As someone who lived in one of the centers for the opoid epidemic on the East Coast, it's a real issue, and the people involved with trying to stop it have their thumbs up their asses 24/7. Even us superior East Coast residents have pill problems too.
On a lighter note, now I'm imagining that all of Bob's fat is just codeine bloat.

but shouldn't being concerned about the condition of your fellow countrymen be a concern no matter what "side" you fall on? Aren't governments "suppose" to be about protecting the citizens? Regardless of affiliation or arguments on how to achieve that, isn't that the idea? Bob doesn't even try to hide that he could care less about the ideas that society (any society) is built on.

Unlike Bob, I have read Avengers Forever and it was continuity porn that came an ass-ton of footnotes if you wanted to understand the whole picture. Don't get me wrong, it's a good read, but not one you can translate to screen without confounding a whole lot of people.

I honestly believe that Moviebob's a psychopath. It's not that surprising: about 4% of the population is estimated to have psychopathic tendencies. Many of them become high-power executives (because they are more capable of making decisions based on what's best for their career/company, instead of empathy or emotion-driven decisions) or heart/brain surgeons (because they can be completely dispassionate while performing life-or-death procedures). But those kinds of psychopaths can at least play nice with the remaining 96% of the population and can intellectually grasp how they should act in order to function in society. Bob, on the other hand, never developed those kinds of people skills, so he doesn't grasp that his appalling lack of empathy or remorse and self-admitted beliefs that he sees, let's be conservative and say 35% of the population, as subhuman refuse that should be exterminated are seen by society as beyond the pale. This is why Bob lives in a basement instead of a high-rise.Call me
