass Effect is dead, and it's YOUR fault!" -EA apparently.

Yeah. I don't give a damn about EA's hurt feefees. Don't blame consumers for your own shortcomings. The game should have had that delay so they could tweak things. Those facial animations were an inexcusable mess. The tranny that outs herself the first time you meet her was one of the most retarded dialog decisions I've ever seen. And that racist dev was a disgrace. Glad he's gone.

I don't give a fuck about EA's feels. Let them blame the People who bought this piece of crap. You basically had one of the greatest franchises and ruined it because of your own shortcomings. Those facial animations were hilarious and should have been a red alert Signal the first time People saw them in trailers. But no, let's slap some Mass Effect shit together, with characters you don't care about and face expressions like some exceptionable being. Great job out there, great job.

got it while it was on sale a while back. i thought it was okay for the 60% price.

facial animations are passable. voices are mostly okay. jarun tann sounds awful. his voice and accent are the audio equivalent of both slaton sisters trying to squeeze into the same size 0 bikini. i didn't expect to like ms kesh at first but she grew on me. her grandpa's voice is a bit awkward. foster addison (the lesbian haircut woman whose face is tired) isnt awful now that the facial animations have been mostly patched. actually managed to make me feel sorry for her. i like the turian dude who runs the army. i want to fuck his face. and then his cloaca. and then his face again.

the power wheel is gone and that threw me for a loop at first. normal mode difficulty is harder than i remember from ME3 and i had to turn it down to casual. level 1 player with level 1 charge kind of sucks too. the tutorial level is a rough start which i guess is appropriate, you're small and weak in a big new world that wants to eat you and you have no idea whats going on. but i had a less stressful time of it when i played dragon age inquisition. so level 1 vanguard playstyle was out, but i got by with better luck when i came in as the 'sniper' class. i like getting to equip multiple weapons of the same type (eg 2 pistols). not sure how i feel about smgs being folded into the pistol classification but i don't outright hate it so i guess itll do.

i'm enjoying the story. i dont like how the murder investigation was handled. some other quests are still bugged and impossible to complete. peebee isnt anything like sera but i think i'll get the mod that erases her unnecessary raccoon mask. liam's personal mission was funny. not-garrus is growing on me. he's not garrus but i guess he's okay.

the kett are too much like the reapers for me to approve but i'll let that slide in favor of getting to kill them in all kinds of fun and creative ways. i really love the 'profiles' mechanic and getting to trait my character to do anything and everything is what i've always wanted in mass effect because every class had something appealing that i wish i could add to another.

multiplayer is a mixed bag. i love the common classes. i dont like how progression is heavily tied to a gambling mechanic and i think its completely unnecesary to rotate out the mission funds store items every week. sometimes i lag quite badly, which im told is dependent on the host because multiplayer is still p2p. a dedicated server would fix that and youd think EA of all studios would have put it in but i guess they suck too much to make intelligent decisions.

concl: andromeda's okay for $20. EA killed it right out the gate with pants up ass retarded management decisions. if they could have just waited a bit and actually let devs fix things it wouldnt have flopped so hard. i want garrus.

It's funny, I was mulling over how to make a sequel to the Mass Effect series given the clusterfuck of an ending a few days ago, and I had an idea.
So, like, one of the central things in Mass Effect is that conventional FLT travel is impractical outside of close star clusters, and the mass effect relays are needed to travel relatively long distances.
So, instead of trying to make a sequel that attempts to account for all three choices, or just leaves what happens to the galaxy out, make it a "what if" type game that assumes that Shepard nuked the Reapers in 3, damaging or destroying all of the mass effect relays and plunging the galaxy into a new dark age. With the primary method of long distance FTL travel destroyed, the survivors of the reaper invasion find themselves confined to close star clusters reachable with conventional FLT, unable to communicate with or travel to other star clusters.
Hundreds of years in the future, one of these star clusters is invaded by an unknown scouting force that had somehow come through the cluster's damaged mass effect relay and partially repaired it. As the commander of a small reconnaissance ship, you must travel through the partially working relay, explore what the galaxy has evolved into, and uncover what these strange invaders are, before they begin a full assault on your home.
Hey Bioware, I just came up with a better premise than ME:A, hire me plese.
