Malka has no choice but to abandon the left wing authoritarian moderation style. He has no job prospects, I doubt he could even get a call back from McDonald's. So NeoGAF is all that he has left so he has no choice but to turn it around if he wants to keep a roof over his head. I think it's a decent strategy and if he sticks with it, it can be pulled off in the long term. He'll never come close to what NeoGAF had a few years ago but it could be enough to pay the bills.

REEset Era can't be a launching pad for any SJW campaigns because it still doesn't have the cachet NeoGAF had in its heyday.

NeoGAF' biggest advantage was the fact that it was dev- friendly, and leak-friendly, this made it a news source, and enabled outlets like Kotaku or Waypoint to place the SJW posts side by side with the dev & leak posts, adding some additional "legitimacy" to the ramblings of the childless weirdos that inhabited that place.

Eventually, this eroded over time as the crazies took over the place and made it untenable for devs, and eventually the shower incident caused the destruction of all that remained of said cachet.

Now we have NeoGAF, a destroyed place that needs to (re)build any and all connections with actual gamers. And ResetEra, a place that will probably remain in infancy until it dies, courtesy of said childless weirdos being the mods in there.

NeoGAF is guaranteed to never become an SJW hive again since they see the place as damaged goods at best, and an "Alt-Right Nazi" headquarters at worst. This leaves the site to either fade away completely, or to become as politically neutral as possible to gain a stable user base. Might not be as popular as it was during its prime, but it might be enough to give it a modicum of respectability.
