Jesus Christ...

1. Saying that Alex cannot "hire a developer because no one is in-between jobs looking to work full time for $500 a month" is absolutely nonsensical... so it is okay if you work alongside programmers who are willing to be paid less than minimum wage monthly, but if you hire a programmer for more it would hault the games development and thus you cannot do this...? What even...?

2. "We cannot hire professional programmers because then we would need to rewrite the code of the game and thus hault development for several months which would make people very angry" yes, actually making progress on the game instead of fake developmental YouTube videos would absolutely piss EVERYONE off

3. Saying that he "worked with a programmer in 2017 and all of his fears became a reality (boohoo you whiney overgrown manchild)" Is he possibly talking about this mysterious TinyBuild programmer here? Maybe trouble in paradise is already occurring.

4. His patrons are blindly in agreeance to all of this, but I do find it very odd how half of the comments are from non-paying patron followers.

This entire thing is so erroneously frustrating at this point that I'm actually losing all hope anyone will ever wake up to this bullshit. Yup, keep every dime of your patreon money without spending any of it on development, even though that is the entire reason for a patreon.. who really cares, right? Don't ever worry your poor hard working self about this silly game. Play with your fan base of children on twitch all day long instead and we'll pay you for it. Let's all give Alex a grade-A blowjob while we're at it, guys.

In 2017, I actually did work alongside another programmer for about 5 months. And, tragically, all of the fears described above became a reality.
Considering the way he words it and his history of being dishonest, I have a feeling that he never did actually hire this "another programmer" and is lying to prove his point. I doubt that he's talking about Tinybuild, since they're still working with him(?)

I think he is actually talking about TinyBuild. If there was more than one extra programmer, he'd mention that, especially one that worked with the game for such a long time.
I think I can guess what happened:
  • TinyBuild, seeing the fat stacks of cash Alex is sitting on, uses its contacts to find an available freelance developer that is willing to work for Alex as a side project for extra money. They haven't have to spend a penny on that – this whole YS venture is risky as hell, better not to overspend. Maybe they found someone from Russia, to make things cheaper for Alex.
  • Because of Alex's overprotectiveness and lack of communication skills, the developer is tasked with more boring things, like Unity 5 port, performance improvements, save system etc.
  • The developer, seeing tons of small easily fixable issues with the code, fixes them as well.
  • Alex, being the ungrateful bastard he is, fires the programmer, because all the tiny fixes hurt his ego and the salary hurt his Jew feelings.
  • When it comes to summarising the programmer's contributions, Alex calls them "small number of meaningful improvements" to downplay how crucial they were and "go over my code" to show how much his ego was hurt and how attached he is to his spaghetti.
  • To avoid another MikeZ-like incident, Alex vows to never let any hater touch his code (and his money) again.
This, and the email incident from ages ago, show that Alex is incapable of teamwork. The most teamworky thing he can do is to treat other people as asset-producing machines. And don't they dare touching, criticising or improving DaddyDev's work!

In 2015, I accepted assistance from a 3D modeler who was between jobs. [...] I agreed to his terms, and began paying him $500 per month. I figured that there would be more professional-quality volunteers in his exact position; wishing to help out, but in need of minimal compensation. The $4,000 / $4,500 / $5,000 goals were created with this in mind.
I think most professionals would tell him to shove his $500 up his ass. Seriously, his programming skills are questionable at best and he thinks $3500 is an acceptable wage for himself, and just a THIRD of what remains of his shekels every month, goes to somebody who outclasses him in absolutely any field. This would be funny if it weren't so sad.

There are already some professional-level programmers volunteering to help me for free, so huge monthly payments aren't even necessary to get programming assistance.
Either you're a "single lonely programmer :( " or you shut up and be grateful. However I honestly doubt anybody worth his salt would work on this shitshow for free. If they are, it doesn't show. Proof or it's bullshit.

