As it's now ~10 pages back and is still a current event I'm reposting the most up to date version of presented theories behind DSP's emergency. Feel free to like/share/edit/support my patreon/sell on the darknet:
What happened:
Phil made an emergency vlahg in which he appeared to be genuinely distressed (people's opinion of whether this is genuine or not vary):
Things we know:
- Phil's language in his emergency video indicated that he received "notice of" something
- Phil has denied it is an audit
- Phil has denied DSP Enterprises
- Phil's language in this emergency video has been to call what he does "not a business" after years of confidently claiming that what he does is a business.
- Phil has said that all theories (which excluded PandaLee at the time) were not remotely close
- Phil claims that he has done nothing wrong and that the issue is pretty much "bullshit"
- Phil has claimed to be experiencing a large amount of stress due to this issue and specifically mentioned the possibility of losing his house
- Phil has claimed to experience a large volume of unexpected phone calls/meetings due to this issue and has had to postpone and cancel some streams
- Phil has made a unique distinction with this 'emergency vlahg' stating that this problem is unable to be fixed by his supporters. On top of claiming to potentially lose his house, this indicates the problem is likely to be a major financial issue.
- Phil has asked for moral/positive support and although he appreciates tips/cheers/subs/patreon support he is mainly asking for moral support.
Current theories (sponsored by :autism

:
- Phil issues
- IRS Audit
- Unlikely given he has denied it as well as having his taxes signed off by a proper accountant
- Extremely unlikely that Phil has made repeated statements in the past about avoiding things such as PayPal donation links due to his tax accountant's advice. The least credit I can award to Phil in this scenario is that he seems to be keenly aware of what he can and cannot write off with his taxes.
- The reddit post that was flying around about a Washington-based YouTuber getting audited is 99.999% not Phil due to the amounts involved. This was most likely Onision's post (who is another internet panhandler who happens to be facing a major IRS audit)
- DSP Enterprises shenanigans
- Phil has explicitly denied the existence of DSP Enterprises
- During the recent hack it was revealed his Comcast account was signed up under the business name "DSP Enterprises"
- Phil initially denied anything to do with DSP Enterprises, then later claimed that Comcast forced him to come up with a business name on the spot (he says he couldn't leave it empty).
- There is speculation that Phil fraudulently created DSP Enterprises to get business class internet. In a previous post on this thread, I pointed out the numerous results from Google showing several Comcast Business customers in residential areas.
- Phil claims to operate as a sole proprietor and pays his taxes quarterly which adds up based upon research.
- So far, based upon what is known, this seems like a non-issue.
- Bank recalling loan due to risk factors or some sort of event happening with his debt
- Certainly possible. Especially since Phil has 2 outstanding house loans and a loan for his car as well as other outstanding credit.
- It is possible Phil's loan(s) were put through fraudulently by his bank, then another bank purchased them and has asked for documentation to prove his ability to pay his loan. If he cannot provide this, based upon what I've read, the bank can require he repay the loan immediately.
- He could also be facing this due to nonpayment of homeowner's insurance, nonpayment of HOA dues or because he has failed to maintain the property or somehow reneged on terms he agreed with the bank.
- Phil getting evicted due to HOA issues of some form
- Unknown. Phil lives in a gated community and is pretty much required to keep the HOA happy. The only thing we know is he recently had to powerwash his driveway because the HOA requires it.
- One presented theory is that Phil has violated rules within his community by running a business within his house. It could be that due to noise complaints or similar the HOA decided to actively investigate the issue.
- It's important to note that Pandalee's soap business was a legally registered business that used Phil's current address on its documentation.
- Due to a recent increase in his property value it was theorized that perhaps his fees have increased dramatically making it untenable for him to continue living there.
- It is unlikely that Phil is having issues paying the current HOA fees given he has lived in the house for 3 years.
- Phil having issues because of recent Equifax data leaks
- YouTube/Twitch/Patreon/PayPal issues
- Unlikely. Despite the downturn in YouTube revenue, Phil has a preferential relationship with Twitch and they don't really care to go after him.
- It is possible that the large sum of money Phil was heavily dependent upon receiving in October has somehow been delayed or withheld due to unknown reasons.
- (Note: so far Phil has not engaged with any of the Pandalee issues at all. These have also been put forward on his own official forum by users. He has not responded in any way.)
- Pandalee claiming palimony
- This is possible in Washington.
- Pandalee trying to claim her share of the house/exit the house mortgage
- This is a real possibility, but we do not know if she was listed on the mortgage.
- UPDATE: according to some research by someone on this thread she is not listed on the deed for the house. Not sure if that means she couldn't still be a part of the mortgage though.
- Pandalee is pregnant
- Although someone claimed that Pandalee said she never wanted kids, things change when people actually get pregnant so this is not beyond the realm of possibility
- Health related issues
- Phil having some sort of health issues
- Unknown. Even though Phil isn't healthy, there is nothing to really suggest something medically related at this stage with any certainty.
- Phil's parents having some sort of health issues
- "The Perfect Storm" issues
- One theory is that due to Phil's constantly precarious financial situation a combination of factors have come together which has placed him in an unfortunate position where he is unable to make payment on his dues or is unable to make payment on a major unexpected cost due to how thin his budget is.
- Wildcard issues
- EVO has tried to revoke Phil's 2005 4th place rank in Street Fighter Turbo 2 (as documented on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_Championship_Series)
- Gout
- Sexual harassment lawsuit
- Libel/slander/defamation lawsuit launched by one of the many thousands of people Phil has attacked on his streams/videos
- Heavy metal poisoning from consumption of poorly produced batch of V8 energy drinks
- Physical injury caused by game controller
- Physical injury caused by CD-ROM being used in an old, unmaintained console causing a CD explosion and leading to major shrapnel damage.
- Physical injury caused by precarious placements of expensive and useless gaming statues.
- Physical injury caused by Keurig coffee maker malfunctioning
- Lasting physical injury caused by Salmonella infection after trying to replicate a Jack Scalfani recipe in order to try and make a prototype for his home-cooked Authentic Italian restaurant concept.
- Loan shark threatening Phil over unpaid debts accrued by overspending on mobile games
- Major/expensive structural issues to Phil's house caused by his weight
- Major/expensive mold issues caused by Phil keeping his house messy
- Extended/immediate family being affected by natural disaster (such as a hurricane) and having to put Phil in a situation where he has to downscale his life in order to help them
- Nothing
- Ruse Cruise
- Phil has done this as an elaborate ruse cruise and then will sit around at a later date to point out how mentally deranged his 'detractors' are for speculating
