NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

This thread is about a video on a lying video game score champ. Tranny chaser attempts to derail it by calling out the video maker. When asked for proof, he provides none.

The true and honest woman he's white knighting obviously has a thread on here https://kiwifarms.net/threads/narcissa-wright-cosmo-wright.24309/

Todd is a lolcow in his own right. Too bad he doesn't freak out much on the internet.

I will quote my favorite English Professor-there are two kinds of fiction, commercial and literary. Commercial exists to sell, Literary exists to speak about the human condition. People who only read commercial fiction have not experienced the incredible highs and the lowest lows that literary fiction can provide. NeoGAF and ResetERA are the epitome of only reading commercial fiction. Commercial doesn't challenge you. The heroes are good, the villains are bad, and good beats evil. To speculate is to imagine a world where the villains, the bad guys, the evil darkness, could potentially win. Their minds literally cannot comprehend why you would want to speculate and discuss such a world. Is commercial fiction bad? No. Far from it. But when it's all you consume, you willingly seal yourself into the echo chamber.

So to further prove my point, The Last Night wants to speculate on what happens to the human condition when all fight has been removed. They literally cannot comprehend why you would want to do this, so they shut it out. It is evil because they are afraid of it.

This is why forums like this and the anonymous imageboards are important. They are polar opposites to the insular culture of "important" forums like Resetera. As much as people would like to paint this place as an alt-right hive of phobic, terrible people, I've seen a wide variety of viewpoints on various subjects.

Regarding the game, I wonder what people would think if Soret did a complete heel turn and started espousing all of the indie lefty talking points. Would critics suddenly find no issue with the guy and champion his game for being a gripping deconstruction of a post work world?

They're probably keeping lists of these pesky enthusiasts who only want to talk about games in Discord cliques, like those we've seen around launch of them stalking users to determine whether or not they're Russian trolls.

Doesn't this very forum have Russian trolls in plain sight?

It actually goes deeper than that though, Angelo, though you make outstanding points worthy of a Semper Fidelis, and your work does set me up for giving this bit of elaboration:

Whether commercial, literary, or those rare works that straddle the line, the Gaffot crowd (and indeed, many SocJus types) seem to hate them all the same. It doesn't matter what the actual work is, its merits, or its flaws; they will find the most transparently stupid reason to hate something, often while provably demonstrating they know almost nothing about what they're complaining about in the process. Similarly, works that somehow manage to slip past their arsenal of tests (a rarity) will get their seal of approval - and, more often than not, absolutely suck. More on that in a moment.

Below this obvious case of kibitzing over vidya/movies/etc they disapprove of, and their seemingly hunting down works to specifically hate, festering under the surface like a canker sore is the actual, honest-to-god, core reason they keep fucking doing it. It's a strange chord that runs through these circles and is just as baffling to the uninitiated now as it was when it was first seen in the wild:

That a great many Social Justice types, in truth, hate the very concept of escapism itself.

While they'll generally cloak this hate in any of a number of ways (traditionally by focusing on specific works - often by arguing parts of said work are inherently bad ("this work's portrayal of X is insensitive/this character is too sexy, change it") or that the work is somehow inherently offensive (by being racist/sexist/fill-in-the-blank-ist)), the truth is that the underlying belief of many Social Justice warriors is that any concept of escapism will only allow you to hear something other than the almighty narrative, and that cannot be allowed.

This is why so many SJW-made works of fiction fail, whether they're video games, books, or otherwise: Social Justice Warriors are fundamentally are unable divorce themselves from the very narrative they are trying to push, and so they create works that do literally nothing but foster said narrative. This is also why, if they outright tank a property (as they did to Marvel Comics) their response shows that they aren't angry about the loss of potential to tell a good story or provide entertainment for the reader, but of the loss of the ability to push the narrative itself.

They fundamentally do not want you to have the ability to take joy or comfort in things that have nothing to do with their agenda.

They wish to turn everything into propaganda pieces that are given awards simply for existing, instead of being any notable display of ludic design or narrative presentation.

The only audience for the kinds of work they wish to see are themselves. And if you don't like them, you are part of the toxic gaming community that is shunning whatever minority is being killed by the thousands at that given moment.

They have escaped into their own deluded, warped world full of demons, where the only way to defeat them isn't through a BFG, but "love."

Any examples?

There's a few ways. I'll go over the ones that they've already closed first.

Trolls most commonly used to get on ResetERA by using email addresses that are comparatively obscure; for example Guerillamail's service lets you use any of like 2 dozen fake websites (some more official-looking than others) and some managed to slip through before the mods got wise and started banning them. Similarly, email spoofing with temp accounts used to work as well, but ResetERA's dedicated anti-fun brigade set up a series of scripts that can detect some of that too, and now it's mostly a crapshoot.

Nowadays the most common way to sneak onto ResetERA is to grab an email address on an existing (legitimate) service that the ResetERAtards approve of (.gov, .edu for instance), either by general access or other means, and either fork additional addresses off that one with different forwarding/phone numbers or use your own disposable server and make a mildly-legit-looking email address (AIbany.gov), though that seems like overkill just to fuck with people to are happily destroying themselves already.

If they check with a click through confirmation, that won't work, because you can't just register a gov domain. You'd actually have to commit fraud to do it without being a government entity.

The process is almost as paranoid as REEEsetERA's.

"They know what they're doing"

Really gotta love that autistic amount of paranoia. It really is like a cult.

Nobody would ever look at a game on a games forum and say the game looks good.

It's a conspiracy!

It's official. ResetEra is no longer "one of the worst picks you can make for a gaming forum to join". It's just not a gaming forum at all now. It's literally, LITERALLY, a place where discussion of games or appraisal of them is condemned. Good going you double fuckmints. You're killing the credibility of your own site as anything but politics with a dash of game talk with each and every post you make.

Some services like Comcast will also allow you to make a number of sub-accounts to your real account, each with their own "real" name, that can be deleted and created at will. Hello "ResetDeezNutz@Comcast.com."

why do they like them?
I'm curious too. Nathan Drake seems like a cisscum white male with problematic implications waiting to happen.

Sony games tend more "progressive"? I mean, look at Horizon and The last of us part II. Aloy isn't particularly cute nor ugly, she's just average. And Ellie is basically a gay character. Then again, you're right about Nathan Drake.

I never played it and don't know many details but recently I heard a lefty podcaster bitching that Horizon was problematic because it the story promotes patriarchal norms as the savior of civilization or something. I turned it off because the fucker was just supposed to be doing a top 10 personal favorite games of 2017 episode and he couldn't stop talking about the patriarchy and how evil JonTron is, but then googled for Horizon controversy... and couldn't find what he was talking about. All the links I found were from anti-sjws bitching about the game being too pc or something.

Can someone explain the problem with Horizon to me? All I ever saw was that it looked like a decent open world game with a slightly novel premise.

I don't know why sjws hated it but I know Gamergate spergs flipped out because the female lead was dressed modestly and not showing off 90% of her tits and crotch.

That's something REEEsetEra types and GG spergs act like faggots over, but in different ways.

The former spew SJW-scented whining in favor of putting the lead in a burka, while the latter whine because they aren't getting softcore porn.

Both sides are embarrassingly stupid assholes who expect to be catered to, when it reality it's up to the vision of the creators and the people who want to buy it that counts.