I didn't want to risk losing weeks or months of my time teaching someone how the systems work, how to modify various aspects of the game, where important files are located, etc. I didn't want to risk "merge conflicts" that occur when two programmers modify the same script and then have to resolve conflicting code. I didn't want to risk the programmer modifying my code in ways that make it alien and foreign to me, impeding my ability to make progress on the game. I didn't want to risk losing time waiting for a programmer to fix a bug he had caused. I didn't want to risk being forced into a situation where I'm reliant on the assistance of someone whose personality is difficult to tolerate. I didn't want to risk all of the other annoying headaches that come from working alongside a programmer instead of just working solo.
"I won't accept help because I have to teach them, and I don't want to learn to read their code, and they'll just fuck it up and they'll just be mean about it anyway"
All of Alex's problems come from his unwillingness and inability to solve them.

Every time this manchild says anything, I internally scream in frustration. Just hire the fucking professional programmer already!

If I know indie devs, there's one thing he's dead right about. It's that any professional programmer will take one look at his surely non-standard spaghetti code and insist on recoding the entire thing properly from the ground up, rather then submitting to/working under the restrictions the current codebase will impose.

That's the real reason he can't/wont hire a professional to help him finish.

I know the answer's :autism:, greed, and laziness, but I genuinely don't get why the fuck he refuses to let go of his spaghetti code by paying some dude like 1k a month to start from scratch using C#. Hell, do that and you can turn that into a big feature in videos and bragging about all the story and other pigshit you're going to add now that a competent person's doing the job without doing a damn thing yourself. Plus it actually would be a good way to deflect on why he compulsively streams rather than develops his non-alpha build game, since he needs x amount of time to get it back to where it was.

I genuinely don't get his utter arrogance on keeping every stupid idea in his game some times, especially given he does openly acknowledge he's not that skilled a coder.

Pride.

This whole project is a pride thing, to show MikeZ and the entire world that Alex can do something by himself. Alex can't stomach anyone saying he's doing something incorrectly, neither MikeZ, nor 4chan anons, nor a random TinyBuild programmer.

You probably know of situations where a child (maybe even a younger you) was doing something in an incorrect way and kept stubbornly refusing to be taught the correct way, saying "nuh-uh!" and rejecting any help or constructive criticism.
Alex is that child.

It's pride. If he gives up his code, then he is basically accepting that he, the great and amazing YanDev, was just dicking around for months on end. And that the bugs and problems with his game were easily fixable but he was too lazy/stupid to fix them himself.

It's fear. What if the programmer was a troll who managed to get the code and then released it for everyone to see and mock?

And as you said, it's greed. The longer he can keep the game in development Hell, the longer he can milk Patreon. He knows he's on a sinking ship. And this golden goose is slowly dying as more people call him out and fewer YouTubers bother with him.

To think that his evaxephon stream back then introduced me to watching streams...

Before I bailed from the madness, I witnessed enough of him to know he's the kind of person who'll be ridiculed all his life.
I *was* surprised when I first heard that he was the dev of Yandere Simulator, but I wasn't surprised when I saw how it turned/turns out.

What's his final destination?

Thankfully I didn't know him under that name until May 2017. I knew him first as YandereDev on Markiplier's channel. It only took about three months of excuses before I did a Google search and came across this thread (that why I joined lol), but after reading everything it's sadly obvious what's going to happen to YandereSim. It sucks, and I wish people would educate themselves before giving Alex any money, but kids are naive. They'll throw money at anything that "edgy" nowadays.

Alex's inflated ego and narcissism will be the downfall of him, thankfully he has such little skill in programming that I doubt he'll ever strike gold like this again and I feel like the game will sizzle out very quickly unless TinyBuild intervenes.

The good news is that once people get annoyed with how little progress the game is having, they may look more into Alex and come across this thread with all of the glorious archived evidence of his true personality and no one will work with/for him again. Watching that tantrum that will ensue will be amazing... crap I'd pay to see it live streamed.

I think I can guess what happened:

I also got the strong vibes that Alex was infact refering to the tinybuild programmer, which in turn implies that he only worked with that programmer for 5 months. This would mean that he's been more or less cruising since then, without ever talking about the subject and its implications (i.e. game won't be done ver, tinybuild support really isn't a thing anymore).

At this rate, the fall of Yandere Simulator won't be caused by lack of sufficient funds- it'll be Alex's pride that'll sink this game into the ground.

((On an unrelated note, happy 900 pages!))
And his laziness if all he keeps doing is simple cosmetic "improvements" to his character models and animations.
