It gets even worse when you realize that Sai is made by and maintained by one person, yet spoiled Tumblrinas don't think twice about pirating it as if it's supposed to be free. I wouldn't be surprised if half of them actually think it's freeware.

Ironically when it comes to Photoshop, owned by a multinational corporation, they respect it enough to actually buy it.

Because Photoshop now can be had for $9.99/mo via the Creative Cloud subscription model, and Paint Tool Sai is roughly whatever 5400JPY is in exchange for your currency of choice. The irony being that you get about $10 sucked from you every month, yet the cost for Sai is a one-time fee and you'll get a free upgrade to version 2, whenever it lands.

Also, Clip Studio Paint Master Race. Smith-Micro has it on sale every couple of months for like $25. It used to be called Manga Studio, but they changed it to universal branding. Plus, while Mac users will never get a true and honest port of Sai, they get something that's even greater. I'm surprised that's not as heavily pirated as Sai, tbh.

That character's name is Vivian, she's from Paper Mario: the thousand year door. In the japanese version of the game she's trans, but that "plot point" (there really was no point for it) got removed for the international releases.

So I’ve never really wrote fanfictions, mainly because I’m too busy to write a whole story with proper grammar. But I like thinking about them.

Zelda, teenage daughter of a very controlling family, struggles with their gender identity. Scared to talk about this issues with their boyfriend, Ganondorf, and their father, Daphnes, they turns to their overprotective best friend Midna and their aunt Impa for help and guidance. Disguised as Sheik, Zelda meet a mysterious boy Link. AAAAND This is as far as I’ve gotten.

At first I was surprised when it looked like the person respected that Zelda and Sheik are the same person... Then I read "they" and that's where they lost me. In the description, I mean. This art is still shit

But when they really try, they can make pretty good art. I especially love this pic, because of how the colors blend, and how the hair's texture is.

The art style is pretty good. The smooth colors, especially. It's just...the concept. Strange that someone with that artstyle would make social art.

Adding to this - someone earlier in the thread said that tumblrinas evolved from weeaboos, which I think is mostly true; they know that SAI is Japanese software and see all these ~kawaii~ manga artists use it, so naturally they will try to use the same tools (it is said that SAI is better for painting too but hell yes CSP master race, it can do that and more)
SAI is immensely easy to pirate, sometimes it's a matter of simply downloading and unzipping a .zip file. :powerlevel:that's how I got my copy when I first started out nearly a decade ago:powerlevel:

Sai is a good easy program. It's more for digital illustration than painting, it has an excellent stabilizer tool that doesn't eat your cpu alive and it's very light overall,opens in less than a second. If you can't make anything interesting with it it's because you suck, end of story

Ah yes, Gelasticat. Her work is pretty common in this thread. I think you're being too easy on her; not only is her art mediocre, I can assure as someone who's read the comic that her headcanons have literally zero basis in canon.

Her drawings of Karkat in particular seem to be almost intentionally the opposite of everything established about him in canon. He's physically the weakest alien, it's been implied a few times that he has a Napoleon complex, all trolls have grey irses, and there's literally nothing feminine about his appearence. Gelasticat took this to mean that he must be fat, muscular, seven feet tall, and have huge painted lips and long hair.

Her anatomy is crap, her coloring is mediocre, her compositions are bland, and she rarely draws backgrounds. Seems like a pretty run-of-the-mill Tumblrina artist to me.

Well, she draws Marge black and she's always been portrayed as believing in the faith, so...Unless she makes her an edgy atheist in her AUs.
